I can say I've heard more than one album by AFI unlike 3TEETH. That alone makes them win this one.

Comment: Swallow the Sun is one of the bands I have got really into over time. I put "Rooms and Shadows" on overrcore and people liked it a lot. They have just the right blend of what I want from doom metal. Usually their music is melancholic but not overly brooding, has a good amount of melody while still retaining that doomy atmosphere, and is often just the right level of heaviness.

Aleah's passing changed the band. Their latest album, focused primarily on guitarist/songwriter Juha Raivio's mourning and attempts to move on after his wife's passing, is a lot softer and more stripped down. It took a bit to grow on me, but it works extremely well, both in the context of recent events and in the actual music. The heavy moments are now fewer and far between, making them that much more impactful. "Stone Wings" is my favorite song off of this album, and it best displays this change in sound.

Swallow the Sun was tied with Avenged Sevenfold. I only really like one A7X album (Waking the Fallen), and although I gotta rep Orange County bands, my icon says it all about who's my choice between the two bands.
