- Resort workers converged everyone who was located in the restaurant and bar into the lobby. About 75 humans & mamono stood together like a can of sardines. A man walked in from one of the extended hallways, giving stern orders into his cell phone.
- “Yes, everyone. Get them here.” He grunted and hung up. He must’ve been the manager. “So...” he spoke to the crowd in front of him. “Looks like everyone has to stay for the time being.”
- “Well great!” A random man yelled.
- “Hey. If you want to walk out there and leave, be my guest.” The owner snapped. “So, all resort facilities except for the outdoor activities will still be active for the time being. All employees or guests without a room will be assigned one, further payment plans for the accommodations are being discussed.” More people and workers from the resort were now gathering into the crowd. It was a small resort in a remote location, so not a lot of people showed up.
- “Hey boss!” A worker ant shouted from an “EMPLOYEES ONLY” door. “Bad news, the heating generator blew a fuse. It’s out.”
- “No!” A voice shouted from the back of the crowd. I recognized the voice being the lamia who ran out of the kitchen. I could see why she’d be panicking the most.
- “Can you fix it?”
- “Rerouting all of the mainframes maybe possible, but it won’t be until late tomorrow.”
- “Fuck.” The manager muttered under his breath. “Try to finish it now.” He barked back. “Ok. Follow Allysia if you don’t currently have a room, we’ll get it settled.” The Anubis worker raised her hand and beckoned people over.
- Travis, Burtina and I glanced back & forth to each other. This thing was a way bigger issue than we expected, mainly since this whole thing started 15 minutes ago.
- “Hey bud!” A man in a bathrobe shouted. “You better get us out of here!” A hellhound next to him put her paws on his shoulders.
- “Calm down, Jon. It’s a lockdown, not a murder spree, we’ll be fine.” She said. That barely calmed him down. Things were getting heated in the crowd... hehe.
- “Ok ok.” The manager sighed. “I’m getting in contact with the parks... ah fuck. Internet is out.” People gasped in response, checking their devices. No one had even noticed the TVs in the lobby lost connection.
- “Should I go grab some first aid supplies from my truck?” A manticore asked.
- “Hell no!” The manager responded. “Do you see it out there? Good luck making it a few yards.” He was right. The parking lot was a good mile away due to the hill the resort was on.
- “I could go get it!” Burtina suggested. The manticore seemed on board, but Travis didn’t.
- “Oh no, honey. Even if you could find a door that can open, I’m not letting something happen to my bear bear!” A few people groaned at the nickname he had given, even Burtina didn’t seem so fond. Just then the lights flickered off again. We waited a few seconds, then a few more... they didn’t come back on.
- “Yo boss!” A different worker ant yelled from a door. “The main circuit breakers are fried up.” Gasps came from the crowd again.
- “GOD DAMN IT!” He yelled to himself, walking over to the ant. He whispered something into her ear, but I didn’t hear it. Whatever it was must’ve been bad, cause the ant left hastily with a bad expression on her face.
- At this point, most of the guests had disbanded back to their rooms. I mean, what in the world would a human man and Mamonos do to pass the time during a lockdown? All there was left was a few strangers, the manager, Travis, Burtina, and I.
- “Ok.” The manager said coming back to us. “I’m holding a work meeting with the heads of each department to discuss the next plan of action. You guys go, do whatever.” He walked off, leaving us three left as the strangers followed his path.
- “Well.” Travis started. “I guess we’ll have to find something to do.” Him and Burtina began to make their way to their room. I followed, but stopped in my tracks.
- “Yeah guys, go ahead. I’ll be there later.” I trailed off from them heading towards a single lamia laying in front of the fireplace.
