  1. By popular demand (and by this I mean bore was interested I think) here's a personal tier list of all the combat jobs in FFXIV ranked by how much fun I have playing them. Comments on each class are below the tier list
  2.
  3. A few things to note:
  4. - 100% personal taste
  5. - I don't like playing tank very much
  6. - I main healer
  7. - I'm not smart
  8. Great here we go
  9.
  10. S: Astrologian > Summoner > Black Mage
  11. S-: White mage
  12. A: Bard > Dragoon > Warrior
  13. B: Machinist > Ninja > Paladin
  14. C: Red Mage > Scholar > Monk *These three are all really close together/basically tied*
  15. D: Samurai
  16. F---------------------: Dark Knight
  17.
  18. Astro is such a complete healer. While they lost one of their dots in SB (everyone did), they gained so much with sleeve draw, the circle, and minor arcana. The entire point of Astro is card management, and getting more ways and opportunities to do it made the class exponentially more fun to me. Besides that, the circle really lets me play off my tendency to learn fight timings since you have to cook it for 10s in order for it to be most effective. Finding timings and cues in every fight is a ton of fun.
  19. Summoner. The class changed very little from HW to SB and I loved it in HW. It's really about pressing all of your OGCD's in the right order at the right time. Besides that I love ruin 2 weaving while managing OGCDs, which the other casters dont have.
  20. Black Mage. I hated this class in ARR, but it's so much fun. It requires so much knowledge of each fight to play well, and like I said above I love that. Not to mention this class just FEELS good.
  21. White Mage is the best healer in dungeons IMO. Holy spam >>>>> Gravity. However I'm not a huge fan of healing dungeons anyway and I'm more biased to rate classes based off 8 man content.
  22. Bard is a pretty cool class. RNG procs can be frustrating but I like the idea of always having to pay attention to procs and knowing when to cut your losses. Dot refresh is satisfying to get right on bosses that go away.
  23. Dragoon flows really well in my opinion. It's pretty simple to pick up and play decently too. Jumps are flashy and fun to use, especially when you get to close gaps with them. Elusive jump is the greatest move in this video game.
  24. Warrior is the tank I mostly play. Fell Cleave is satisfying, Inner Release isnt active so much that its annoying or monotonous, and the OGCDs are all pretty unique. The fact that tank/DPS stance are OGCDs is the big seller here IMO, lets the class play so much more freely for something so small
  25. Machinist is simple as heck. Use all your stuff when you put wildfire up, press 1 until you get a proc when it isnt. All of this class's OGCDs are designed to line up with wildfire, which makes using it a lot less frustrating than it used to be. Mch is also the class with the least amount of buttons by a mile. Would recommend playing if you want to learn how to line up OGCDs and not worry about too much else
  26. Ninja is too complicated for me. Concept owns though. Mudras are pretty cool when they work right and I enjoy the speed of the GCDs
  27. Paladin is probably the most complete tank right now IMO. It has so much utility and it weaves physical attacks and casting really well from what I understand. I just never could get in to it personally.
  28. Red Mage is super simple, which is actually why its so low. Probably the best class for beginners, which is pretty dumb considering you cant play it until youre lvl 50 on something else. The dualcast thing is cool and creates a unique rhythm to the class, and makes it absolutely mandatory for raid progression because infinite insta-rez was one of the most ??? design choices of all time
  29. Scholar is another class I could never get in to. It seems like the most intricate in terms of DPS, if what Ive messed around with is right. Pet management can be minimal but even so Im not a huge fan of it with healing.
  30. Monk is real fast. Honestly wish I could put this one a bit higher but it just falls short compared to the other melee DPS. Nothing about the class really caught my attention, and so far nothing has changed that.
  31. Samurai actually plays pretty well. The reason its so far down is because Im still mad that they ruined the concept of the class at 70. Just take everything you learned from the class and then forget it all and press this 1 button. It can still be fun but it just makes me sad to see it, because the early level concepts were really good.
  32. Dark Knight is bad. Not only does it have the fewest defensive CDs of the tanks, but its whole thing is Dark Arts. And, in the end, it doesnt matter what skill you use DA on because its 140 potency no matter what. So really you just press DA between every attack. Its a very hollow and superficial mechanic that used to be good.
