Luna received a sending from Kaliero. It read as follows.

Luna! It is providential you are safe. I lost track of you and your party for a while. I have received a messenger wishing to speak with you. They are from house Vatatzes, and the messenger claims the noblewoman they serve is claiming you as hers, and demanding you return to her in Izzero. I politely dismissed them, but you should watch out! These Yoggite nobles are nothing if not persistent.

After some thought, the party recalled information about house Vatatzes.

The Vatatzes are a foreign noble house of Izzero, in Ishkhar-Yog.
Adriana Vatatzes is the house head, many say Jucika Philamnos, the brood mother, is 'really' in charge.

The party continued on to the Viszudar. There, they met Kaliero.

There, they learned the following.

The Despoilers of Gisarlarinzee often imploy Iaril. Kaliero does not know if they sent the Iaril, who was trapped. Kalerio suspects multiple organizations may intend to gather the relics of the archons.

Kaliero worries the Vatatzes will send mercenaries to collect Luna, if they sent a messenger to him to demand her. He thought it prudent to warn the archons.

They learned the identities of the former holders of the relics of the Archons. Disturbingly, they discovered the former owner of Tzara's amulet was known as a 'traitor', and her name was wiped from the Chronicle.

In his Chronicle, Galthan wrote about Mortwin forgivingly. Ílíshlu was respected, but not liked by Galthan. He described her as cold, aloof, and a powerful sorceress.

The party priced ships, and even the most basic ship capable of surviving the antarctic waters of the Land of Haunted Ice was far outside of their price range, even with Kaliero's assistance.

Additionally, they discussed their next moves. Kaliero briefed them on some of the dangers of the land of haunted ice, such as undead and Fortisskari elves. Additionally, he mentioned the circlet could be anywhere - even in the forbidden southlands. Necromantic frost giants are said to be imprisoned there, jailed by the fortisskari elves.

Mira may be a reincarnation of Ílíshlu, the frost witch. It is unclear how Ílíshlu escaped the elven samsaric hell.

So, in pursuit of these goals, they decided to ask their house heads for monetary assistance, in varying degrees of directness.

Each of them negotiated for a suitable amount of gold. This was more than enough to purchase the wheel-boat they desired.

Their cover story was they are ambassadors are responding to house Vatatzes's messenger, and heading to Izzero.

Mira's story is official story is they are brokering an alliance with the Silverglade elves, to seem more reasonable. Such a justification may not stand up to scrutiny, if investigated.

Yarmilo of the Vardo provided Vasileios with statues of Isha he requested.

Additionally he provided him with a rumor of a man matching Vasileios's brother's description spotted two weeks ago in Orashire, headed north on a 'pilgrimage'. He knew few more details.

They were reminded the land of haunted ice is an area where the teleportation subschool does not function, nor does the divination school. There are no exceptions.

They purchased supplies for the journey, including homunculi named Grimace, Oddball, Smush, and Cueball.

Tzara decided to message the Vatatzes messenger, upon Kaliero's urging. She said the following.

As ambassador of the Viszudar, I regret to inform you that Luna is not a slave and we hope we can resolve this misunderstanding.

She received a reply which said the following.

Requesting immediate assistance and rescue. We were ambushed. Our lady Adriana must judge the veracity of this claim.

Kaliero scryed upon the situation. Kaliero's scrying revealed they were in a fight, and an armored knight was grievously injured. However, it does not seem they are really in need of rescue. It would seem their reply was not a total deception.
