South Korea Prioritizes Corona Virus Test Equipment Exports for Indonesia, Here's the Reason

South Korea (South Korea) made the United States, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia three priority destinations for export of medical products related to Corona, such as the Corona virus test kit (COVID-19).
An official in the State of Ginseng said that currently almost 120 countries are trying to get the product from South Korea.

Reported by local online media, Yonhap News Agency on Friday (3/27/2020), South Korean Foreign Ministry officials made the statement the day after the government held a meeting.
It was said that the meeting was attended by an interagency team formed to discuss the balance between domestic and export demands regarding medical products related to Corona, or the supply of medical goods that are humanitarian or exportable.

The official said that as many as 117 countries were trying to import COVID-19 test kits and goods
other items. Others open receipts of these items as humanitarian assistance, either through government channels or private sector routes.

"The country that we place as the most priority is the US, because there has been a surge of new infections there, and President Donald Trump has also made a request to ourselves.
While the US has not banned the entry of our citizens and reached a currency exchange agreement with South Korea, "said the official.

Regarding the reason to prioritize the UAE, the official explained to maintain cooperation in various sectors.
While the reason for making Indonesia a priority is because of South Korea's key partner for the New Southern Policy (NSP), which aims to improve relations with the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Based on the ongoing debate about the potential of sending out quarantine products to Kosel's own domestic needs,
the official reiterated the main principle of the South Korean government is that any decision on exports can be made only if there is a guarantee that exports will not cause domestic shortages.

"We formed a team, thinking that support must go towards promoting not only diplomatic interests,
but also practical economic interests, and maximizing our soft power as a developed country in terms of quarantine expertise, "he said.

Of the 117 countries that are looking for quarantine products from South Korea, 31 countries who want to import Corona virus-related products have contacted the Seoul government.
30 countries have requested the product as humanitarian assistance.

The official said 20 countries had hoped to import the products, as well as receive them as humanitarian assistance. 36 other countries have sought these items through civil sector cooperation.
