  1. Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland
  2. All Endings Routing
  3. [Updated 21 Mar 2018]
  4.
  5. ENDING ORDER CONSTRAINTS
  6. - High variance endings first
  7. - Endings requiring money later
  8. - Eliminate crops if possible
  9. - Obtain horse as early as possible
  10. - Obtain loved gifts in advance if possible
  11.
  12. SIMPLE ENDINGS
  13. These endings are very straightforward in their requirements. The player must only befriend one character to a high degree, and no money is necessary.
  14. - Horse Race
  15. - Azure Swallowtail
  16. - Endangered Weasel
  17. - Bluebird
  18.
  19. MONEY ENDINGS
  20. These endings require the purchase of some special item or animals to complete, in addition to affection requirements.
  21. - Cake Contest (4350-4800G)
  22. - Goddess Dress (3000G)
  23. - Fishy Story (4500G)
  24.
  25. TREASURE HUNT
  26. These endings require minimal purchases, but are very significant in their affection requirements. Treasure Hunt I also requires the player to have a dog with 3 hearts. Each requires the player to plant a variety of crops in one of a few set plot patterns. Considering the maximum number of each crop that would be required by any of the patterns, these endings require 960G each to be fully prepared, thus 1920G total.
  27.
  28. Cake Contest > Horse Race > Fishy Story > Goddess Dress > Azure Swallowtail > Bluebird > Endangered Weasel > TH2 > TH1
  29.
  30. ROUTING NOTES
  31. - Money requirements are met after ~29-30 part-time work. Cake Contest segment does 14 so far. For each Milk L+Egg that isn't golden, you save ~1 part-time work, and Horse Race will require probably 14 gifts to Bob, so you could do the remaining part-time work there.
  32. - Can't necessarily avoid all rain, so determine a reasonable amount of fodder to stash and steal it from Bob during early-game part-time work.
  33. - Test whether the horse has to be inside or outside for the race challenge.
  34. - Do the horse heart cutscenes play once Bob reaches 30AP even in a later year?
  35. - When's the best time to get Cranberries for Gwen?
  36. - Number of loved gifts required where applicable:
  37. > Gwen: 18 (if weed intro; vs. 21 in any%)
  38. > Lyla: 9 (if intro+gift, and one additional talk; vs. 10 in any%)
  39. > Gina: 16 (if weed intro+3 normal gifts; vs. 22 in any%)
  40. > Dia: 12 (if 4 normal gifts and at least one conversation outside the Villa; 11 if all convos outside Villa)
  41. > Sprites: 6 (vs. 6 in any%--almost certainly not worth it)
  42. - Figure out how much time is lost on putting the horse inside/taking him back out for each rainy day.
  43. - Loved gifts for Gwen/Lyla/Gina/Dia seem to save very little time individually, but are probably worth since you can gather them during dead time:
  44. > Cranberries: At the Goddess Pond during Summer (Villa too?) when you would grab PMC. Also during Fall when you are waiting for Silver Fish.
  45. > Pink-Cat-Mint Flower: At Lake during Summer at the end of Cake Contest, and during Fishy Story or Goddess Dress if necessary. Need only to work into the pathing.
  46. > Fish L: Already require 6 for Fishy Story. The remaining 10 can be caught while waiting for the Silver Fish and during each of two times you wait for Gwen at the Goddess Pond until 7pm.
  47. > Blueberries: Any ending during Spring/Summer.
  48. > For the treasure hunts, loved items for Gwen/Lyla/Gina are likely negligible, saving maybe one gift each. Of course Blueberries for TH2 would save more.
  49. > Dia's timesave is hard to calculate since in any%, you usually have SOME blueberries, but not enough to use exclusively.
  50.
  51. GENERAL ROUTING IDEAS
  52. - Start with Cake contest and use milk and eggs to obtain the necessary money for Goddess Dress and Fishy Story. Can also profit by selling cow and chicken, rather than letting them die.
  53. - Obtain the horse during the Cake Contest portion. The part-time work/milk money can cover most of the cow/chicken/milker cost.
  54. - Do the horse race as the second ending so that if you get rain in later endings, it's not paramount to heal your horse unless it would die (check if finishing an ending resets the animal's health)
  55. - Could you obtain the Silver Fishing Rod then complete the ending later? Could use the fish for money. Alternatively, just obtain
  56. - Either save TH1 for the very last, or let your dog die near the end of the ending if possible.
  57. - Find ways to use the time during which you would be waiting for late-night cutscenes, like the full moon cutscenes in Fishy Story and Goddess Dress, and the meetings with Gwen in Endangered Weasel.
  58. > Catch extra Fish L for Gina, as she gets +6 when her AP > 30.
  59. - Avoid rainy seasons by manipulating cutscenes. Yolo not really feasible for such a long run.
  60. - Aim for rainy season to plant for Azure Swallowtail and the Treasure Hunt endings, so prepare fodder for that.
  61. - Could do a TH ending earlier in the run and use the crops for money, but unlikely.
  62. - Consider doing just part-time work instead of crops to make the money. Relevant calculations:
  63. - Total money needed: 14220G
  64. - 8 part-time jobs required for horse (= 3060G, if selling 8 Milk S too)
  65. - 52s per part-time work (not counting the time spent talking to Bob)
  66. - Can recoup the money for the cow plus another 500G, and profit 250G or just recoup 300G on the chicken, depending if you buy it directly or hatch it
  67. - If hatching the chicken, it's only necessary to do a little more than 20 additional part-time work days (on top of the 8 for the horse), provided you sell the milk. This could be offset even more by milk from your own cow that you get while trying for gold milk (1 Milk L saves almost a whole day of part-time work + Milk S).
  68. - Skips: Tilling, selling to afford seeds, buying seeds, planting, watering, filling w. can, harvesting, and selling crops.
  69. - Transit time to Bob's might be negligible since you have the horse.
  70. - Can easily obtain all the fodder you would need from Bob's barn.
  71. - Makes early game a lot more consistent, no need to reset over rain and horse obtain/heart cutscenes could be used strategically avoid rainy season for the cow and chicken.
  72. - Depending how much Milk L you end up with, you could consider buying loved gifts from Ronald for later endings, including Honey for Bob, Cheese for Katie, and Cheese/Sandwich for Joe.
  73. - You don't need to sell the Milk right away, since you only need the cow/chicken/milker money in the short term, and you will be going to the Villa for the Moondrop Dew Book cutscene later in the Cake Contest ending.
  74. - Consider saving Eggs as gifts for Tim in TH1.
  75. - Consider digging for minerals to give to Louis during down time (possibly before part-time work in the early game, made easier by the fact that riding the horse to Bob's is really fast).
  76.
  77. PART-TIME WORK NOTES
  78. - This assumes:
  79. > You work for 2 hours, brush all 6 animals, and milk the cow (with Milk S sold this = 370G)
  80. > You work ~9-5 on Moondrop Dew day, earning 670
  81. > You buy an egg to incubate rather than a chicken
  82. > You sell the Cow+Chicken for 2800G
  83. - 7 for Cow+Chicken
  84. - 12 for Cow+Chicken+Milker
  85. - 16 for S.F. Rod (assuming sold Cow+Chicken)
  86. - 24 for Silk Thread
  87. - 26 for TH2 seeds
  88. - 29 for TH1 seeds
  89. - In general, for every 5 Milk L or less, can save that many PTW minus 1. I.e., if 5 Milk L, can save 4 PTW.
  90. - For every 5-10 Milk L, can save that many PTW minus 2.
  91. - If somehow short on money for TH1 seeds, just harvest TH1 crops and sell.

  145. > Gina: 5 (V/H/F)

  160. > Louis: 4 (V/H; no weed)
  161. > Martha: 4 (V/H)
  162.
  163. "STANDARD" GIFT FORAGE COUNT: ~150-160 (Very Berries, Med Herbs, and Moondrops)
  164. - Give most chars VBs and prefer Med Herbs where applicable, saving Herbs for Kurt (Fishy Story) and Parsley (TH)
  165. - Give Moondrops to certain female chars (Katie, Gina, Martha). Give to Kurt from the patch directly next to him.
  166.
  167. SPECIAL FORAGE COUNT
  168. - Blueberry: 12
  169. - Cranberry: 26 (preferably at least 18)
  170. - Pink-Cat-Mint Flower: 17 (preferably at least 13)

  172. - Egg: 17
  173. - Mineral: 15-16 (15 if 5 Wed/Sat interactions)
  174. - Herb: 20
  175. ** Loved gifts may really not matter for TH (except Dia and Tim) because an extra gift or two to Gwen/Lyla/Gina won't be wasted if you are still gifting Tim/Dia.
  176. ** Eggs are not a priority, but can use as many as you happen to get from your chicken.
