If he were pleased about surviving ("survivor glee") he'd smile on both sides and more importantly - not worry about hiding it. He stops himself because he knows it's inappropriate. It's only inappropriate if he is lying his a$$ off. The other side of his face remains under control. He makes an effort to control his smirk. He has his hand literally in the cookie jar. If it were me in that situation - and if it were a real event that I had survived - I'd let myself smile. Why would I hide it? I'd be sure to tell everyone how happy I felt to have gotten through the "Orlando Ordeal". (Oops - I've given "them" something to work with!)
