Left Behind in Leafy Fields

Yuii snuffled against Ming’s shoulder, her little face hidden against the fabric fold’s of Ming’s jacket. Despite the heat, despite the insects, and despite the long travel ahead Ming had put on her coat, not to keep herself warm but to pad Yuii who lay slung against her back. A harness had been put together with a few strips of cloth and an old shirt too, it was an old travel method.

“Yuii, use the square clothe and wipe your nose,” Ming scolded gently, her voice soft and sympathetic. She felt a shift of the little body on her back and a cloth laid across her shoulder. Another sad sniffle and a tuft of blue hair came into Ming’s peripheral vision. Sometime after Tatsuya’s visit, Yuii had began to sniffle and cough in her sleep.

Imagine Ming’s disgust when she had found herself left behind that morning. After inquiring with the lady at the desk, the young retiree had found that two men baring Renzo and his guard’s description had left earlier that day. The hot springs clerk had been, if disgruntled, kind when she had noticed Yuii on her shoulder already fighting chills. A little money and a quick explanation had gotten Ming out of and trouble they might have had to deal with. Her quite relaying of Joji’s capture and admittance of her own inability to help made the parting from Leaf’s hot spring bitter.

She had left Joji at the gates to a terrible fate then only last night been giddy as a school girl to find Renzo alive. The very Renzo whom was left her behind this morning. The very man she had thought so well of, had trusted to wait for her. Well in the end she had trusted, that was why she and Yuii had waited inside instead of out in the rain. Now Yuii was sick anyways and they had gone. Such a trustworthy guard too, he was slimy like his master.

“Yuii, you just cannot trust men. Their honour is a false pretense and they’ll abandon it and you when it suits them,” Ming said clearly as they walked while she reached over to place her cooled hand on her sister’s face. Ming fully felt every word of it, her fears ignited a hate in her soul that  had existed for over ten years. It ripped open even long healed wounds caused by too many of the opposite sexy, leaving her heart raw. “You’ll understand when you are older, I promise. Renren isn‘t that great and his dragon is a cheat.”

Yuii groans and coughed and Ming could only hope the medicine she had mixed together would work soon. Yuii was not so far gone that she could not be moved but soon that line would be crossed. Yuii didn’t deserve this, not one bit.

But damn her soft heart and a bit of caged hope. That was all she needed to guide her feet to the gates instead of meeting with Kiyo that morning. They would go only because Ming had said she would. She would show those swine in Men’s clothes what honour meant. She would keep all her promises, even the little ones she had whispered to herself last night in a fit of foolishness and then it would be done. Then she could return to Kumo, her soul cut free of those louts. She needed to finish just this last thing and she could have her life back, she was certain of it.

Yuii coughed again and shivered so Ming pulled her fingers away. Oh please, oh please let the medicine work soon she prayed to whatever god would listen while her feet took them to the gate out. It would be a good amount of time before she reached the sea to get them both h- to Kirigakure. “Don’t worry darling, you’ll be alright. Sleep.”

It was just another day working at the gates, patrolling them to make sure that the village was safe and protected. Luckily, it had been safe for quite a long time now, which made him happy. A protect Leaf was a safe Leaf and a safe Leaf was a peaceful Leaf right? Peace and unity was what the Hokage wanted in the short and long run. Though it required lots of hard work to make sure that the everything was running right.

As he stood on the gates to watch in both directions, just in case anyone appaeared in either direction. He noticed that a figure was approaching from the village towards the gates. He would intercept them when they moved closer.

As they did he jumped down to see it was Ming Yue and the little child, who was in her arms. They seemed to be leaving the village without Kiyo, which confused him a little bit. Maybe he would pay Kiyo a visit soon.

"Heading off are you? I hope you've had a good stay in Konoha," he said, bowing to the woman before looking at the child who was coughing and suffering with something.

"Is she ok? If Konoha can help her before you leave I can go get help. All I have right now is a flask of water," he said, taking out a small flask and bringing towards the two. "Please, just to make sure that she stays hydrated on your travels." He would have given her more, if they were able to be patient for another hour or so. If not, he would just let them leave now.

Hinote walked over to the gates, hoping that he would be able to leave the village and head somewhere else.  He didn't really have much to do here anymore, he didn't have time to see the hospital since there were some issues that had come up.  He wasn't sure what of but it was rumors and rumors would be that.  He saw that a woman was at the gates already and there was a man there, presumably an ANBU, to let her go.  He wondered if he'd be able to catch a ride out since he needed to get going fast.

He walked up to the two and bowed to the man and smiled.  "Santaru Hinote, I would like to take my leave now.  Your village is most beautiful I might add, I wish to come back again one day if that is okay?  I have much to share with your medical staff in the future, I have a feeling I will develop the ultimate healing technique something I am very proud of, chakra combustion at it's finest.   Not even Karubin-sensei will be able to master it."  The former Chief began to ramble about medical topics that dealt with herbal potions that gave the drinker enhanced chakra potential.  Realizing that he was rambling about things he thought they wouldn't understand, he stopped and smiled, embarrassed.  He had a lot to work on and needed to go to Sand, he had unfinished plans to settle.

"Can't say I did," Ming answered evenly, her green eyes like glacier water. Oh how she wsihed she dare attack him, her body little hands could ring his life out quietly and she would feel some revenge for Joji would have been extracted. Hadn't it been near here? The setting would be fitting.

And she certainly did not want to like him for showing some concern over Yuii. Men were all so alike, they lied and betrayed then put on a mask of kindness when it suited them. Ninja were the worst too, deceitful pigs. How women of their trade ever withstood their company to procreate was beyond her.

Give a Haku water and she will make for you an icy death. Ming's eye's flashed dangerously when he handed her the bottle of water. Her finger's twitched around it and from withing the cap was released from the top. Another slight twitch and the water poured out from it's confines. It hesitated in the air like a fightened animal then began to twist and turn until what was created were two identical hair pins of ice.

"Konoha will never be of any help to us," Ming replied haughtily, layers of rage, hate, disgust and hurt laced together with her thick islander's accent. Yuii coughed again and Ming replaced her cooling hand to her clammy little forehead which the other tanned arm flipped hair from her face, "I stared up at these gates with a man I loved; prison walls and now you hold his captive for nothing. I hope you're all real proud of yourselves."

They were words prevoked by anger and had this been any other morning Ming would have bit her cheek and walked on. She shifted Yuii on her back ever so slightly and on second thought one of the water pins became a flat cloth which gently pressed against Yuii's forehead for seconds at a time.

And from behind them another man approached looking to leave and Ming found that a perfectly good opportunity to cut their 'conversation' short. Her lip still curled in a sneer over the entire thing; and Ming was known for her placid face.

As for the man leaving, he left her curious because she recognized the slight accent of lightning country and his words were far too sweet. Her babbled like a mednin and as he should; that was likely his profession from his words. What really peaked her interest was talk of potions; her specialty.

And before she could remember to keep her silence, Ming spoke up. Damn him for finding her pass time. "There is a plant in Kirigakure's forest,"Ming said quietly, her eyes trained directly on her feet, "It enhances the bodies chakra output, as if dealing with a poison and yet that chakra does nothing and becomes a type of raw energy to be molded. It only grows near the spider layers..." She snapped her teeth shut and turned away, she would head towards the ocean now.

"Have a nice life, Hokage."

o.O  Hinote stood there with a weird look on his face, he didn't know that the man before them was the Hokage.  Feeling foolish the man straighted up and bowed again to him and the woman leaving. "I'm sorry Hokage-kun.  I would like to talk but I must leave, thank you again for you village's hospitality towards me."  He bowed again towards the man and fixed his silver hair so that it didn't cover his face.  He smiled and then walked away towards his home.
