- WARP(PC,PS3,X360)
- Story (2/3)
- minimal story. you are an alien that crashed on earth an taken to an secret underwater facility where you experimented on.
- you get an opportunity to escape and take it. for the whole game you roam this base trying to escape and trying to save other aliens along the way.
- despite being minimal, it somehow manages to touch some major issues. (even if not expanding each of those to much)
- for example (only one i can give without spoilering) you get to feel how a hunted lab rat feels.
- Gameplay (8/10)
- Stealth-Action-Puzzler.
- the core mechanic is your ability to warp around for short distances.
- you can use it to warp through walls or into objects. for example you can warp into barrels to hide in them or into humans.. for very gruesome display.
- i'll let you watch the trailer
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNroYXqPmEM
- and so you make your way though the hostile base half sneaking half .. ah.. the complete opposite of sneaking?
- you do so while being on the lookout for (quite well hidden) alien-candy-things that you can use to upgrade yourself.
- the gameplay is quite original and ..at least right now.. i can't think of another similar game. maybe some hybrid between zelda and a stealth game?
- Graphics (2.7/3)
- as you seen in the trailer, it is quite nice 2.5D graphics.
- and as i said, the violence can be surprisingly .. graphical, for a game that otherwise would look subtle. it uses the Unreal engine, so outdated PCs probably won't be able to run it well.
- Repalyability (1/3)
- it's there, but it isn't really good.
- there are 3 endings that you'll get depending on your playstyle. (quiet, noisy or something in between) but i believe that unless you are one of those people who like self imposed challenges (a.k.a clearing the game without killing a single person) your play style won't be vastly different because you'll have more then enough chances to try both being noisy and stealthy.
- you can also collect all the hidden items in the base if you haven't done so in the first playthrough. i did.
- additionally you can try to complete the (devilishly hard) challenges with better times (and earn the XP-candies in the process) but Leaderboards where never my style.
- Final score: 7.8/10.
- if you like Stealth/Puzzle/Zelda games. check it out. otherwise? you might still like it, but no guaranties. try the demo or something.
