  7.
  8. >After cutting out the entire left socket, Octavia yanks it out of the corpse
  9. >Anon’s left eye loses and regains vision at an alarming rate
  10. >Agony
  11. >That’s the only way this pain could be described
  12. >Yet he couldn’t scream
  13. >Octavia threatens to pull Anon’s arm out of his socket as he’s brought to the table
  14. >”I wanted you to have the FIRST slice!”
  15. >Out of everything happening, nothing was more out of place than Octavia’s animation in her voice
  16. >Monotonous melancholy was essentially part of her core, wasn’t it?
  17. >She didn’t even act like this when being sarcastic
  18. >Staring at the slice of the head, Anon freezes with dread as his own eye stares back
  19. >It’s like all of those other f-king stares
  20. >Judging
  21. >Contempt
  22. >Disgust
  23. >Every f-king time, it managed to make him quiver inside
  24. >He’s always despised any sort of unexpected attention, especially physical
  25. >A nip to the ear causes Anon to jolt
  26. >Octavia is giving an almost sultry smile
  27. >”Tryyyy iiiit~”
  28. >Much to Anon’s dismay, Octavia was now lightly brushing her finger across his body with a soft growl
  29. >It was f-king wrong, she’s his sister
  30. >...Yeah, f-k this!
  31. >”STOP IT!”
  32. >Anon shoots up and shoves Octavia to the side, no longer believing this was his house, nor was the thing in front of her his sister
  33. >But then, there were the tears
  34. >The kind he’s always hated to see
  35. >Because it told him he failed, every time
  36. -----
  37. Owls and a Fool Chapter III Part V
  38.
  39. >It wasn’t just any sort of failure
  40. >It was the feeling of your entire world crashing around you because you just couldn’t do it
  41. >’You had one job’ they’d say
  42. >From there, you would have no reason to live
  43. >This was what encapsulated Anon’s mind
  44. >He wanted to tear everything in his sight to shreds, but he couldn’t bring himself to move
  45. >There was too much doubt and self-loathing within himself
  46. >”...I knew it-”
  47. >The fake resemblance of his sister is cut off by a crack in her voice
  48. >A new anger overtakes her
  49. >”Whenever you feel like I’m too close you just push me away!”
  50. >”All of you do!”
  51. >”Is it because you’re scared of intimacy? Of failing your oh so SIMPLE task of keeping your family healthy? Are you so much of a coward that you can’t even trust yourself to approach or try to help?”
  52. >THAT struck a nerve
  53. >Oh, how he wanted to slam this imposter into the wall without any mercy
  54. >Yet not only could he still not move
  55. >He knew she was right
  56. >Only when he acknowledged this and let go of his anger could he feel his body
  57. >’...Help her, God damn it.’
  58. >Step by step, Anon approached what was essentially the reflection of his fear of failure
  59. >It all centered around her
  60. >The sister he’ll gladly die for
  61. >He was going to help, no matter what happens to him in the process
  62. >Ignoring the knife still clutched in Octavia’s hand, he simply wraps his arms around her
  63. >He couldn’t feel every part of her body
  64. >”I love you, Ock. I’m willing to do anything for my family.”
  65. >Time seems to slow to a crawl once again
  66. >”Y-”
  67. >”Ock, you can tell me anything, you know.”
  68. >”...You’re weak.”
  69. >What?
  70. >You don’t really notice the pain of a kitchen knife shoved into your abdomen until a few seconds after, huh?
  71. >”You ought to be more careful. You could end up being your own cause of death that way.”
  72. >Anon notices a floaty sense through the nausea-inducing wound
  73. >Oh, f-k

  76.
  77. >The world becomes a blur as Anon is launched out of his space at an incalculable speed
  78. >As soon as it came, the launch turns into a nasty halt as he tumbles across the floor, surely giving him bruises from the impact
  79. >”Ugh…”
  80. >The first thing Anon notices when he opens his eyes is the nigh-zero visibility thanks to an ominous fog clouding up the valley
  81. >The next thing were the sirens
  82. >Followed by helicopters, radio chatter, and an immense wave of heat
  83. >He could see a silhouette of someone begin to appear, showing it facing away from Anon
  84. >”Hey.”
  85. >It still stood there, soullessly, yet it responded
  86. >”Hello.”
  87. >A few seconds is all it takes for the details to come to
  88. >The seraphim pistol hanging simply from his fingertips
  89. >The nearly all black clothing, striking with a duster and a refined cowboy hat
  90. >The dress pants and shoes blending in perfectly
  91. >To top it off, droplets of blood on it all
  92. >And then the mist flies away…
  93. >To show the two of them on top of some sort of royal building
  94. >Wasn’t this Beelzebub’s?!
  95. >So many things were on fire, it was sheer chaos
  96. >The what-would-be green sky of Gluttony was a complete red, with the sun emitting an apocalyptic white and red aura
  97. >Anon, talk!
  98. >”Hey- please. Say something.”
  99. >”Talk to me.”
  100. >The wind blows harshly against it’s clothes, unphased by it’s selves words
  101. >Only then did Anon realize this was himself
  102. >The sound of a bass rises as circles form in Anon’s vision, closing in on his counterpart
  103. >”Embrace yourself.”
  104. >It’s body turns in a blur, only giving Anon a split second to see the weapon shooting into him with a flash
  105. >”F-K!”
  106. >The flash recedes to show his room, with his body untouched
  107. >Whatever was going on... he didn’t like it one bit
  108.
  109. And that's Chapter III for you all. Sorry it was so short.

  121.
  122. >The gusts of wind did nothing to help the shivers
  123. >The sun gave off… no warmth
  124. >You really only understand the freezing cold of high altitude after you’re up there
  125. >Here is Anon, gazing down a far view of Pentagram City from the very top of Goetia Manor
  126. >The balcony was starting to get old
  127. >And so was everything, really
  128. >It had been a week since his nightmare, and since then he’d only give short phrases to his family as they passed by
  129. >No emotion lied in anything
  130. >It was all blocked by the confusion and apathy that plagued Anon’s mind
  131. >There had been no point in his life where he’s felt more disconnect than now
  132. >Too much fog made itself at home in his head
  133. >There it was again, that reeling rage and hollow emptiness
  134. >So much of it that his vision was altered, shaky
  135. >It made him want to slam some worthless f-k’s head into a table, or shoot whichever as shole could be using a certain spider he knows
  136. >Yet he couldn’t bring himself down to their level
  137. >He never could
  138. >A sudden thought intrudes Anon’s head, reminding him that he does in fact have someone to talk to
  139. >Not like it would be helpful to talk to the family anyway
  140. >He didn’t have to scroll far down his contacts list
  141. >Lord knows he was not the social type, lest the likeable one
  142. >One name under ‘M’
  143. >Moxxie
  144. >It’s possible he might not have anything valuable to say
  145. >But it wouldn’t hurt to try
  146. ----------------------
  147. Owls and a Fool Chapter IV Part II
  148.
  149. >Tap tap
  150. >The hellphone lets out a shriek as it dials Anon’s odd acquaintance
  151. >Every passing second left the hollow emotionlessness to grow
  152. >Just when Anon was about to hang up, the line connects
  153. >”Immediate Murder Professionals, this is Moxxie.”
  154. >Oh, now what?
  155. >He hadn’t exactly prepared a speech for him
  156. >”Moxxie? Uh, hey. It’s Anon.”
  157. >Even that alone made him want to curl into a ball and die
  158. >”OH! Um- I-I wasn’t expecting you to call this early, your- Anon.”
  159. >Satan, please no more reminding him of his status in the hierarchy
  160. >”W-what can I do for you?”
  161. >Pouring out your problems to someone you just met?
  162. >What a dckhead move
  163. >”Just, stay here for a minute, okay?”
  164. >”...Okay.”
  165. >It’s all beginning to come down
  166. >If there was only one person to trust on this, then so be it
  167. >The stress from failing to help his sister, the replaying memories of his parents fighting day and night
  168. >The addictions, the absurd horrible society
  169. >It was now too much
  170. >”I-”
  171. >Anon chokes on his own words, eyes throbbing in pain from trying to hold tears
  172. >If there’s one person he so desperately wanted to apologize to
  173. >It was Ock, his wonderful sister who he wouldn’t trade the Nine Circles for
  174. >He was doing this despite his knowledge of her chronic depression
  175. >And he didn’t care enough to stop
  176. >Anon’s mind flashes with memories of Octavia looking at him with her rare genuine smiles
  177. >It’s too much
  178. >”Hello?”
  179. >”Moxxie, I’m calling to say goodbye.”
  180. --------
  181. Owls and a Fool Chapter IV Part III
  182.
  183. >”...What?”
  184. >”Listen, I uh…”
  185. >Come on, Anon. You’re pathetic
  186. >Can’t even leave without properly explaining why?
  187. >SPEAK YOU WASTE OF HELLISH AIR
  188. >”...I can’t do-”
  189. >A whoosh hits Anon’s back, a gust of wind prompts him to look down to the city again
  190. >Yet, despite none of the view changing, it was as if he was seeing a whole new world
  191. >Now, the colors seemed to pop into a wave of beauty
  192. >A continuous breeze greets Anon again, prompting his jacket to dance with the wind’s motion
  193. >As well as a single sheet of paper, with indiscernible words making up the lines that will never be read as it flies into the sky with the freedom of a bird
  194. >The evening rays pierce through the skyscrapers from the pentagram sun hiding behind them
  195. >These rays now held their own welcome warmth
  196. >As Anon notices the cars following their routine, an incredibly powerful burst of clarity freezes him in place
  197. >Those were all other denizens of hell
  198. >The same ones who hold the harsh pains of life, personal struggles trying to hold them back from discovering their purpose
  199. >Desperately searching through the endless labyrinth of their own mind to find out who they truly are
  200. >These people…
  201. >Really weren’t so different
  202. >And among those people were the few who want only the best for others, just like him
  203. >As with Octavia, they were… worth protecting
  204. >Is this what an epiphany feels like?
  205. >Not just an epiphany, but also…
  206. >A calling
  207. >”Talk to me when you can, Anon.”
  208. >A worried Moxxie breaks the silence with an uncharacteristic flawless sentence
  209. >How much time has passed?
  210. >Suddenly, he remembers what he wanted to do with him earlier at Loo Loo Land
  211. >To shoot in his home range with what hopefully will be his first real friend
  212. >Anon speaks up, with a rare true smile
  213. >”Mox?”
  214. >”Can you be over in thirty? I have something I wanted to show you.”
