—personality description:
     ● Many people have threatened to hit him (and have carried through with their threats) due to his cocky, confident and overly flirty outward persona he puts on, but that definitely isn't all there is to Jiyoung. Sure, he loves to flirt with practically anything that breathes and won't hesitate to do so even if the person is quick to shoot him down or is clearly not interested, but that doesn't really mean anything to him. In reality, Jiyoung doesn't trust and let others in easily and dislikes the idea of being in a tied down, close and intimate relationship. Just the thought of it scares him, because he's never had that sort of relationship with anyone, not even his parents, and the idea of having to depend and open himself up to anyone frightens him beyond comparison.
       Adding on to the previous statement, Jiyoung has a hard time saying what he feels and what he means. He doesn't do it often, and would rather avoid any sort of emotional scene by bottling up what he's feeling in favor of being embarrassed by stating it. He's definitely not the type of person to open up first, and he doesn't give in easily when others try to get to know him; he'll be more withdrawn then ever when he realizes what you're trying to do, but the more time you spend around him the more the real Jiyoung will slip through. He has difficulty admitting things to himself, especially emotions that he doesn't want to feel, and he doesn't deal with it well when it slaps him in the face (literally or metaphorically). He's never been the best with words, either (go figure) and will either end up saying something completely stupid out of anger, panic, or something in between and immediately regret it. Of course, his asshole persona would never allow his ego to tamper down enough to apologize, but he'll probably mope around for weeks with a little scowl on his face and acting like a kicked puppy because he feels bad about it.
       That's another thing about Jiyoung - he's sensitive, believe it or not. He can be a bit /too/ emotional at times, even if he doesn't show it all that often, and often kicks himself the hardest out of anyone. He judges himself harshly and is quick to downplay his own achievements, even if on the outside he acts cocky, like he knew he was this great to begin with. It can be pretty tricky to figure out what he's actually thinking and feeling, but those who have been around him the longest know how to handle him (read: with care, and lots of hesitant hugs).
       Unexpectedly, Jiyoung is a big softie over anything small and delicate. From animals to human beings to even /plants/, he's quick to protect them in his own way; to him, that means hovering behind them like a guard dog and quickly jumping to their defense whenever it's needed (and sometimes when it isn't). Though he doesn't like to come off as such, he's the biggest dork ever when it comes to anything cute  - especially cats and babies - and can't help himself from getting excited, a huge grin crossing his face before he has a chance to contain it. His real age shines through when he's excited because he can't contain himself.

     ● Though he was described as having the perfect childhood, Jiyoung himself never felt that way. Sure it was cool, getting the newest model of whatever he wanted whenever he wanted it and not having strict rules that restricted him like his friends parents did - but maybe that's what he wanted. Growing up, he was never quite lonely; an overabundance of friends (most due to his money) always kept him occupied, but he always seemed to have a blank space where his parents were supposed to fill and never did. Going to school, he would see students with written notes on their lunches and tales of what they'd done with their mom or dad that weekend, but he could never quite relate to them and that caused him to feel separated from the rest of his peers.
       Despite the ways they spoiled him, both his mother and father never seemed to want anything to do with him, no matter what he tried. Keeping his grades up, getting on a sports team? Nothing ever seemed to impress them where he was concerned - to the two, he was as practical as wallpaper in the background.As he grew older, though, he found that using his looks to his advantage could at least partly fill whatever missing piece in him there seemed to be; constant flirting and hooking up definitely wasn't the parental love and nurturing that he needed, but he was passed the age of it being effective and the sexual replacement subbed in well enough for him. Along with his newfound personality, he continued to try and find something he was outstandingly good at to try and grasp for his parents attention (the small, childish part of him not giving up) and eventually came across the school's choir class among the many sports. Saying he fell in love with singing would be exaggerating a bit, but he came to realize that he was pretty good at it and with training from the choir teacher he only improved.
       Though nothing came of his surprising talent right away, he was insistent on improving himself to be so good that his parents didn't have a choice but to take notice of it; he quit his other past time(basketball) to focus all of his attention on his singing. Most days after school and for hours on weekends he would find himself down at subways, bus stops, or train stations with only his voice, ukelele, and the beating on the floor or whatever bench he occupied to keep him company. He got many compliments during his busing days, and far more complaints over his noise levels while others were just trying to go to work, but sooner than expected he got his ticket - a street scout for LOEN Entertainment just so happened to need to take a subway one weekend afternoon, and he was in (at least, for an audition).
       Excited, he thought this would be his chance to finally gain his parent's respect and affection, but it turned out to be the exact opposite. They thought being an idol was ridiculous; what was going to come out of it? A few years of singing and he was right back to where he started with no job and no college degree. Though he was completely hurt by their lack of encouragement in what he wanted to do, he decided to go through with the audition anyways just to prove them wrong, and here he is.

     ● On stage, Jiyoung's usual persona is cranked to about twenty times it's usual cockiness; extra random sexy moves, winks and lip bites thrown left and right like they're free handouts. Fancams of this guy usually get pretty popular considering their pretty much nugu group status, and his charisma on stage is kind of unbelievable if you know the real, deep down underneath softie Jiyoung can be.

     ● For his song, Jiyoung played a cover of "Young Volcanoes" by Fall Out Boy with his ukelele that he was pretty damn  proud of, considering it took him forever to learn and pronounce correctly.
     ● Considering he didn't know much about dance, Jiyoung decided to do something that didn't sound too hard - Pretty Boy by Taemin, which ended up being the worst decision of his life, but he committed and carried through with it. He didn't do too well, kind of just flopped around everywhere, but LOEN seemed to see something in him they could work with and stuck with him.
—why did you choose the company you're at?
     ● Technically, because the situation was vice versa (LOEN casted Jiyoung), he didn't have much reason to pick it. However, he did have his reasons for accepting the offer and going on to audition and become a trainee: he really did love music and singing and, deep down in a place that no one would probably ever have the chance of seeing, he still wanted his parents to be proud, or to even just notice him.
