- Originally, I had set everything to private due to unconfirmed rumors of people having their vaporwave albums circa 2013 getting DMCA'd and taken down. Notably, the status quo of vaporwave has greatly changed now and people are vastly creative with the way they are creating their albums. The scene has shifted from simple "chopped and screwed" production methods like myself and are now full-on original compositions that are very impressive and more monumental in their influence on the genre. There are definitely some that do a lot more with simply going into Audacity and simply slowing the speed to 45 RPM (which you will basically find a lot of samples that I have used by reversing the effect.) With my little project, it was really something more of an exercise of finding whatever I could that sounded neat and simply slowing it down to really hear how different of a song it was after doing such a thing. A lot of the source material I used was pulled from everything from the Gran Turismo series to old 80's singles, to various other PS1 and PS2 games, to the Weather Channel, etc. etc.
- As for why I decided to use the Toyota Celica as a moniker? To be honest, I don't really even know. From what I have heard, it's not even that good of a car model. I guess there weren't really any people using older model vehicles other than the staple 80's lambos or ferrari's so I just decided on something that was definitive in the 90's yet lacked to leave something of an impact on media relating to vehicles. I also find that I am somewhat obsessed with the entire aesthetic revolving around car showcases and auto shows with the smooth bossa nova type jazz that gives off a tasteful atmosphere yet an underlying emotion of pretentiousness (which can definitely be attributed to this project, heh.)
- Lurking for the past 5 years, I'm kind of glad that I was able to leave something of a tiny mark on vaporwave history by being musically included in a couple of high profile YouTubers that deal with vehicles and by making my way onto vaporwave essentials charts. I even saw one user on Reddit claim that they actually had one of my songs playing inside of some sushi bar in Tokyo, which I wondered if that was even deliberate or if it was an accident due to autoplay or something. Either way, if people sought enjoyment from what I did here, I feel like there can't be any harm from making it public again. And it'll stay that way this time (until the free downloads for the month run out that is)
