  1. It was around 4:00 in the afternoon when I decided to go for a walk around the city. It was a nice day and I had more free time than I knew what to do with after my recent High School graduation.
  2.
  3. After walking around for some time, I decided to go down to the outer areas and look around there. I’ve never been around those parts and I was feeling intensely curious about what happens outside of my insulated neighborhood.
  4.
  5. After about an hour I reached the outskirts of a residential area, a place completely alien to me. Tall, gray, brutalist buildings filled each side of the road casting their intimidating presence onto me making me regret coming here. Oddly enough, the streets were completely clean of trash and looked well maintained so that was a plus in its favor.
  6.
  7. Up ahead I could see a crowd forming around something on the sidewalk and could hear a voice shouting from that area. Interested in what’s going on, I walked closer to the crowd to see what was captivating all of them.
  8.
  9. “We must consolidate all the Lycans of this world and unite them under a single banner! There must be a home for our kind! One people, one state!” I heard a loud and emotional voice cry out this statement, no doubt belonging to a Lycan. Looking at the crowd I noticed that everyone had the signature fluffy wolf-like ears and tails along with their unique eyes that held colors only Lycans had. No males could be seen in the crowd at all, so this really wasn’t a place for humans.
  10.
  11. The crowd was silent, everyone had blank uncomprehending expressions on their faces, yet they still looked at her intently. The speaker paced back and forth on a row of cardboard boxes, huffing and scoffing at herself while making angry mumbles and wringing her hands together. It seemed she didn’t appreciate the crowd’s indifference.
  12.
  13. Most of the Lycans here had normal work clothes, but the speaker had adorned combat boots, cargo pants, a dress shirt, all topped off with a peaked cap with an unfamiliar insignia in the middle of it. All of it in black. She was an extremely odd sight to see and I felt an urge to understand what she’s so riled up about.
  14.
  15. “C-c-can’t you see!? The only way we’re going to find a m-m-mate is if we take control of the government and claim them for ourselves!” She seemed about to pop a gasket with her face turning red, her fists clenching, and her stiff tail making erratic movements. “And not just that! We must also exterminate every last one of those disgusting, horrifying, man-grabbing Tigras!” Her voice reached a shrill peak on that last part, she seemed ready to cry.
  16.
  17. The Tigras she mentioned were another race, they had the same extended ears and tails of Lycans but more characteristic of cats. Also, their behavior was much different from Lycans, with them usually being loners with a skill for deception and seduction. The latter skill is what Lycans lack, perpetually infuriating them because their potential mates are taken by Tigras.
  18.
  19. As I was thinking about the animosity between Lycans and Tigras, the speaker’s red eyes that had been roving over the crowd looking for reactions spotted me in all of my human maleness. I heard an audible gasp from her as her face froze in an expression of utter shock, then suddenly she sprinted off the boxes towards me, kicking the boxes behind her in the process. Before I could react she was right in front of me panting heavily while gripping my hands with a huge smile on her face.
  20.
  21. “Y-y-y-y-you’re a male…! My first... male... Follower!” She gasped out, her clammy hands gripping mine harder. Now that she was this close I could clearly see her big blood red eyes on her pale face staring creepily into mine. I also noticed the short and messy black hair framing her face underneath that peaked cap, as well as the equally black ears perked up and twitching on the sides and her black tail shooting up ramrod straight.
  22.
  23. “Uh… Follower…?” I asked hesitant, pretty shaken up by what just happened and slightly intimidated by this Lycan in front of me.
  24.
  25. “Yes. Follower.” She said quietly but with certainty, her smile revealing some of her sharper teeth. Suddenly, her smile transformed into a sneer as she looked at the shocked crowd around her. “Everyone! Today’s meeting is officially over! Return to your respective houses at once!” She shouted, her commanding aura absolute if not for the noticeable blush on her face.
  26.
  27. The surrounding Lycans still looked shocked by my arrival, staring at me while whispering to each other, but nonetheless, they obeyed the command and walked back to their homes nearby.
  28.
  29. “I… I can’t say how… happy I am that someone of your kind has agreed to join and commit to my Movement. Tell me, what is your name? Wait! Where are my manners! Stupid, stupid…” She started mumbling insults at herself while still in front of me. Her grip on my hands remained tight and I was scared to resist her because she seemed pretty unstable. Also, she had about an inch on me in height and Lycans were known for their... tenacity, so it seemed pointless to try.
  30.
  31. “My… My name… Uh… Followers of my Movement refer to me as the Commandant! B-b-but… You can call me Lily… Just don’t tell anyone…” She stammered out while looking at the ground.
  32.
  33. “My name’s Anon.” I said as calmly as I could. It seemed only polite to reciprocate after she gave her name, even if I had a sneaking suspicion that she had unsavory things in mind for me.
  34.
  35. “Anon! What a nice name! A nice name for a nice person, hehehe…” It was official, I was very creeped out by this Lycan, Lily. The dim evening light accentuated that intense red glow of her eyes turning it into a predatory leer in the darkness. Wait… Dim evening light? How late is it?
  36.
  37. “Uh… I’m sorry Lily, it’s getting late and my parents are probably worried. I should be heading back home.” I said as nicely as I could. Her face immediately fell from happiness to what looked like abject despair as I told her this, her hands gripped mine harder for a second but then hesitantly loosened for me to wriggle out.
  38.
  39. “Oh… We just met… I was hoping to get to know my… special Follower some more, but I suppose another time…” She said sadly. I smiled gently at her as I took a few steps away to call my mom. Lily was still nearby.
  40.
  41. Of course with those ears of hers, Lily could easily hear my conversation, so I had to make sure to use only nice words.
  42.
  43. “Hey, Mom, sorry it’s so late I was spending time with a... uh... friend.” I could see Lily stiffen up when she heard her title. Wait, was she sniffing her hands?
  44.
  45. “Oh, sweetie, it’s so nice you’re spending time outside your room for once! And with other people too! You can stay out as long as you want, anything to keep you outside!” My mom exclaimed happily, she was definitely going to celebrate with my dad tonight. I’ve just always been a bit… Reserved in my life.
  46.
  47. “Yes… Alright, Mom… Bye.” I swear I could hear a yip of excitement when I hung up the phone, though I couldn’t tell if it was from my mom or Lily. Probably both.
  48.
  49. “So… It seems you’re free for tonight.” Lily said, stepping towards me. She looked downright terrifying at night with that black uniform of hers and those ruby red eyes oddly glowing in the dark. Before she got any closer I could hear a dull rumble coming from her. “Oh… That’s right, I didn’t eat dinner yet, I’m starving… Would you… Like to eat... with me…?” She said hesitantly. “I-I know a great place around here, and I’ll p-p-pay for you too!” She took my hands again.
  50.
  51. “Y-yeah, sure…” How could I refuse anyway?
  52.
  53.
  54. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  55.
  56.
  57. It was a fairly short walk out of the neighborhood to the restaurant, and throughout the whole way I couldn't spot any humans around, just Lycans moving about in groups talking amongst each other. I did catch some odd stares directed at me though, yet no one seemed to bat an eye at the black-uniformed radical right next to me. Also, I'm starting to think that Lycans appreciate the tall gray buildings aesthetic.
  58.
  59. My "tour guide", Lily, insisted on keeping me close while gripping my hand as we traversed the streets, justifying it by saying it was to avoid having me get lost. An appreciated gesture I guess, but it still didn't soothe my nerves around her.
  60.
  61. Stepping into the restaurant I could immediately feel the hot humid air filled with the scent of burning fat hit my face, that was going to be a pain to get out of my clothes. The place seemed to have an odd rustic look with a mix of wood and iron making up the structure and tables as well as very low lighting. Also, it was practically filled to the brim with other Lycans all dining together around cramped tables, fortunately, our hostess was able to find us a more isolated corner next to an open window.
  62.
  63. "I'm uh... sorry it's not very fancy... But trust me! The food is great!" Lily said, holding her menu with shaking hands. I attempted a reassuring smile in response, then opened my menu. It seemed like everything on the menu would lead to morbid obesity, everything was some fatty high-calorie meal filled with slabs of meat and potatoes. When the waitress came I decided to request the more reasonable item, some boneless ribs with a side of bread and steamed vegetables.
  64.
  65. After hearing my choice, Lily seemed to tense up with a nervous look on her face. She beckoned the waitress closer and mumbled something that only Lycan ears can hear. With a silent nod, the waitress collected our menus and left.
  66.
  67. "So...", Lily began, focusing on me with an odd intensity with those blood red eyes of her.
