  1. ##Basics
  2. 1. What time zone are you in? More importantly, what hours of the day are you awake? And of those hours, what hours are you commonly on reddit? In UTC please.
  3.
  4. My time zone is UTC-6 (I live in Missouri, USA. I am awake from 10am-1am most days, and since i do not currently have a job i am on reddit, or am able to be, nearly all day but once i get a job it will be mostly mornings and afternoon.
  5.
  6. 2. What moderation experience do you have? Please list the subs/forums you currently mod, subs/forums you’ve moderated in the past and explain what your moderation duties consist(ed) of. What issues have you faced as a mod? Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you consider vital for moderation?
  7.
  8. I don't currently moderate anything, but I used to be part of the /r/worldbuilding mod team about a year ago but I left due to personal reasons.
  9.
  10. I mostly dealt with removing off-topic posts, removing comments that broke rules, sometimes dealt with problem users on the discord channel (gave warnings, let people know if they were breaking the rules, etc) I also used to do the weekly contest stuff a while back before school took over my time and I had to stop.
  11.
  12. 3. Do you have any other experience that you feel would be relevant to moderating a subreddit? If so, what is that experience?
  13.
  14. I held a job in retail for about last year, so i've had to occasionally interact with rude people.
  15.
  16. 4. What are your thoughts on bots? Do you like and use automoderator and other moderation bots? Do you dislike automated moderation?
  17.
  18. I like bots. I feel they help speed up the moderation process. Automod can help find and point out where a rule was broken, but its also not infallable
  19.
  20. 5. What is your set-up like? Do you do much of your modding from a phone? Do you use toolbox and RES? If you don't use toolbox, would you willing to start using it?
  21.
  22. I use browse reddit mostly on my phone, but when I was a mod I would hop onto my computer to check the modqueue and such. I have both the toolbox and RES
  23.
  24.
  25. 7. Are you active on the /r/worldbuilding IRC or Discord Servers? If so, what is your username?
  26.
  27. Yes! I frequently use both the Discord and IRC, though lately i've been mostly on the discord. My username for both reddit, discord, and irc is reevet
  28. ##Communication
  29.
  30. 1. How do you handle being criticized or corrected by regular users?
  31. To be honest, i haven't been in much drama like that where there would be a reason for someone to criticize or correct , but if it were to happen, I suppose my response would depend on where this was voiced. If they criticized or corrected me on the discord or irc, I would try to remind them that if they have an issue for the moderation then they should perhaps voice it in the modmail, and that backseat modding isnt really appreciated
  32.
  33. 2. What is your approach to handling disagreements within the moderation team?
  34.
  35. Unfortunately I *have* had disagreements within the moderation team that I think i didn't handle as well as I could have, but in general I try to be calm and let people know exactly what I think (if its, say, a disagreement about a rule change or something).
  36.
  37. If its a personal issue, I try not to make it public and try to work things out in private messages.
  38.
  39. In general I like to carefully look at both sides of the issue and try to make things work out well for everyone. (if its a small issue, I usually don't mind just making a compromise)
  40. 3. How good are you at handling conflict? How do you usually argue or disagree with others?
  41.
  42. Granted im not a master at it, I would say im decent at handling conflict. When I argue/disagree with someone, I first try to make sure if its even worth arguing over, or if my argument for/against something even makes sense.
  43.
  44. I would say i'm pretty good at realizing when I am in the wrong, and if i happen to be, I would let the other side know and apologize.
  45.
  46. 4. Under what circumstances do you believe it is important for a moderator to act alone? Under what circumstances would you seek second opinions or direction from senior moderators?
  47.
  48. Personally, I think the team should always be aware of a decision made by another member of the team, but if its something like removing a post/comment that is clearly breaking the rules then its alright. If its something like kicking/banning a user, or if its a conflict im not entirely sure how it should be dealt with, I would always consult a senior moderator
  49.
  50. 5. Have you used Discord? If no, would you be comfortable using it to communicate with the Mod Team?
  51. I use discord nearly every day
  52.
  53. ##Our rules and enforcement
  54.
  55. 1. What role do you think moderators should take in the community and in creating and enforcing rules?
  56. I think a moderators main role in the community is to help aid the generation of content and communication between people within the community. Its their job to create rules that make /r/worldbuilding a safe and fun place to share worldbuilding content. I feel the rules should be there to make the community engaging and keep problem users from ruining the experience for others.
  57.
  58. 2. What do you think of our current rules? What do you like? What do you dislike? What rules do you think are especially important?
  59.
  60. Personally I do not see a problem with how the rules currently are. I would say the most important rule would be "1. Be kind to others and respect the community's purpose.". If users found /r/worldbuilding to be a cold disrespectful community, then really what is the point of having a /r/worldbuilding?
  61.
  62. 3. What are your views on our current context policies?
  63.
  64. Without the emphasis on posts requiring context, I could just post a picture of zippers because technically a world could have zippers in it. Context is important.
  65.
  66. 4. What are your views on our plagiarism and citation policies?
  67.
  68. plagiarism is a huge no-no. It isn't alright in school, it isn't alright in college/university, it isn't alright in a workplace, so I see no reason why it should be okay in /r/worldbuilding or any community. Clear plagiarism should not be tolerated and users should be expected to always provide a cititation if they can.
  69.
  70. 5. How comfortable do you feel leaving warnings as opposed to bans for bad behavior?
  71.
  72. I believe in second chances. If a user has a clean record or has a history of being helpful and involved in the community, I would give a warning if they exhibited bad behavior. If it became a repeating thing however, I dont see an issue with banning them if they are ruining the experience for other users.
  73.
  74. 6. How comfortable are you engaging with the community without the use of moderator tools? For example, do you believe you would be proficient at explaining and promoting our standards of civility without having to resort to bans or formal warnings?
  75.
  76. If anything, I would prefer to resolve conflict without having to resort to moderator tools. Using moderator action (kicks/ban/warnings/etc) in every instance can make the team appear cold and controlling, and can deter new users from the community. Yes I believe I can make our policies known and set a good example
  77.
  78. 7. What are your feelings on enforcing removals, warnings, and/or bans for insults, slurs, and other uncivil behavior (such as rudeness or non-constructive criticism)?
  79.
  80. rudeness and nonconstructive criticism shouldn't be tolerated as it just makes the community appear intimidating to new people, and it can create a toxic environment pretty fast. Insults/slurs/uncivil behavior should be removed and have the user reminded of our rules. If they repeat such behavior, I dont see a problem with banning them.
  81.
  82. ##How do you envision the /r/Worldbuilding Network
  83.
  84. 1. What do you think of our current sub layout? What (if anything) do you like? What (if anything) would you want to change?
  85.
  86. The sub layout is fine as is. Its easy to navigate and it doesnt feel cluttered.
  87.
  88. 2. What would you like to see more of on the subreddit? On IRC or Discord?
  89. I would like to see more stuff like the WB Contests. It helps generate conversation and ideas on the sub.
  90.
  91. I would also like to see the IRC advertisted a bit more often. Lately its been feeling rather dead
  92.
  93. 3. What would you like to see less of on the subreddit? On IRC or Discord?
  94.
  95. Theres nothing I can think of right now that I would like to see less of.
  96.
  97. 4. Is there anything you currently don't see in the network, the IRC, or the Discord that you'd like to see?
  98.
  99. it might be interesting to do something similar to the Discords Spotlights, but on the subreddit. ( we invite someone to make a big post about their world and people on the sub can ask questions/provide feedback.)
  100.
  101. I feel it could give the chance for people to create more in-depth conversation as they have time to prepare their questions/feedback
  102.
  103. 5. What do you think /r/Worldbuilding’s stance on Reddit’s administration, future, and wider community should be? What kinds of relationships should we cultivate with the site as a whole, and how should we respond to Reddit-wide drama or controversy?
  104.
  105. We should always adhere to Reddits main rules. We should be a community that sets an example for how other communities should be. We should be inviting to new users from other communities.
  106.
  107. I feel reddit-wide drama and controversy has no place in the community (especially politics), as we are here to create fantasies and try to forget about the outside world :P (also it causes drama and division within the community).
