  12. Description: Hart, a convicted r*pist and prison escapee, attacked the girls as they slept in their cabin at Camp Scott. He r*ped them, before beating them and strangling them to death. Their bodies were discovered in the morning on the trail leading to the camp showers.

Hart was acquitted in their deaths in 1979 & died of a heart attack 2 months later (6-4-1979) in prison while serving a sentence for other crimes. Decades later newer DNA testing, combined with a reexamining of the evidence, linked the murders to Hart, though he can’t be retried because of double jeopardy and his death.
