If RBY is so bad as you say it is, it definitely should not be part of our tournament scene and we shouldn't be investing our time into banning so many things that have defined this metagame for over 20 years just to have a new version of it kept in SPL.

that might be true, but it still doesnt change the fact that rby had a huge change, so his argument is null
so why in gods name is "changing a metagame that  has existed for 20 years just to keep it in spl" a valid argument when there was literally nothing done about it since the changes
marco was the only guy who ever wanted to have conversation about it but it was never done
so get together adress the problems, think of possible solutions talk them through, idk make test tournaments

like the op's goal there seems to be 'make the game more popular' or like modern or whatever
and it's just like, friend, that is not possible
like making it more popular is possible ok but like
it's as if someone looked at classic tetris and was like 'there are lots of silly things about this. we should do something to make it more like modern tetris'
it's actually even closer to like
trying to ban stuff in mvc2
to make that game balanced
like 1) it wont even work to do that, and 2) it wont actually achieve the intended goal in the first place
if you want a 'balanced mvc2' you design a different game under a different name, that's all you can really do
