  6. The module outline offers a useful list of learning objectives and the reference code is very helpful. The outline might benefit by: 1) a contextual introduction and 2) a time table of the module organized by sub-topic (eg, how much time to spend on each sub-topic). The outline might further benefit by introducing the problem and/or opportunity that the topic addresses and a reference to simple code that demonstrates that opportunity. The lecture part of the outline could benefit by offering a flow for the instruction with major sub-topics and key details to be covered along with code alongs, demos, and exercises. Lastly, topic references would be helpful for both the instructor and the students.

  10. The instruction offers helpful examples and demonstrations of concepts via code in the development tools and a code editor. Moreover, the instructor is a clear and precise communicator. The video / lesson might be even more effective by opening with a few visual aids, such as a presentation that outlines the learning objectives and purpose for the lecture, references for the material to be covered and contextual information about the topic, eg: why are we exploring the topic?, what is the problem or opportunity the topic addresses? The lesson might also be enhanced by an application demo of the topic to connect the coding examples the instructor provides. These enhancements might be helpful for top-down, contextual learners.

  12. The lesson may also benefit by several in-lesson exercises for the class to practice the new skills, building the students up more incrementally. This along with a presentation of solutions can engender more confidence and greater comprehension on the part of the students. The instructor might also do more check-ins with the students to ask if they are understanding the material and to check on their understanding as well. Also, resources might be offered for additional practice and confidence building on the material, as well as, references for continued learning on the topic.
  13.
  14. In terms of structure, the lesson might be re-organized based on a small project or objective, through which, the topic is demonstrated. An example might be a simple application that requires functions to be invoked directly and from inside an object illustrating how the different contexts affect the value of the "this" keyword and how the issues can be addressed. Covering the topics within the context of a simple objective or project can help students both learn and remember the lesson more effectively.
