  2. Tales of Phantasia
  3.
  4. Platform: Snes (or SFC)
  5. Released: 15.12.1995
  6.
  7. Based on: NTSC-J-version (SHVC-ATVJ-JPN)
  8.
  9.
  10.
  11. - The damage you deal is (cATP - eDFP)(x+c)er
  12. × cATP: Character's Attack Power
  13. × eDFP: Enemy's Defense Power
  14. × x: General damage multiplier (1,0 by default). A critical hit (c)
  15. increases the multiplier by 0,5 and also has a chance of inflicting
  16. Stun, which lasts for a couple of seconds.
  17. × e: Elemental variable (1,0; 2,0; 0,5; 0; -1)
  18. × r: Random multiplier (1,03125; 1,0625; or 1,125).
  19. - Some of Cless' battle skills ignore the enemy's DFP. I refer to these
  20. moves as 'energy-based.' These attacks can't be evaded, but they also
  21. have no critical hit roll.
  22.
  23. - Damage received is (eATP - cDFP)*4(x+c)er
  24. × Many ATP values are a fraction (0,25; 0,5; 0,75) lower than the listed
  25. value. I've rounded these up to keep things a bit simpler.
  26.
  27. - Base ATP is Strength.
  28. - Base DFP is Constitution.
  29. - Agility is *not* the base stat for Accuracy (Meichuu) or Evade (Kaihi).
  30. These are all separate stats that increase from leveling up (Agility &
  31. Accuracy: 1 or 2 points per level. Evade: 0 or 1 point per level).
  32. - Your Luck stat may vary greatly.
  33. - Cless reaches 9999 HP around Lv87 (unboosted).
  34. - Arche will have about 9100 HP at Lv99.
  35. - Cless and Chester will have around 150 Str at Lv99 (1 or 2 points per
  36. level). Klarth will have 105 (1 point per level).
  37. - All characters will have around 50 Constitution at Lv99 (0 or 1 point
  38. per level).
  39. - By manipulating your stat gains (ie. keep loading the game until you
  40. get the stat gain(s) you want), you can indeed end up with 50 more points
  41. of Str and/or Con. Normally, I would advise against stat manipulation,
  42. as it's hardly worth the effort, but ToP is a bit of an exception. 50
  43. points of Str will increase the damage of Shugohoujin by 1/3 (minimal
  44. impact on anything else, though), and 50 points of Con will decrease
  45. physical damage by 200 per hit. Nothing massive by any means, especially
  46. when considering you need to reach max level to reap the full benefits
  47. (which is indeed typically the main issue), but it's still worth
  48. considering - if you're the obsessive type, that is.
  49. - You recover 5% TP at the end of a battle.
  50. - After using an item during battle, it takes 5 seconds before you can
  51. use the Item command again. When using healing items, it takes 2,1 seconds
  52. for the effect to kick in.
  53. - You should disable new spells as you obtain them, except for healing.
  54. Magic can certainly be useful, but using it indiscriminately will quickly
  55. drain your TP.
  56. - At AI setting 3, Mint will use a single-target healing spell once a
  57. character's HP drops below 2/3. She will use Nurse/Resurrection if
  58. more than one character has fallen below 2/3 HP.
  59. - On settings 1 and 2, Mint will use support magic in addition to healing.
  60. In regards to healing, she'll use single-target healing when a character
  61. is below either 1/3 or 1/6, depending one whether or not she has access
  62. to a multi-target healing spell (if so, then the threshold is 1/6).
  63. Multi-target healing is used when more than one character is below 1/3.
  64. I really can't recommend using setting 1 or 2. You really don't want
  65. your characters staying around 40% HP, much less 20%.
  66. - When the AI uses multi-target healing, the subject with the lowest
  67. relative HP will be the main target.
  68. - The AI will not use multi-target healing for a single target even if
  69. you disable single target healing spells.
  70. - Healing spells and offensive magic have a base power and a level modifier
  71. (as seen in the misc. file).
  72. - The random variable in healing spells increases the amount by 0,5% at most.
  73. - Most spells and some enemy special attacks freeze time for the duration
  74. of the animation.
  75. - Most spells have the maximum area of effect, meaning all targets visible
  76. on the screen will be affected. You still choose one target when casting
  77. these spells, and the screen will then center on this target. It's best
  78. to cast spells manually when there are multiple targets, as the AI will
  79. likely target the nearest enemy, which will easily results in the enemies
  80. in the back being unaffected. You also often need to knock the enemy back
  81. and herd them together to maximize efficiency.
  82. - Mages have a 2 second cooldown after casting a spell.
  83. - Subjects flinch from having another subject pushed on to them. As such,
  84. it's best to give your mages some breathing room.
  85. - Poison: 10 HP every 1-4 seconds during battle. 1 HP every ~2-10 steps
  86. on the field.
  87. - Bleed (from Wall spells): 30 HP every 2s (elemental; can be halved).
  88. - Paralysis / Petrification: Unable to act. Paralyzed characters can
  89. still be damaged.
  90. - Quite a few enemies can inflict status ailments with their attacks.
  91. This will happen even if they're not inflicting any damage.
  92. - If all characters are incapacitated (dead, petrified, paralyzed), it's
  93. game over.
  94. - Enemies will try to cast spells even if they don't enough TP to do so
  95. or even if they're silenced.
  96. - Exp is divided among active party members.
  97. - Paralyzed characters will not gain any Exp, but they will still cause
  98. the Exp to be divided.
  99. - Hold L or R while at the edge of the battlefield to run away from
  100. battle. The time required to do so is determined by your active party's
  101. total level compared to the enemy's total level (it doesn't average the
  102. levels out like in later installments). If you're paralyzed or petrified,
  103. you can run away regardless of your position.
  104. - Holy/Dark Bottles will decrease/increase encounter rate for 250 tiles.
  105. - There are several events, both mandatory and optional, that can only
  106. be triggered after talking to specific NPCs.
  107. - Once you're confident in your abilities, you should definitely try
  108. speedrunning the game.
  109. - The game features a hidden Hard Mode, triggered by starting a new game
  110. by pressing all four facial buttons at the same time. A voice clip will
  111. tell you if you got it right. The only thing that changes on Hard is
  112. that enemies have double ATP. Needless to say, this makes things *very*
  113. unpleasant. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.
  114. - Healing items
  115. Apple Gummy | 30% HP Orange Gummy | 30% TP
  116. Lemon Gummy | 60% HP Pine Gummy | 60% TP
  117. Mix Gummy | 30% HP&TP Panacea Bottle | Heal status
  118. Miracle Gummy | 60% HP&TP Life Bottle | Revive with 25% HP
  119. Elixir / Bijoubu | 100% HP&TP (takes 6,5s)
  120.
  121. Bugs
  122. - Hitting multiple enemies with a single normal attack produces an increase
  123. in the damage multiplier for one hit (possibly intentional?).
  124. - Because of the delay in single-target healing spells, Mint may cast a
  125. healing spell twice.
  126. - Characters with status immunity may still briefly be afflicted by the
  127. ailment (likely prompting an unnecessary response from Mint).
  128. - The Persia Boots cause elemental resistance to not work properly. As a
  129. result, a character may absorb an element they're not supposed to absorb.
  130. It can even happen to non-elemental special attacks that you were never
  131. supposed to be able to absorb.
  132. - There also seems to be an issue with the way the game handles your
  133. characters absorbing elemental physical attacks and, as a result, they
  134. will heal you for 9999 points.
  135. - Once, I sorted my items to list tools first, and it gave me the Sefira
  136. effect.
  137. - The play time counter bugs out a little if it exceeds 99:59 (which
  138. will certainly never happen in normal circumstances). Instead of 100,
  139. it shows 10, but it seems to run normally after that.

  175. Items (nc): 10 G, Ringo \\\ Totis ||
  176. Default (Cless): Longsword, Leather Armor (Artifact), Wood Shield, Manto
  177. Default (Chester): Self Bow S, Leather Armor, Manto
  178. - You can skip the credits part of the opening event.
  179. - You'll start off at Level 1 with 2 Apple Gummies, 100 Gald and the
  180. key items Pendant and Wood Sack S (you can check your key items by
  181. choosing Kichouhin o Miru in the Item menu).
  182. - You should tweak the settings a bit. I set message speed to max,
  183. Confirm to Y and turn off Encounter Kakunin and the voices (not all
  184. voices are turned off). When Encounter Kakunin is on, the camera moves
  185. to the right at the beginning of a battle.
  186. - There's no way to manually sort specific items in your inventory. You
  187. can only use the buttons to sort items according to certain attributes.
  188. I tend not to use them myself. Instead, I try to manipulate things to
  189. my liking by getting rid of insignificant items at the top of the list
  190. (Manto, Cheese, etc.) just before getting an item I want at the top
  191. (such as the 60% healing items).
  192. - Items you've recently received will have their names displayed in
  193. green. At most 8 items will be highlighted like so.
  194. - There's really nothing of interest going on here. The old lady at the
  195. inn asks you to move the Bushbaby statue and place it in front of the
  196. window. You'll get 10 G for that. If you move it without first agreeing
  197. to help, you'll get nothing.
  198. - You can get an apple from the old man in one of the establishments.
  199. You can either keep it or give it to Amy.
  200.
  201. - Cless has three different normal attacks: a basic ground attack, an
  202. uppercut and a jump attack.
  203. × The basic attack naturally involves simply pressing Confirm. If
  204. you're at least a little distance away from the target, Cless will
  205. run up close to attack and then run back to his starting position.
  206. × You'll do an uppercut if you press Confirm a second time while in
  207. mid-range as you're running in to attack.
  208. × You'll do a jump attack if you press Confirm a second time while at
  209. long range as you're running in to attack.
  210. - Uppercuts and jump attacks are slower, as you need to run back and
  211. forth, but they're also more powerful (+0,5 to the basic multiplier)
  212. and usually safer due to the knockback.
  213. - Each of the three attacks also have two variations: a slash and a
  214. thrust. By default, you'll do a slash. Hold Up when pressing Confirm
  215. to do a thrust attack instead. The regular thrust attack is slower than
  216. a slash but has more horizontal range. The thrust uppercut is the least
  217. useful of the six possible attacks, as it doesn't connect consistently.
  218. The jump thrust should also probably be avoided, as it leaves you closer
  219. to the enemy than the jump slash.
  220. - If you press in the opposite direction when Cless is running back
  221. after an attack, you can stop the run early, although he'll slide for
  222. a while before actually coming to a halt. You can increase distance to
  223. the enemy by sliding just before you reach the starting position.
  224. - You can also trigger uppercuts and jumps by pressing any other input
  225. while still holding down Confirm. I doubt this was intentional. Either
  226. way, it's fairly useful, as it allows you to execute uppercuts at very
  227. short distances. You'll also end up doing the occasional unintentional
  228. jump or uppercut. Usually this happens when you move forward, press
  229. Confirm and then release the d-pad while you're still holding Confirm.
  230. - Cless can equip three types of weapons: swords, axes and polearms.
  231. All of these have two separate ATP values; one for slash (Kiri), one
  232. for thrust (Tsuki).
  233. × Swords often strike a balance between axes and polearms. Rapiers are
  234. the exception and have higher Tsuki than Kiri.
  235. × Polearms often have higher Tsuki than Kiri. They have the longest
  236. range of the three types.
  237. × Axes typically have higher Kiri than Tsuki. They have the shortest
  238. range of the three.
  239. - You have four slots for waza: two short range (SR) and two long range
  240. (LR). Most moves are limited to either SR or LR slots. Ougis are all
  241. limited to LR.
  242. - Energy-based attacks nearly always use the slash ATP value.
  243. - The amount of knockback you cause varies depending on the attack, the
  244. weapon and the enemy's weight.
  245. - You can only block attacks from the front. The same goes for the enemy,
  246. but it's rather difficult to get behind the enemy (without having another
  247. enemy hitting you in the back).
  248.
  249. Item: Life Bottle \\\ Seirei no Mori ||
  250. Boss: Boar (+ 3× Boar Child)
  251. - Better get a few levels. Bugbears hit pretty hard, so using Majinken
  252. isn't a bad idea. You should also try to attack at the same time as
  253. Chester. That way, if you get blocked, you have a better chance of
  254. getting away without taking damage.
  255. - The G in G.Bee (and similar enemy names) stands for Giant.
  256. - Choose Tairetsu in the menu to change your party's formation. Your
  257. formation is reset to default whenever a character joins (even if it's
  258. just an NPC) or you switch characters.
  259. - Press L or R during battle to move Cless to the left or right end
  260. of the formation.
  261. - Blocks and criticals are a common occurrence both ways. Getting
  262. blocked freezes your character for a little while.
  263. - Note that Chester has no waza or critical hit roll.
  264. - If you're hurt badly, you can rest at Cless' place.
  265.
  266. [Boss]
  267. - 200 HP, 8 ATP / 30 HP, 4 ATP. 26 xp, 63 G in total.
  268. - The piglets are likely to run away, but Shuusouraizan can take them
  269. out with a single hit. You might not have it yet, though, which is fine.
  270.
  271. \\\ Totis ||
  272. - After the event here, Chester will leave the party.
  273. - Whatever you do, do *NOT* pick up the weapon in Cless' house! You'll
  274. lose all your swords and shields in Euclid.
  275.
  276. Items: Life Bottle, Orange Gummy \\\ Mountain Path ||
  277. - Move the statue out of the way to access the path that leads to the
  278. two chests. The encounter rate is really high there.
  279. - Note that you can often briefly move inside a wall if you change
  280. directions just as you enter a load zone. This has no impact on anything.
  281. It's just something you can do.
  282.
  283. Shop: \\\ Euclid ||

  291. Leather Helm 600 G Beef 40 G 80
  292. Leather Glove 150 G
  293.
  294. - Towns can have multiple entrance points. For example, try entering
  295. Euclid from the west side instead of the south.
  296. - Pick up a Leather Glove. You can get 2 Chainmails in the second
  297. dungeon, so I suggest you save the money and wait. I wouldn't recommend
  298. the Leather Helm either.
  299. - The Iron Boots will become something quite useful once upgraded. If
  300. you can't afford it yet, no big deal.
  301. - The Jet Boots allow you to run faster on the field. This increases
  302. the encounter rate, however (and not just because you're accumulating
  303. steps faster), so I would advise that you only do it in areas with no
  304. encounters (unless you're building up).
  305. - Eating food gives you HP regeneration on the field, but it's really
  306. not that useful. Healing spells get the job done faster and cheaper.
  307. - Unequip your sword and shield and sell them (unless you're planning
  308. on leveling up some more).
  309. - Anyway, once you're ready to proceed, go to the northwest building.
  310. Talk to Olson and choose to rest.

  317. Boss: Spend Devil (+2× G.Slug)
  318. - You'll wind up in the dungeons. Any swords and shields you may have
  319. had will be gone. Check the hole in the wall, then wait for a while
  320. until someone speaks to you. Check the hole again and you can proceed.
  321. (you'll need to equip the sword you find)
  322. - Place Mint near the back and set her AI to 'Inochi o daiji ni.'
  323. - Note that you can examine things and talk to people from half a tile
  324. away.
  325.
  326. [Boss]
  327. - Spend Devil: 250 HP, 18 ATP, 8 DFP | Giant Slug: 120 HP, 14 ATP, 8 DFP
  328. - 82 Exp, 566 Gald
  329. - Take out the slugs first with Majinken and/or Shuusouraizan.
  330.
  331. Item: Pikurusu Stone \\\ Morrison's House ||
  332. - Get a Self Bow L from the traveling merchant if you didn't get one
  333. earlier.
  334. - There's a hidden chest outside.
  335.
  336. Item (nc): Knight's Saber (Unique) \\\ Totis Ruins ||
  337. - You can now pick up the sword at Cless' place. It's Fire-elemental,
  338. but that's not a problem early in the game.
  339. - Head to the Catacombs east of Morrison's house.
  340.
  341. \\\ Chika Bochi ||
  342. Items: Mix Gummy, Cheese, Apple Gummy, Sabre, Chain Mail, Sage,

  345. Items (nc): Protect Ring, Spectacles, Hourglass (Artifact), Chain Mail,
  346. Rune Bottle, Morrison no Hon (Key), Kowareta Yumi (Key, Temp)
  347. Special: Majinhienkyaku
  348. - At the entrance, Tristan will teach you your first Ougi. An Ougi is
  349. a combination of two waza which you need to master (ie. use a 100 times)
  350. before the Ougi can be used. Most Ougis are not that impressive and
  351. not worth the TP cost. The biggest exception is one that we'll be
  352. picking up right after this dungeon. All Ougis are limited to Long Range.
  353. × When you master a waza, you'll get a message about it at the end of
  354. a battle. It'll also tell you if this unlocks an ougi. If you run away
  355. from a battle where you mastered a waza, nothing special happens. The
  356. message(s) will be displayed at the end of the next battle you finish.
  357. - Keep your eye out for opportunities to hit multiple enemies with
  358. Shuusouraizan.
  359. - Using the Spectacles shows the enemy's current/max HP, TP and any
  360. possible elemental weaknesses (with the exception of Void).
  361. - There are only a limited number of Hourglasses in the game (hence
  362. the Artifact tag). Using one will freeze enemies for 5 seconds (hitting
  363. them will still push them back). Upgrading it creates a Chronoglass,
  364. which freezes enemies for 10 seconds.
  365. - One of the coffins will give you your first Rune Bottle. These are
  366. used to upgrade items and ID unidentified equipment. It'll be a while
  367. before you can buy them, and they're pretty expensive, so use them wisely.
  368. A pretty safe bet at this point would be to use it on Iron Boots to create
  369. the Persia Boots (decreases damage by 30%). You can then RB it further
  370. to create the Nightmare Boots (increases movement speed by 50%), another
  371. great accessory.
  372. - One of the hallways has a row of statues. Examine one of them and two
  373. chests (Sage, Mix Gummy) will appear in the previous area.
  374. - Don't forget to RB the stat boost herbs before using them. When boosting
  375. HP or MP, you should also equip one of the HP/MP boosting accessories
  376. (Black Onyx / Moon Crystal), as this will indeed affect the boost, giving
  377. you 30% more. The effect from the accessory doesn't stack, so +30% is
  378. the most you can get.
  379. - There's a big statue near the first save point. Beat it up, then move
  380. it on the switch.
  381. × Golems have high evade. Even Chester might get blocked. Shuusouraizan
  382. works best. The Golems give you your first Holy Bottles. I like to keep
  383. these at the beginning of the second page of the inventory (just like
  384. Rune Bottles).
  385. - Once you have the Lace Ruby, you can go through the sealed door near
  386. the beginning.
  387. - You'll likely get some Liqueur Bottles here. You can use them during
  388. battle to make a character immune to status ailments, but this will also
  389. lower ATP by 20%.
  390. - You'll fight two Golems in the room with the second save point, but
  391. I wouldn't call it a boss.
  392. - Once you proceed past the second save point, you will travel to the
  393. past and won't be able to explore the previous areas again. Chester
  394. will go MIA for quite some time.

  817. - The save points are on B4, B7 and B10.
  818. - B4: There's a room with two switches on the ground and an NPC wandering
  819. around. If she steps on one switch while you're standing on the other,
  820. a chest with a Rune Bottle will appear.
  821. - B4: Step on the directional switches in this order:
  822. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right.
  823. - B4: Don't miss the switch on the wall near the first save point. It

  855. should have your mages as far away as possible.
  856. - It's actually possible to get him stuck inside your characters somehow,
  857. in which case Klarth will slowly but surely maim him to death. I think
  858. it works something like this: When he does his short charge attack, he
  859. has to end up "inside" Klarth, and at that point you have to move so
  860. they'll end up off-screen and stay off-screen. Something like that.

  874. talk to the last one, you'll teleport back to Olive.
  875. - Next, you need to get 5 Basilisk Urokos, then talk to the innkeeper.
  876. Maybe you already have them, but if you don't, head out and get them.
  877. You should be able to take down the Basilisk now (use Shinkuuhazan,
  878. Maxwell, Undine). Don't bother getting more than 5, though, as you'll
  879. lose all of them. If you already had more than that, it doesn't really
  880. matter. They don't sell for much and it's pretty easy to get more of them.
  881. × The desert has two map sections: the smaller, eastern one and the
  882. larger, western one. Basilisk is found in the western one. The border
  883. between the two map sections is a little southeast of Olive. If you're
  884. not encountering any Harpies, you're in the wrong map section.
  885. × The Basilisk may indeed drop a Stone Check, but the odds are fairly
  886. low. Accordingly, I wouldn't recommend grinding for one, but, hey, it's

  899. interrupt your attacks with their 'duck stab' (though you can avoid
  900. that by using Kogahazan at point blank range, since it moves you

1059. - Red Ropers can paralyze you. Fire Storm takes them out handily (go
1060. grab that first thing by going east, but then go back and check the
1061. western areas). In the pincer encounter, use Fire Storm on the three
1062. on the right and Hououtenku on the two on the left.
1063. - Dragon Knights are pretty annoying, but at least they can't inflict
1064. any ailments. Luna takes them out in a single hit and Ray leaves them
1065. badly wounded. When using physicals, I recommend Kogahazan at point
1066. blank range and uppercuts when they're running at you.
1067. - Druids have 80 TP and can cast Cure (3700 HP) and Barrier. They're
1068. also surprisingly proficient at melee combat thanks to how fast their
1069. normal attack is. Combine that with a high evade and Thunder and Light
1070. absorption and they become pretty troublesome to deal with. Hit them
1071. with Silence to prevent them from healing.
1072. - Charons cast Thunder Blade (500 pod) and like to teleport around like
1073. all members of its family. The only element they don't absorb is Void.
1074. - Iron Golems can take a while to beat down. They've got 7150 HP, a
1075. solid Evade, about 50% critical hit rate and two special attacks that
1076. do 1,5x damage and have heavy knockback. The fact that they have 0 DFP
1077. is not much of consolation. If they get you pinned down, you need to
1078. run away. The easiest way to take them out is with two Lunas and one
1079. Ray. Consider throwing a Pico Hammer at the nearest one to slow them
1080. down. You need to attack at the same or the hammer is likely to miss.
1081. - You should *probably* use the Moon Falx here, although it's not that
1082. easy to say. Either way, you'll be taking out most enemies with magic.
1083. With a Moon Falx, you wouldn't have to rely on Luna/Ray quite as much,
1084. but you'd have to use Hououtenku / Ifrit / Maxwell / Fire Storm on
1085. Druids. Then again, you might want to use those even without a Moon
1086. Falx, given how pesky they are at close range. Charons will also become
1087. an issue. They come in two battles. One of them only has one, so you
1088. can just use Maxwell. The other one is a five Charon pincer, and you
1089. should just run away from that one.
1090. - The Orange Gummies dropped by the Red Ropers will help you keep your
1091. TP up. Better have some Pine Gummies on hand too, though, just in case.
  1092.
1093. - Examine the flowers on the drawer in one of the rooms near the beginning
1094. to find Savory and Sage.
1095. - Examine the weapon racks for some weapons.
1096. - Examine the gargoyle statue in one of the hallways to find a Mysti Symbol.
1097. - One of the early puzzles involves directional switches. Step on the
1098. switches in this order: Up, down, right, left, down, up. If you mess up,
1099. check the sign to reset.
1100. - The next puzzle has you stepping on 8 switches in succession together
1101. with Arche. You have to step on a switch *after* Arche has stepped on
1102. the corresponding one on the other side.
1103. - Eventually, you'll have to leave one of your characters on a switch
1104. in order to advance. In one of the areas beyond, you'll find the Fushigi
1105. na Tekagami (guarded by an Evil Lord). This item allows you to teleport
1106. to new areas through some of the mirrors you saw earlier (you'll fight
1107. the Evil Lord again when doing so).
1108. - Distortion is Arche's first Instant Death spell. The hit rate is low,
1109. however, so it's hardly worth using.
1110. - The Mental Ring is in the same room as the Magical Broom and Piyohan,
1111. but there's something you need to examine first before it appears.
1112. - Once you have the Ougon no Kagi, leave Arche on the switch and then
1113. get to the other side of the room with the hole on the floor (where
1114. the chest is), and she'll use her broom to fly up.

1251. - The Aqua Spread is somewhat rare, but it would be great if you could

1259. - There's a switch you need to step on that can only be reached by going

1375. - The ninja-type enemies can be fairly dangerous. They have a special

  1641. [Boss: Dark Eye] FWTIELV
  1642. - 56 600 HP, 100 TP, 275 ATP, 800 DFP IIIIIIR
  1643. - 24 000 xp, 9800 G, Stone Check
1644. - Beholders can teleport. Their normal attack doesn't make you flinch,
1645. but it does hit you quickly and repeatedly, so you'll likely end up
1646. stunlocked thanks to critical hits.
1647. - He can cast Tidal Wave (6200).
  1648.
1649. - The southwest path from where you fight the Dark Eye takes you to the
1650. dungeons. There are no items there.
1651. - Use Shuusouraizan, Indignation or Meteor Swarm to take out the Cardinals.
1652. - Ninja Masters can petrify you.
1653. - Roam Eyes can cast Explode (4000), Indignation (4500) and Cure (5400).
1654. - Not far into the dungeon, you'll find a staircase surrounded by walls.
1655. You can actually walk through a part of it. When you take these stairs,
1656. you'll arrive at a crossways with a symbol on the ground. When you step
1657. on it, everyone who isn't equipped with a Derris Emblem will be teleported
1658. to the dungeons. You already have one from Ary. You can find four of
1659. them in the nearby areas, each one guarded by a Hanzou, but it'll be
1660. just Cless alone. Pop in a Holy Bottle and get ready to run. A Stone
1661. Check is also recommended. You can also get Derris Emblems from Roam
1662. Eyes, but you should just go for the chests. If Cless isn't equipped
1663. with an emblem but some of your other characters are, they'll wait by
1664. the symbol and rejoin when you get back there.
1665. - Head west from the second save point to reach the second boss.
  1666.
1667. [Boss: 2× Seal Eye] FWTIELV
  1668. - 62 600 HP, 50 TP, 300 ATP, 800 DFP ARRRAR
  1669. - 20 000 xp, 20 000 G
1670. - They can cast Explode (4000) and Meteor Swarm (6000).
1671. - A very difficult battle. If you get sandwiched between them, they're
1672. gonna whip you silly and fu#@ you stupid. You may have to use a Chronoglass.
  1673. Make sure it'll count.
  1674.
1675. - After the third save point, you'll find a teleport mirror and some
1676. walls you can walk through. The third boss is beyond the mirror, but
1677. it's completely optional. Considering how c_un7y these guys are, I highly
  1678. recommend you skip it.
1679. - When you equip the Magic Pouch, items will pop up in your inventory
1680. after walking a certain distance (a tone will tell you whenever this
1681. happens). You can RB it into a Magical Pouch, which gives you better
1682. items, but you can find one of those later. Either way, these items
1683. are not really noteworthy. You can find a list in the misc. file.
1684. - Once you reach the fourth save point and the music changes, you're
1685. getting close. There are no items in these areas. Once you reach the
1686. fifth save point, the final boss awaits.
  1687.
  1688. [Boss: Dhaos] FWTIELV
  1689. - 56 000 HP, 1000 TP, 330 ATP, 600 DFP IIIIIIR
  1690. - 50 000 xp, 32 000 G
1691. - He'll regenerate all physical damage above 75% HP and 50% physical
  1692. damage between 50-75% HP.
1693. - His normal attacks can inflict Petrification.
  1694. - Dhaos Laser: 1200 | Dhaos Corridor: 2320 | Para-Triangle: Stun
1695. - He can cast Meteor Swarm (5880).
1696. - If you keep your distance, you don't have to worry about the three
1697. aforementioned special attacks. When you're not close to him, he's
1698. likely to try casting a spell. This gives you a nice opportunity to
  1699. attack.
  1700. |
  1701. [Boss] FWTIELV
  1702. - Head: 64 765 HP, 3765 TP, 250 ATP, 720 DFP RRRRIRR
  1703. - Arm: 40 765 HP, 1765 TP, 250 ATP, 720 DFP RRRRIIR
1704. - The head's normal attack is a spread shot called Chaos. His other
1705. physical attack is called Circular, which is an exploding ball with
1706. heavy knockback. The arm will also hit you if you get too close.
1707. - He can cast Acid Rain, Cure (5700), Tidal Wave (5168) and Meteor
1708. Swarm (6168). His special attacks are Last Ray (2292, V) and Tride
1709. (1592 + poison). He'll start casting offensive magic once the arm is
1710. gone. This makes him more vulnerable since he can't cast these while
1711. invincible. He also stops using Acid Rain and Circular. Destroying the
1712. arm is not necessary, however.
1713. - His most common action is Hidden, which makes both the head and arm
1714. invincible for a while. Try to anticipate when it ends (or just use
  1715. Chronoglasses).
1716. - Shugohoujin is clearly the way to go here. Nothing else really works.

  1748. Boss: Wyvern
1749. - Go north from B9 to find some people and the entrance to the new
1750. areas. When you proceed past the first save point, all your Holy Bottles
1751. will break. You won't be able to use those here (unless you get them
1752. from a Pouch). The only other save point is right at the bottom. If
1753. you're gonna do this, make sure you have a couple of hours at hand.
1754. - If you want your Holy Bottles back in the same slot, equip a weapon
1755. you only have one of other than the Eternal Sword. Once the bottles
1756. break, equip the Eternal Sword, and the previous weapon should end up
1757. in the Holy Bottle slot. After completing the dungeon, equip that weapon
1758. to free up the slot, then just buy Holy Bottles.
1759. - The Exp is really good, and you can gain as many as 20 levels going
  1760. through the place.
1761. - There are two sets of encounters that mainly alternate between levels.
1762. The encounters you can easily run away from are:
  1763. × Isis × 2x Sokram
  1764. × 2x Bigfoot × Garfbeast
  1765. × Beast Master & Manticore × Land Urchin
  1766.
1767. - The Manticore can petrify you. Eye Laser has 2000 base damage.
1768. - Boarboars can be rather unpleasant, especially if Mint is wasting
1769. time clearing the poison they inflict. Push them against the wall and
1770. they'll largely do nothing. You'll likely need Kuukanshouten'i to
1771. accomplish that. Do not underestimate them.
1772. - Beast Masters can use Summon Demon for a mild 1220 base damage.
1773. - Ice Elements can cast Tidal Wave (5000) and Cure (5400).
  1774. - Sokrams can cast Explode (4000).
1775. - Magus can cast Tidal Wave (4600) and Indignation (4200). You'll likely
1776. have to eat one of those if you run away from them.
1777. - As far as I know, there's no way to kill the Land Urchin.
1778. - I run away from Bigfoots, Manticores, Garfbeasts and Maguses.
1779. - The Berserk Arrow is by far Chester's most powerful weapon.
1780. - You can get Janpais if you take Ivory to the Island Armory. You can
1781. use the item during battle to deal some damage (2000 base).
  1782. - It's simple and linear up until B18.
