- If you wish to eliminate CPE as a cause of a FTTC fault (such as slow speeds), you can try creating a direct
- connection between a customer's computer and the Openreach Active NTE.
- 1. Windows 7/Vista
- 2. Windows XP
- • Disconnect the 582n router from the Openreach Active NTE. Plug the PC/laptop directly into LAN port 1
- on the Active NTE
- • In control panel, select Network and Internet
- • Select Network and Sharing Center
- • Under Change Network Settings select Set up a new connection or network
- • Highlight Connect to the Internet and click Next
- • Select Broadband PPPoE
- • Enter the RADIUS username and password and click Connect
- • Click Close. If required, click on the network icon in the taskbar and chose to connect using the
- connection you have just setup
- Returning to original setup
- After the customer has performed the required diagnostics, you simply need to remove the
- connection. Return to the Network and Sharing Center in the control panel and click Change adapter
- settings.
- Highlight the connection that was setup and then click Delete this connection.
- Ensure the customer plugs the 582n back into the Active NTE (in LAN port 1) and connects their computer
- back to the router.
