  14. Forse non tutti sanno che...
  15. ... le cosiddette "colonne sonore ufficiali", che formavano il primo megapack di Star Trek the Music Project, non sono OST, ossia Original Soundtracks dei film della famosissima saga. In realtà, si tratta di estratti musicali significativi delle colonna sonora, quelli che sono in gergo definiti highlights, ossia i passaggi più belli... Non c'è dubbio che tale atteggiamento da parte delle case discografiche che hanno prodotto tale materiale è sempre stato visto di cattivo occhio dagli appassionati, che dei loro film preferiti volevano tutto, ma proprio tutto, e non soltanto un assaggino.
  16. Ma prima di avere la prima colonna sonora integrale passò parecchio tempo. Bisognò attendere il 20° anniversario dell'uscita del primo film di Star Trek, dove finalmente uscì - in tutto il suo splendore - la OST vera e propria della pellicola, accompagnata da un secondo CD, che comprendeva anche alcune interviste esclusive a Gene Roddenberry...
  17. Poi, è il caso di dirlo, il silenzio. Per molti anni.

Ciò non tolse il coraggio agli appassionati, che cercarono di produrre veri e propri bootleg, venduti sul mercato parallelo via internet, in pochissime e rare copie che scomparivano all'istante, magari per rispuntare in qualche altra nazione, sotto qualche altro nome e registrazione... Di quella pionieristica stagione ho voluto offrire tre esempi fra i migliori allora in circolazione e oggi del tutto introvabili.

  20. Nel frattempo, però, le cose si muovevano. Soprattutto grazie a piccole case produttrici, che pensarono bene di produrre le varie OST di Star Trek magari in edizione limitata, informando un ristretto giro di appassionati, in modo da esser sicure di poter piazzare subito la maggior parte dei pezzi e di non lavorare invano.

La-La Land Records, Intrada, Crescendo (che già si era distinta per una serie di cd dedicati alla serie classica televisiva) sono state le case discografiche che hanno affrontato la sfida, suscitando una risposta entusiastica da parte degli appassionati, che non attendevano altro. Ecco tutto quanto di meglio ha prodotto il mercato!

La maggior parte di queste colonne sonore integrali ha un doppio cd: nel primo, di solito, c'è finalmente la tanto desiderata OST; nel secondo, invece, è presente il vecchio cd rimasterizzato, con l'aggiunta di qualche bonus tracks, soprattutto effetti speciali sonori che hanno caratterizzato la pellicola.

  26. ... the so-called "official scores", which formed the first Megapack of Star Trek the Music Project, aren't OST, Original Soundtracks of the famous saga films. In fact, they are significant excerpts of the soundtrack, those that are defined in the jargon [i]highlights[/ i], that is the most beautiful passages ... There is no doubt that this attitude on the part of the record companies who have produced such material has always been seen in a bad eye by fans of their favorite movies that they wanted everything, absolutely everything, and not just a taste.
  27. But before you have the first soundtrack integral passed a long time. It was not until the 20th anniversary of the release of the first Star Trek movie, where they finally came out - in all its glory - the real OST of the film, accompanied by a second CD, which also included some exclusive interviews with Gene Roddenberry .. .

This did not take away the courage to fans, who sought to make real bootleg, sold on the parallel market via the internet, and in a few rare copies that disappeared instantly, perhaps to reappear in some other nation, under some other name and registration... Of that pioneering season I wanted to offer three examples among the best then in circulation and now completely unobtainable.

  31. In the meantime, though, things were moving. Especially thanks to small manufacturers, who thought it best to produce various OST Star Trek maybe limited edition, informing a select circle of fans, so as to be sure they can immediately put most of the pieces and not to work in vain.
  32. La-La Land Records, Intrada, Crescendo (who had already distinguished itself by a series of CDs of The Original Series) were the record companies who have faced the challenge, arousing an enthusiastic response from fans, who waited another. Here are all the best the market has produced!

  34. Most of these soundtracks have a double cd: in the first, usually, there is the much-desired OST; in the second, instead, is the old cd remastered, with the addition of some bonus tracks, especially special sound effects that have characterized the film.
