- Hey there :3
- Okay, first off, your terrain. I feel like the wave would count as terrain so here we go.
- As much of an interesting idea as this is, and original, and creative, it doesn't show much detail in the way of your building skills. It doesn't look realistic first off, and I think that's because of it's size on the plot you have right now. I like that it's not the same as every other plot around however, and I feel like if you want to keep something of this theme, you may want to steer more towards the organics route. (I'll get to that later)
- So if you want to go with the wave theme, you need to make it a little more realistic first off. Change some of the blocks, because wool really doesn't achieve the realism. Secondly, make it more curvy - it kind of bends in the middle, which a wave doesn't do. I think really study how waves work, how they curve, where they break etc. If you really want to make this realistic looking. If not, try a different style - up to you.
- Secondly, your structure. It's basic in design, has far too many windows and no detail or depth. If this were any other plot, I would tell you in detail how you could change it to make it better, but if you're sticking with the wave plot, I don't think it's a good idea to keep the house, or beach area, at all. I would make the remainder of the plot water to really focus on the wave.
- (Again, this is only if you really want to stay with the wave. Like I said, it's a creative route, but it could be difficult and may take you longer to rank than a normal, terrainy plot, just saying.)
- Lastly, organics. I mentioned these earlier.
- So I think it'd be a nice idea if you kept the wave, to have some fish swimming in it, maybe dolphins diving out, starfish on the ocean floor etc. You could even dig lower into your plot and make a coral/reef bed, that'd be amazing! And it'd show so much more of your organic skill that you clearly enjoy, considering you made a wave instead of a grass plot.
- If you choose to go a different route and make a grass plot, then good luck. Remember different layers of grass, detail and depth in your structure, and lovely organics (Which could just be trees on any other plot).
- Here's some links that may help you with the reef:
- http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01556/reef_1556448c.jpg - Coral is a nice thing to make in Minecraft. You can make all those little spikes coming off, or you could just make a simple, orange, spikey thing that looks somewhat similar to that. That'd be me, anyways xD
- http://www.funonthenet.in/images/stories/forwards/great-barrier-reef/great-barrier-reef-turtle.jpg - Turtles are often found in a reef, and are super cute. I've yet to see someone make a turtle on this server, wanna be the first? ;)
- http://www.welldevelop.com/ma/ChartBlue.jpg - There's a bunch of different fish you can find in a coral reef. This is a really useful picture actually because there's some really exotic fish there, colourful, different shapes etc. Could really show how vast and creative you are if you made some of these!
- http://www.animalsplannet.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Starfish-Pictures-Underwater-2.jpg - Starfish are honestly amazing to look at, and just one picture does not give them justice. They come in so many different colours, you should honestly just search for yourself - They're typically depicted as orange, but the ones right at the bottom of the ocean are known to vary from bright blue to spotted red. They're amazing and definitely fun to build ^.^
- http://www.noupe.com/wp-content/uploads/trans/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/waves_3.jpg - Lastly, here's a wave image. Notice how the sea mist covers the entire top of the wave, instead of just the front like you've done. As well, because of the current in the sea, the wave doesn't come over all at once - it comes over gradually from each side. This means that one side of the wave on your plot should be pushed back a little, just to make it a little more realistic.
- There's just some images you could use. If you don't find them useful, Google is your friend. Or Bing. Or Yahoo. Or whatever you use, I don't know xD But it's simple to just research some things that will help, rather than going off memory. It really shows you've put care and effort into your build if you do that, because it shows you're dedication.
- Huge review but I hope you take everything on board.
- Again, if you choose not to go down the route of the ocean/reef concept, which I kind of went off on one about (My apologies!) then the basics to a new plot is starting with terrain.
- A couple layers, meaning gradually making the terrain come higher, like a hill, with some flat land. Or you could go one better and make a small cliff - maybe even a HUGE cliff.
- Have a little fly around spawn, see if you can get any inspiration.
- Good luck in whatever you decide to go with!
