  1. [2018/09/07 13:27] Valentine (thelastreplicant) reached the location, presumably the prisoner was brought to them as he needed a bit of their hair to get started. "And you want this to be connected to Zane, correct. He can put his will and make the curse end if he wishes?" He asked as he pulled a ring from his finger, it was one of the larger ones that barely fit his thumb so it was no loss to him. The ring was a simple gold band with a nice jade in the center. He placed it on the ground and began pulling out ingredient after ingredient, reagent after reagent. All were in little glass bottles or wrapped up in brown paper and tied with a string. He unfolded one of the packages, a glass bottle of ink. "High Chief, this is for you. I saw that you will be empty after your next letter." He grinned sharply and handed the ink to the man. It was Iron Gull Ink, the best he could make on his own. After that he pulled a black candle from the bag and lit it. He smoothed out a place on the ground, stamping down the tall grass till it was flat, he then began to make the ritual pentagram made of dripping black wax. He moved his hand and candle over and over again until there was a clear pentacle with no breaks in the wax. ((RItual 3 1/6))

  3. [2018/09/07 13:41] Siddig nodded to Misaki. "I will try to remember the name. I'm not very good with names." Assuming Parker happened by he'd be pleased enough to give the man a friendly greeting. "Though what food do we have left here that Reina cannot provide to the Tear?" They arrived at the location. The Rockfang guard already there with the prisoner, letting him stand alone, presumably since he saw Misaki was with them so she might take over guard. Sid watched as Valentine prepared the area, all the bottles and things and the drawing the lines with the wax. When he was offered the bottle of ink, his eyes went wide a bit... "How..." Of course he quickly discerned the probably cause, the man being good with magic, had somehow... something. Because it was true, he'd considered getting more ink and soon, but of course he'd forgotten he needed it too, so this... "This will be useful. Thank you." He bowed his head as he took the bottle of ink in his hands. "Yes, connected to Zane and to me as well."

  5. [2018/09/07 13:45] Misaki shook her head. "I mean that he wants to buy food supplies from us for second restaurant he is opening. You know, like fresh meats and stuff." She noted that the prisoner had been brought out and now he was standing alone, so Misa strode over to him. She kept a reasonable distance since a curse was being cast on this guy, after all, but he was within arm and sword reach, in case he tried a stunt and she needed to put him in his place before somebody other than him got hurt. "You needing anything from prisoner?" She was familiar with the occult, after all, and the mages had taught her much about magic. He likely needed another reagent, hair, maybe blood.

  7. [2018/09/07 13:48] Byzeern Tym watched the ritual, hands clasped calmly in front of him and his voice kept low so as to not interupt the mage "Parker owns the bistro, they have open mic night which is fun, I sometimes do food deliveries for them...that =how we met High chief" the centaur had been on a delivery when he first met Siddig and Sylas in an alley and when he looked at Kith his gaze stopped being kind and friendly and simply became cold as he stared
  8.
  9. [2018/09/07 13:50] Kith (Duncan): stood there, shacked as best a one-handed man can be shackled. His binds likely including his feet as well. His time in captivity didn't include much int he way of hygiene, so he was smelling a bit on the ripe side. Up until present, his eyes had been closed, and he'd been standing quiet;ly... All in all, he was a rather wonderful prisoner-- no trouble at all! When valentine starts prepping and speaking of needing hair, those green eyes open, intense as always. The brutal gaze taking in each form before falling on Valentine. There's a sneer, but for now he speaks no words. Better to watch and listen.
  10.
  11. [2018/09/07 13:52] Valentine (thelastreplicant) pulled a book from the back, book with black leather binding. A cross and at the top of that cross was a snake with a hand for a face. At the center of that hand was an eye, and it would give off a sort of old world creepy vibe as he started thumbing through the pages, those that hazard to look may find that their vision starts to go blurry and dark until they turn away. He found the page he was looking for and laid it out on the grass next to him. His head bobbed back and forth for a moment and the he reached for a glass jar with five off-white bones. But heard Siddig mention that it was also him that needed to control the curse as well. "Another ring." He plucked it off his fingers and added it to the ring already on the ground beside him. He turned back to the bones in the jar and started to pull them out one buy one, those around him could clearly see it was five right thumb humanoid bones of varying sizes. They were each pushed into the wax at the corners of the pentagram before it completely dried. The bones all standing straight up on their own. With Misaki's words he nodded. "A lock of hair, about this long." He held up his fingers about six inches apart as he spoke to her. "No more than a few strands. Or blood? But I would rather not cut have to cut if I don't have to." He took in the sneer but did not react to it, often the cursee was not a pleasant mood, he knew this all too well from experience. ((Ritual 3 2/6))
  12.
  13. [2018/09/07 14:00] Siddig was still a bit in awe of the ink and with Misaki telling him that Parker wanted their food. He just sort of looked at her. "Oh. Well, that's fine. I'm pleased he considers our food edible." He chuckled a bit. Of course it was edible, damn fine food. But he just wasn't used to outsiders admitting it. He grinned to Byz's recollection of how they had met. But the memory quickly made him rather gloomy. Sad actually. But instead of reflecting sadness he just growled. Thus far, he hasn't even cast a glance at the prisoner. The entire time, he hasn't even spoken to the man or gone to see him. No contact whatsoever. And he's still not looking at him right now. Nope. Anywhere but at Kith. So while he's looking at the book and his vision goes blurry... he assumes straight away its something in his own blood. Until he looks away and his vision clears. Right. Magic. He watched as Valentine place another ring on the ground. And the bones. It was all very interesting, ritual magic, but at the same time, he had his own racial magics and nothing else. So this was familiar to him as old as he was, but it still left him much in the dark. He shifted his gaze to Misaki and then to Valentine at talk of the needed hair. Or blood. Still not looking at the prisoner.
  14.
  15. [2018/09/07 14:03] Misaki nodded, turning her attention to Kith. "No problem. I will get you hair." There came the bone claws, unsheathing from their hiding place in her knuckles. Thank you, fleshcrafting! She kept her gaze locked on Kith as she inspected his long hair, picking a spot and tugging the hair straight so it would be a clean cut. No, she was not gentle about it at all. Good thing this guy had long hair, it was no trouble cut a small amount of strands and hand them over to Valentine. "That is enough hair?" She probably cut off a little more than he wanted, but he could just toss the leftovers. It was better to have too much than have to little and have to snip again!
  16.
  17. [2018/09/07 14:07] Byzeern Tym made note of the rings and the bone's, it was all fascinating to him, his own magic was more naturaly and instinctual this was bending the forces to ones will and while he disaproved of such things he knew they were nessesary and interesting and then watched Misaki smirking slightly, a part wanted him to misbehave but he quickly squelched such feelings as he noted the high chiefs sadness and placed a hopefuly reassuring hand on his shoulder
  18.
  19. [2018/09/07 14:10] Kith (Duncan): The book got a look, oh yes, and as his vision dimmed, he could not help but wonder what spell was obscuring the words. Deciding to look away just before going blind, his attention once more moves about the figures around him. A leash, or a cage, what sort of ritual were they up to? None of them seemed overly pleased, so surely he wasn't to 'die' this day. Siddig wouldn't even look at him. There's a scoff over that. The hair being mentioned brought his attention back to the mage.... A leash, then... Snapping his eyes to Misaki as she speaks of getting the hair, he growls at her roughness "And what leash are you crafting for me, Siddig?" Bitter, yes, rude, no.... Shifting, those shackles jangling, perhaps adding more eeriness to the whole scenario playing our around them. And for a moment, his attention drifts elsewhere, as if someone else was joining them, but there is noone.
  20.
  21. [2018/09/07 14:13] Valentine (thelastreplicant) should have warned the others about his book, but they would figure it out soon enough. It had a ritual curse placed on it, so that whoever tries to read it's contents would start to loose their vision. It protected his grimoire from falling into the wrong hands, because his book was filled with magical knowledge that not just anyone could use or see. He found a sheet of paper in his bag, and written out on it was each of the reals that members of the Thorns were meant to follow while living in the depths. The rules that Kith, he assumed, failed to follow in the beginning or he wouldn't be in this place. He accepted the hair from Misaki looped in the two rings then tied the entire thing around the rolled up sheet of paper. He wrote in ink on the roll, a simple sigil and then placed the whole thing in the center of the pentagram. He took in a deep breath and then started to reach for more reagents, each one more different than the last. He looked up to Kith a moment, then to where he was looking. Spirits, did everyone down in the depths see them? He thought he was kind of special but, it seemed that everyone was a spiritualist. He groaned a little but went back to work. ((Ritual 3 3/6))
  22.
  23. [2018/09/07 14:24] Siddig didn't even look to Misaki as she cut loose Kith's hair. His eyes on anything Valentine was using except the protected book. He couldn't be upset over someone wishing to protect their own magical secrets. He couldn't see spirits, not at all. Though he wished he could. He just continued to keep his eyes on Valentine and what the mage was preparing to do. He would be able to feel any rise in magic that might be summoned, but for the most part he was only still and silent, waiting on this to be finished so that he could go on with the rest of his day. His general demeanor was one of tense watchfulness, just in case something went awry. Not with the magic so much as the prisoner. Inhaling gently the air as a breeze rustled against the trees near the small group. Watching for anyone who might have come to seek out the prisoner... stray celestials perhaps... other nefarious types. Perhaps some Bloodvipers.
  24.
  25. [2018/09/07 14:27] Misaki did note that Kith was watching a passing spirit, but unless he started begging them for aid, she could care less. Though the ritual was interesting, she was laser-focused on her job and making sure Kith wasn't going to pull anything. His words ringing out towards Siddig made her growl. "YOU can be addressing him by High Chief, or not at all. Show respect." She snorted, narrowing her eyes at him. "You do not have rights to be so casual."
  26.
  27. [2018/09/07 14:30] Byzeern Tym could most defanitly see the spirits tho he tended to ignore them when they didnt wish his attention, he also made no comment, nor attempt to read the book, his concern was watching the ritual as a whole, and after a moment waved a hand to call down a circling bird one which he would whisper to in natura a promis of food in return for a warning of anyone approaching, once done he would whisper to the high chief of the new sentries
  28.
  29. [2018/09/07 14:35] Kith (Duncan) The ghost wasn't interesting enough for Kith to remained focused beyond a cursory inspection, it was the fascinating ritual that kept the most of his focus. His own level of magics quite possibly having been the height of mastery--- back in the day. Sadly, when one gets old, they tend to forget the things they don't use enough... The reprimand catching him, snapping his attention back "Everyone assumes I've no respect of him... Title aside.... If any of you knew better, you'd see just down deep that respect goes. Pity you're all deaf and blind." there's a shrug that jangles the shackles once more. Whether any of the Bloodvipers were here or not, Kith had no idea. He'd spoken to no one sent messages to no one, hell-- he couldn't even direct magic at anyone. For all intents and purpose he was alone.
  30.
  31. [2018/09/07 14:38] Valentine (thelastreplicant) in the triangle of one of the star points he placed a chunk of unrefined ruby, in the next, a polished piece of star diopside. On the next he sprinkled a few drops of dill oil, the aroma fragrant as soon as it hit the grass. Frankincense was placed next, an even stranger scent filled the air for just a few moments before the breeze took it on it's way. In the last triangle, he took some storax resin and sprinkled it over the ground there. Now it was time for the fun part. As soon as that was done, magic started to fill the area around them, it became slightly harder to move freely. Everything seemed to slow down around them, the morning dew on the tips of the grass started to lift off from where they lie and hang in the air like shining stars all around them. He was careful with his magic, trying to be less showy than before down here in the depths, where it seemed that spirits got upset over the slightest use of magic. But a curse of this strength was bound to have some effect on the world around it as it was being cast, he could not help it. ((Ritual 3 4/6))
  32.
  33. [2018/09/07 14:41] Siddig shifted his gaze to Misaki as she spoke, apparently to Kith. He was pleased his quick use of sonomancy had worked to block out the prisoner's voice from reaching his ears. And since Misaki had covered the major points, he'd bow his head to her slightly and look back to what Valentine was doing, even as Byz would whisper to him about sentries. He nodded. Though he supposed he ought to explain to Kith what they were doing, but he still didn't look at him. "This curse will bind you to follow the rules of the Thorns. If you break any rule. At any time. You will move very slowly unable to escape the Rockfang should you be caught. But this matters not, since you will move slowly and be unable to use your magic at all until you speak with myself or Zane and we will release you from these effects." Again, he couldn't hear Kith's words, but the prisoner was right about one thing, he was quite deaf to him right now. His eyes still on Valentine and what the mage was doing. Observing each reagent and action and once that magic really stirred, he definitely felt it. A slow intake of breath as he felt the air slowing down. The rush of sound and its slowing most apparent to him. And the dew on the grass rising into the air, that was of interest to him. And he was watching it carefully.
  34.
  35. [2018/09/07 14:44] Misaki raised her eyebrow incredulously. "...You are either crazy, or stupid, seeing as you still want to throw insults while you are being punished. If you had respect for Siddig, we would not be here putting magic leash on you like a dog, and you would still have your hand." That dominant hand was just...itching to slap him, the fingers twitching. "...Chief, I can smack this fool upside head for disrespect?" Sadly, without the chief's permission or without proper instigation, she couldn't touch him. She could feel the effects of the ritual spell in the air, but she was working. Laser focus! Siddig's explanation of the curse, well...that had her smirking. "See? Now you will actually be dog on leash." This punishment was probably even worse than some sort of beating, or even death. He'd be at the mercy of the Thorns and their rules.
  36.
  37. [2018/09/07 14:49] Byzeern Tym would listen as the curse is explained, a few birds flying down to the centaur and chirping quietly till he gives them a small treat from the pouch that was currently his only clothing, and when Kith speaks the centaur looks at him, his face devoid of emotion or compassion, personally he had felt the kindest thing to do would have been to simply destroy the subject of the curse, but he was never asked for his opinion and he as always felt those above had information he lacked so he followed their rulings like a dutiful membner of the Thorns, leaning in he again whispers to the High Chief
  38.
  39. [2018/09/07 14:53] Kith (Duncan): had turned back to the ritual, but then to Siddig as he spoke... Bind him to the rules...... slow him down.... he could work with these constraints. However, there is a sigh that comes "There was no insult. But how could I expect you to think any differently when you mind is already made up as to my motives. The hand was taken for a crime I had nothing to do with. You are deaf... deaf to my words of motive.... blind to me being anything other than what you think of me. These are truths, whether you agree or not. You don't have to like my words." He does bristle when she asks to strike him "Strike me, bind me, you will not be the changing point of who and what I am. Your actions will only spark reactions. If you want me to change, then I suggest you find a better way to give me intensives to." Turning his eyes back to the magic being cast, specifically the floating dew--- a few fingers reaching out to touch at a droplet should he be able to.
  40.
  41. [2018/09/07 14:55] Valentine (thelastreplicant) stood up, his hands outstretched over the pentacle on the ground. He begins to speak in another language and as soon as he does, his eyes start to cloud over, the whites beginning to fill in his pupils and iris till there is nothing but white left. The words he spoke were Greek, though an ancient form of it, if anyone spoke the language, they'd know exactly what he was saying. "Akolouthíste tous kanónes, kánete ton chróno sas, an apotýchete, argá tha eíste." He said the words again, and once more after that. Reciting the incantation three times altogether. Suddenly, a virulent smoke started to spawn from the center of the pentagram. It was a brilliant shade of green. It started to lurch towards Kith, as if it was crawling rather than gliding along the surface. It bubbled and toiled across the gross, one could see figures moving in inside, shadows of faces there and then gone the next. Finally it reached Kith, and climbed up his legs and found it's way into his mouth. It was hard to watch, and even harder to endure. Though, Kith would feel nothing. However, having a smoky cloud of green gas climb into ones throat is a little off putting at the very least. ((Ritual 3 5/6))
  42.
  43. [2018/09/07 15:00] Siddig smirked at Misaki's words to Kith. Picking up the context of their conversation a bit more fully now. "Ah, smacking him will not make him respect us. Nothing will. But if you see him hurt any Thorn from now on, kill him." His voice was low but others could probably hear his words. He would let Misaki speak all she wished now. But he wouldn't have Kith out and about spreading more lies about what had happened and have Misaki's hand fuel the lies. He listened to Byz's further whispering and he shrugged his shoulders. "Perhaps." He'd need to visit the Swiftpaw for options later on anyways. His eyes remained upon Valentine as the mage continued his ministrations of magic, first the physical change upon his person and then the green smoke rising from the ritual area. And his eyes followed along the ground as it crept towards the prisoner and would inflict the curse upon him. It was quite nice to witness. The shift in the air from the moisture and the smoke allowed him to hear Kith's voice and he finally snapped at him. "Enough! Shut your mouth! You are being disrespectful to our guest. Silence yourself or I will have Misaki knock you out." He growled at Kith, leering at the prisoner who had caused him so much trouble with his own people. He might have caught a glimpse of those shadowy faces and then the green smoke would silence Kith perhaps as it snaked its way into his mouth.
  44.
  45. [2018/09/07 15:03] Misaki rolled her eyes, her hands planted on her hips. "If you think that was not insult, you are stupid one. And yes, mind is made up about you. You steal, you try to kill people? Yes...you are scumbag. And you say you are innocent? HAH! Then why are we here, hmmm? Why are you being punished? Take lot of effort to be doing this for someone who is innocent. Not only are you thief and assassin with no honor, you are coward, cannot even grow balls to admit that you were wrong. You are scumbag, and forever will be. If this punishment do not change you, there is no helping you. Was thinking punch to head would knock sense into brain." Thankfully, Siddig chimed in, and the Yokai playfully cracked her knuckles. "Oh, goody. You keep talking, I get permission to shut you up. You hurt a Thorn again? You can bet your scrawny ass that I will kill you without regret."
  46.
  47. [2018/09/07 15:09] Byzeern Tym would pull the harmony crystal from around his neck at the High Chiefs anger and gently rubs his back "Calm yourself High Chief, its words are meant to enrage you you musnt allow him the satisfaction" the centaurs voice calm and hopefuly soothing as he speaks "Let Misaki and the Rockfang deal with the pest, once the ritual is done he will no longer be more then a minor nuisance, like a flea to be plucked away once grown tired of" the centaur smiling as the ritual seemed to near its completion, he personaly avoids looking at the smoke as it seems creepy and dark, any damage to the land of course would be delt with by the swiftpaw, tended to and healed
  48.
  49. [2018/09/07 15:11] Kith (Duncan) would have continue to argue, but there was magic being aimed at him, and smoke, and green gasses.... He sneeeeeeers and bristles. Waiting for what he might assume would be agony of some sort... But there is none. Odd. He watches the gas climb up his skirtings and across his chest, up his shoulder, where was it going?! He leaned back a little, as if he expected it not to slither into his mouth and likely nose. Physically, he felt nothing, mentally, he was a bit.... put off. Would it only effect the body? Or would the wraith too feel it? He had to wonder. Taking a DEEEEEP breath of the stuff.... They could have their little victory.... And if Byz thought a flea was of no consequence, perhaps Kith could school him on where the Plague comes from. And for all the gas filling his lungs and overcoming him with magic, there's a rather wicked grin on his face--- even if he's going BONKERS inside that host of his!
  50.
  51. [2018/09/07 15:18] Valentine (thelastreplicant) as the smoke billowed up and made it's way into Kith's mouth, the reagents left in place around the pentagram started to fade, turn ashy even as if all the life had been sucked out of them. Well, in truth that is exactly what happened to those objects. Magical life of the bones, stones, herbs and oil, even the hair and roll of paper turned to ash and started to dissipate as a stiff wind blew it all away into nothing. There was no damage done to the land, even the wax burned up into ash and things were normal. The only thing left were two rings. He reached down to pick them up and then turned on his knee to Siddig, until he realized the position he was in and what he was offering the man. His eyes went wide, and a light red blush formed over his features. He quickly stood up and chuckled. "Oh, right, sorry about that, here is the way of controlling the curse. Simply think and the curse's effects will be lifted, but you must be wearing the ring to do so." That was the only caveat. He had no idea who Kith was, or what his crimes were, he was simply a middle man, a man of considering knowledge of rituals, asked to perform a task. The quarrel between the prisoner and Misaka made him shake his head. Kith would feel nothing form the curse, maybe a slight tingle, it would only be enacted if he acted against the rules of the Thorns. Then he'd slow down and his magic would cease to work. "There, I am completed what you have asked me to do. I thank you once again for a chance to redeem myself. If all is forgiven, I will take my leave and I promise you will not see me down here unless asked." (Ritual 3 6/6)
