  1. About new e-commerce store
  2. I plan to set up a new e-commerce store, I already have one on Etsy but will transition to have my own store with social media accounts, but don't know if Shopify is better for this purpose or WP, I'm selling T-shirts designed by printful, printful has shopify integration which is a great advantage, I know shopify has great advantages, but I think WP is better for SEO, is this even right? Which platform should I choose for this kind of business?

  14. I manage 6 e-commerce stores as my full time job and we use both Shopify and Magento. IMO shopify is the go to if you are new to CMS. It is really user friendly but very closed as in you can't customize backend features this is where Magento is a better choice if you want the latter.

  16. Hit me up if you need Any advice.
  17. Shopify or Wordpress. Magento will be a overkill for you.
  18.
  19. I guess WP is better for SEO then Shopify.
  20. You can do a lot of changes, speed ups ect.
  21.
  22. MAYBE these also can be done in Shopify but these i am not sure.
  23.
  24. I found a patent this summer which reminded me of the concept of a sea change and how search results could transform and undergo a sea change.
  25.
  26. One of the inventors I watch out for is Trystan Upstill, at one point the Head of Core Web Ranking and Mobile Content Search at Google.
  27.
  28. He has been involved in some of the more interesting patents and processes at Google, like one I wrote about on How Google May Rank Some Results Based on Categorical Quality.
  29.
  30. If you read about that one, you may see some similarities to the patent I am writing about today.
  31.
  32. He writes about things that we may never visibly notice, that sort of happen behind the scenes (or curtains), and decide upon which pages may fill the search results we see in response to a query.
  33.
  34. A newly granted (July 2, 2019) patent from Google has his name on it as one of the inventors, and it was filed when he was still the head of Core Web Ranking at Google back in 2015.

  38. The patent starts out simply enough, by telling us:
  39.
  40.
  41. In an announcement in February, Google said:
  42.
  43. “With the availability of these new metrics to understand prominence, we plan to sunset average position in September of this year. If you currently use average position, we recommend that you start using these new metrics when measuring and optimizing for prominence.”
  44.
  45. Going forward, Google recommends using these new metrics as an alternative to the average position metric.

  50. When was the last time you performed a local online search?
  51.
  52. When you want to find a product or service in your area, do you dust off the ol’ phone book, or do you turn to your favorite search engine?
  53.
  54. Think about it: Say you live in Seattle, and you need to take your dog to the groomer, make dinner plans with your friends, and check movie listings.
  55.
  56. Oh, and you have got to take your coat to the dry cleaner.
  57.
  58. Will you search for:
  59.
  60. A) dog groomers
  61. B) Mexican restaurants
  62. C) movie listings
  63. D) dry cleaners in Seattle Ballard
  64.
  65. I hope you chose option D.
  66.
  67. According to a Google consumer study, “4 in 5 consumers use search engines to find local information.”
  68.
  69. If you’re like 80% of the rest of the world, you’re probably looking for local information online, too.
