  1. >You awaken to the sound of waves and seagulls
  2. >Sit up, yawning a bit and rubbing your back
  3. >Sleeping on the ground isn't really doing wonders for your spinal cord
  4. >The size of the island thankfully meant no real predators, and there's no bites either
  5. >Aside from the plants, you are the only living thing on the island
  6. >Good to know
  7. >Break open one of the coconuts and consume the milk and meat within
  8. >It's not much, but it'll do
  9. >Head out to the beach of the island
  10.
  11.
  12. >Same old waves, same old ocean
  13. >Only this one has seaponies in it
  14. >Could be worse
  15. >Decide that you need some tools, and hopefully the seaponies will provide them
  16. >You revoke any manliness you have call out for the seaponies
  17. >SHOO BE DOO SHOO SHOO BE DOO
  18. >Oh god you can litterally feel your manhood squirming in pain
  19. >At first, nothing happens
  20. >But then you see white and minty green in the distance
  21. >Seapony Lyra has arrived
  22. >Her eyes widen and she zooms toward you, levitating out of the water
  23. >Before you know it, she's right in front of you, looking you over
  24. >Her expression isn't as estatic anymore
  25. >'Well, your upper half is right, but. . .your lower half isn't anything like a merman. . .'
  26. >Oh jeez
  27.
  28.
  29. >Explain to her that you are a human, and that even in your world, mermen are mythical creatures as well
  30. >She sighs, but at least she seems content that you are half of what she expected
  31. >You tell her that you need some help with stuff, mainly procuring tools to help with your survival
  32. 'Do you have anything like. . an axe, maybe?'
  33. >'Oh sure. We use axes to cut down coral for buildings. I don't see any coral up here, though.'
  34. >You point to the trees behind you and say that they are like land versions of coral
  35. >Her eyes widen at this and she bemoans the fact she doesn't have a notebook or anything
  36. 'Can you get that for me, then? It'd really help me out. I'll let you watch me use my hands too.'
  37. >'Yes, yes! This'll be so cool. I'll get Prawn-Prawn to come with me. She doesn't think mermen exist, but when she sees you!'
  38. >She is beside herself with giddiness
  39. >You hate to ask her this next question because of how uncomfortable it might be
  40.
  41.
  42. 'So you can get me this axe. . .do you think you could get me some fish?'
  43. >She looks at you curiously. 'Fish can't survive on land. You should know that. Besides, who needs those guys when you can talk to me?'
  44. >You sigh
  45. 'Well. It's not companionship. I need fish so I can eat them.'
  46. >She looks at you, her eyes wide with fear and curiosity
  47. 'I'm an omnivore. I could survive on coconuts alone, sure, but that's just not something I'd like to do. Imagine, if you well, being forced to eat one kind of food so suddenly when you are used to a healthy variety. That's kind of the position I am in.'
  48. >She lowers herself into the water, one of her fin . . .hoof. . .things under her chin
  49. 'I know it's a lot to ask. Fish are probably sapient down there, or something. If. . .you could find some kind of meat, anything. . .'
  50. >'Are you planning to eat me?'
  51. >Woah where did that come from
  52.
  53.
  54. 'No, not at all.'
  55. >'Why not?'
  56. 'Because that wouldn't make any sense. I couldn't eat you. Your sapient, and you've got friends down there. And the last thing I want to do is make myself seem like a monster.'
  57. >She lets out a faint 'hmmm' and looks up at you.
  58. >'Well, I'll have to think about it.'
  59. >She lifts herself out of the shallow water with her magic and heads back out into the ocean, diving beneath the waves
  60. >You probably should have kept quiet about wanting to eat fish
  61. >Being a vegan might not be too horrible
  62.
  63.
  64. >Spend the rest of the day trying to climb up some of the palm trees for those most excellent leaves
  65. >They'd probably make a sorta decent bedding of sorts and they'd cover you up too
  66. >Maybe you could even make some tribal looking clothes
  67. >These swim trunks are getting itchy and you don't feel like going all natrual just yet
  68. >Getting the leaves isn't as easy as you thought, and knocking them down with your trusty rock isn't as easy either
  69. >By the end of the day, you eventually have a decent pile of palm leaves in your little area, minus a couple more coconuts
  70. >Might need to get some more soon
  71. >You arrange them so that you can lay down on them
  72. >It's not much better than laying on the ground, but it'll do
  73. >Still a little daylight left
  74. >You decide to look for seashells for the rest of the day
  75. >You failed your search check
  76. >You sigh and turn to head in for the night, when you hear something
  77. >'Hey, human!'
  78. >You turn to see Seapony Lyra, waving her fin at you
  79.
  80.
  81. >You walk out to the water where it's waist high so she doesn't have to expend the effort of levitating for you
  82. >She presents to you an axe made from thick coral and basalt, as well as what appears to be some kind of mouse trap with a hermit crab in it, dead
  83. >You take them and raise your eyebrow slightly
  84. >'Hermit crabs are a real pest. Vermin and whatnot. I don't think anyp0ny will mind if you eat these little guys. '
  85. >You've never seen one without the shell before
  86. >Better than nothing, and hey, crab will probably taste good
  87. >You don't have enough time to get everything ready for a fire, and you are pretty tired from today's activities
  88. >Tell her to come back whenever she catches one, and tell her you'll use the axe tomorrow
  89. >She squees and turns to go, but you stop her
  90. 'Hey. . . sorry if I scared you earlier.'
  91. >She turns and smiles. 'Well, not all mythical creatures are sunshine and rainbows, right?' She asks.
  92. 'Of course. See you later then, yeah?'
  93. >She waves goodbye and swims out, and you head back to your little area, axe in hand
  94. >Things are looking up
  95. >Fall asleep in your pile of palm leafs, content with the way things are
