Chapter 4 - First Day of School - Extra Chapter

The past few years since I started school has been without any problem.

When I say no problem , I mean problems which put my life at risk.

Dueling with linnea and Purusena, Walking in the street surrounded by girls [looks to be ero-girl or Gals] which Ariel-sama is pretending to be me.
[This line needs editing, looks to be something that happened in previous chapters]

Small stuff like that happened , but something to put my life in danger never happened.

Thing were going the way Ariel-sama wanted.

In the last few years, Ariel-sama has increased her followers as well.

However, after entering the third year.
We obtained a certain information.

The information is about a person called "Rudeusu of the quagmire".

Rudeusu.

So, I finally found some information on Rudy.

In a young age he is an A-Rank adventurer , and just in a few years spread his name in the [Magic Triumvirate] .

His specialty is earth magic.

His strength level is not determined, but he can create a huge quagmire with no chanting.

When I heard he is a quagmire magician, I was convinced that's Rudy.

When I think about it, when we first met he was using mud.

Since Rudy is a water magician so thinking he is good with water magic would be normal, but, whether it be using quagmire or fast-moving shock wave, he liked using different kind of magic like that. [Might need a bit of editting]

I spoke to Ariel-sama about this.

"Rudeusu of the quagmire" is the person who taught me how to use magic,
And, he is the person who has been missing for a long time.

“If he is the real deal , Certainly I would like to borrow his power …”

I think that Ariel-sama was skeptical about Rudy.

Since the information on "Rudeusu of the quagmire" were indeed dubious.

Rudeusu Grayrat.

He was from Asura kingdom, Fedoa territory , Buina village.

At the age of 3 he became apprentice to (water-saint rank at the time) water-class magician Roxy Migurudia.

At the age of 5 he became a Saint-Water Magician.

At the age of 7 he became the tutor for the daughter of the mayor of Fedoa Ellis Boreas Grayrat.

As the story goes , the trouble maker and violent daughter of the mayor was properly disciplined and educated by him.

At that time when the Fedoa territory Mana Calamity happened he went missing..

In the past , even if I heard this much I wouldn’t think it’s particularly a great thing.

But now that I lived in Asura Kingdom and Studied at the Magic University I can say this with confident.
This personal history is a fake. [Maybe Resume , or carrier]
It's Fiction.

But, I know.
Rudi respected Roxy-sensei as his shisho.
Though I never saw Roxy myself.

But, I know that Roxy-san was in Buena village.
And, Roxy-san gave Rudi a wand.
And when we were separated at the age of 7 for him to become home tutor matches as well.

"There is no mistake, it's Rudy"

Luke and Ariel-sama were skeptical.
However since it couldn’t be helped they believed me for now.
Even me who know Rudy think this information is dubious.

Honestly, I'm not familiar with the landscape of the Asura kingdom.
And could not remember more than year.
However, with respect to Grayrat, even I have heard about them.

Boreas was ally with The first prince.
Eurus and Zephyrus were ally of the second prince.
Notus was our ally, but is now in the first Prince faction.
In other words, Boreas is enemy.
And, even Rudy who was tutor of Boreas, might be an enemy as well.

However, Boreas and Rudy ought to have separated a long time ago already.
If not, he would not be an adventurer in the north.

“If I ask him , I am sure …”

Even though I am saying it , I myself have no confidence.
In such words with no confidence, Luke start to laugh.

"With your breast size , there is no way a man from Notus would accept you."

To those words of Luck , I hold on to my breast Puku~tsu..

Luke is always like this.
Always talking about breast.

Woman breast.
Woman with no breast are not woman.
I do not feel the charm of a woman from you.

There is no helping it , small breast is a trait of us Long-ear tribes.

But Luke is not just bad-mouthing.

"I had Sylphy it her best up till now , at least I have to let you have your reunion  right …"

Ariel-sama after saying that and clapping her hand said,

I thanked her honestly.
I saw some scheming people, but it is the usual.

ルディを学校に招くという企みは順調に進んだ。
　ジーナス教頭に情報を流し、それとなく勧誘を促せば、彼は簡単に動いてくれた。


　数カ月後、ボクの待ち望んだ日がやってきた。
　修練場での実習授業中、ジーナス教頭が一人の人物をつれて入ってきた。
　ボクは歓喜の声を上げそうになった。

The plot to get Rudy to school went smoothly.
Leaking the information to the vice principal Jinus, if he hear of it, he will move without a doubt.


Few months later, the day that I looked forward to came.
During battle practice at the training field, Jinasu vice principal brought a person with himself.
I almost raised my voice from joy.

ルディ。
　ルディだ！

　間違いない。
　昔と違って、表情に影が差しているようにも見えるけど、間違いない。
　ボクがルディを見間違えるはずがない。

Rudy.

Unlike before, even though he looks to have had a hard time, but no doubt.

　記憶にある少年の面影を残しつつも、ルディはたくましくなっていた。
　物腰は鋭く、足取りからもよく鍛えてある事がわかる。
　擦り切れたローブはワイルドで、歴戦のそれを思わせる。
　杖も、遠目から見ても使い込まれたいいものだとわかる。
　周囲を油断なく見回ししながら注意深く歩いているのも、昔のままだ。

（うわぁ……ボク、あんな人と結婚しようとか思ってたんだ）

　そう考えると、なんだか体が熱くなる。

「ル……っ！？」

　ルディはうっとおしそうにしていたけど、決して嫌がってはいなかった。

　混乱している間に、ルディに駆け寄る機会は失われた。

The woman was a long-ear race.
Somehow she had a air about her like my dad.
Dignified features, gave off a noble impression.
And, such a person, was clinging to Rudy.
It was like she wanted to push Rudy down, but he wasn’t bothered by it at all.

While confused, I lost the opportunity to rush over to Rudy.

その後、ルディの試験をするということで、ボクが呼ばれた。
　ルディが本当に無詠唱魔術を使えるかどうかを見るらしい。

　その頃には、ボクもなんとか気を取り直していた。
　あんなにかっこいいルディなら、すでにいい人がいてもおかしくない。
　そう考えたのだ。

After that, I was called to be Rudy’s examiner.
It was a test to see whether Rudy can use non-chant magic or not.

By that time, I was also able to pull myself together somehow.

When I was totally puzzled,
I remembered that I have sunglasses on , and changed my hair color to white , and dressed like a boy.

そうでなくとも、別れてから８年は経つのだ。
　成長によって、大きく変わっているんだから、一目でわからなくても仕方がない。

　ボクは自分本位に考え過ぎていた。
　自分が気付いたんだから、向こうも気付くだろうと考えていた。
　気がはやっていたのだろう。

Even not considering that , it’s been 8 years since we have been separated.
I grown up and changed so much , not recognizing me the first time isn’t all that starnge.

I was thinking too selfishly on my own.
I was thinking since I recognized him ,he should have recognized me as well.
I was getting ahead of myself.

じゃあ、改めてサングラスを外して、名前を名乗ればいい。
　アリエル王女からも許可は得ている。
　こんな所ではまずいけど、
　彼を物陰にでも呼び出して、そこで改めて名乗ればいい。

　しかし、ボクは思ったのだ。
　思ってしまったのだ。

So, I just need to remove my sunglasses and introduce myself.
I have obtained permission from Ariel princess.

Though I just though like that, I couldn’t remove my sunglass anymore.
Removing my sunglass , and introducing myself , then hearing ‘Sorry , who are you again ?’.
When I thought like that, I couldn’t do it anymore.

"Is, Oh, yes"

ルディにあったらこう言おう、ああ言おうと思っていた事は霧散した。
　もう、何を言っていいのかも、わからなくなった。
　そして、あれよあれよという間に試験が開始され。

　ボクは負けた。
　完膚なきまでに、敗北した。

　わけのわからない術で魔術を封じられ、
　何も出来ないまま、見たこともないようなレベルの岩砲弾が頬をかすめた。

When I see Rudy I say this ,was what I thought, but I forgot all of it.
I didn’t know what to say anymore.
While I was thinking those stuff the exam began.

I lost.
I was completely defeated. magic way to unaccountable,
While with a technique I had no idea about my magic was sealed , an incredible Rock Bullet grazed my chick.

当てようと思えば当てられたのに。
　手加減されたのだ。
　ボクの成長をどうこうなんて話じゃない。
　ルディは、もっともっと先を行っていたのだ。

「い、今の……どうやってやったの……？」

　やっとの思いで聞けたのは、それだけだった。

「乱魔(ディスタブマジック)という魔術です。知りませんか？」

Though if I think about seeing it , I have seen it before.
He was going easy on me.
It wasn’t on the level of how much I have grown.
Rudy, was way more ahead of me.

"I, ... just now ...... How did you do that?"

I was barely able to say just that.

" Ran Ma ’Magic Canceler’ is called. Do not you know it? "

知らなかった。
　聞いたこともなかった。
　恐らく、どこかの種族の独自魔術か何かだろう。
　魔法大学の誰に聞いても、そんな魔術を知っている人はいないはずだ。

　改めて、そう思った。

　芽生えたのは尊敬の念だった。
　彼は、やはり成長していた。
　自分なんかとは、比べ物にならないぐらい。
　そう思いながら見ていると、彼はやおら、頭を下げた。

Perhaps, it would be race’s unique magic or something.
Even if you ask in magic university no one knows about that magic.

Again, I thought so.

That deepened my respect for him again.
As I thought He had grown still.

　新入生である僕に花を持たせてくださったんですね！」

　ボクは困惑した。

　ボクは何もできなかった。それはルディだってわかったはずだ。

　困惑しつつもボクは、ルディの伸ばした手を掴んだ。
　魔術師の手ではなかった。
　剣士の手だった。
　掌にタコが出来て、それを潰したことのある者の手だった。
　ルークよりもずっと長いこと剣を持っている者の手だった。
　剣士でもないのに。

I was puzzled.
I don’t get what he means.
I could not do anything. Rudy has to know that as well.
Yet to have let him win?
I grabbed the hand that Rudy stretched out to me while confused.
It was not the hand of a magician.
It was the hand of a swordsman.
It was the hand of a person that work hard.[basically it had callouses]
It was the hand of those who have hold a sword much longer even Luke.
Though he was not even a swordsman.

そして、困惑しつつも、ボクはその手を掴んで、ドキドキしていた。
　ルディの温もりが、ボクの手を伝わってくるのが、なんだか無償に嬉しかった。
　しかし、ルディはさらにボクを困惑させてきた。

「本日の御礼は、後日きっちりとさせていただきます」

　お礼、どういう事だろうか。
　わからない。
　わからない。

　わからないけど、後日また会えるという事に思い至った。
　ちょっとだけ顔が熱くなるのを感じながら、ボクはコクコクと頷いた。

　そしてルディが去ってから、覚えられていなかった事を思い出し、泣いた。

Though I was confused , when I hold his hand , my heart started beating doki-doki.
Rudy’s warmth was being transferred to me , I kinda felt happy about it
However, Rudy has baffled me even further.

"In thanks for today , I’ll repay the favor later on"

Thank you, I wonder why thank me.
I don’t get it.
Don’t get it at all.

I don’t get it , but I though it means that we will meet later.
Feeling my face getting red , I did nod in agreement.

And when Rudy left, I remembered stuff that I had forgotten , I cried.

生徒会室に戻って一息ついたら、シルフィに泣きつかれました。

「はじめましてって言われた……」

　最初は、ルーデウスが女連れだった事を悩んでいるのかと思いました。
　ちなみに、ルーデウスと一緒にいた女性は彼のパーティメンバーのS級冒険者。
　ルーデウスとは深い関係ではない、という事はすぐに分かりました。
　しかし、シルフィの心は晴れないようです。
　それ以前の問題であったから

When I got back to the student council room, Sylphy was crying.

"...... did you say your greetings?"

At first I thought that Rudeus has woman and children.
By the way, the woman who came with him was a S-rank adventurer in his party.
I figured that she has a deep relation to Rudues.
However, Sylphy’s heart does not seem sunny.

　転移事件から、自分の両親が死んだ時ぐらいしか泣かなかった子が。
　あのみすぼらしいローブをきた少年に覚えられていないというだけで、これです。
　こんな彼女を見ていると、加虐的な心が芽生えてしまいます。

　私はシルフィエットには嫌われたくありません。
　友達ですもの。

"Sylphy ......"

I was puzzled.
this is the first time something like this happened.
The Girl named Sylphyette should have been a stronger child than this.
Stout-hearted, single-minded and straight forward kinda girl.

The girl who since The Teleportation incident and finding out her parent were dead haven’t cried till now.
Just from thinking that shabby robed boy does not remember her is being like this.
When I look at her like this, my sadistic heart is aching.[this seems to be having another meaning]

I do not want to be hated by Sylphyette.
I want us to be friends.

しかし、あの少年。

　シルフィと同い年なら、ようやく成人したかどうか、という所でしょうか。

　正直、シルフィの話から想像していたのとは少々違いました。
　私の第一印象は「みすぼらしい男」です。

He should be the same age as Sylphi is he matured so much ?.

He could buy another cheap robe instead of this shabby one.
A humble Attitude to the point of being unnatural, looking around suspiciously , a Face with no apparent self-confidence.

Also whether I hit on him or he flirts with me I don’t think I would feel any excitement.
In that regard Luck is far better.

　彼もルーデウスに関しては、少々思う所があるようです。

However, that boy.

As for Rudues he seems to have some idea as well.

　ルークの軽い言葉に、シルフィは情けない声で抗議しました。
　ルークはやれやれとため息をついています。

ルークは、剣は一人前ですが、凡才の域を出ません。

Luke is a full-fledged swordsman, but it is not out of the realm of mediocrity.

In regard to anything else he is air-headed.
Specially when it coms to women , he says you have to do as much as you can , and it’s his catch phrase.
It is the manliness of grayrat house.

そんな彼には、一つの特技があります。
　それは、観察する事と、女性の本質を見抜く事です。
　彼は様々な情報から、人となりを見るのです。
　グレイラット家に伝わる『引っ掛けるとまずい性悪女を篩に掛ける観察眼』だそうです。
　あの一族はそんなのばかりですね。

　そんな彼は、シルフィの事を尊敬しています。

As he is , there is one thing he is good at.
To observe and read the heart of women.
From a variety of information, he sees the person’s personality.

Such a man has deep respect for Sylphy.

女性としてではなく、同僚として、戦友として尊敬しているようです。

　女と見れば、思う様に犯し捨ててもいいと思っているような男が。
　シルフィという女性を、尊敬しているのです。
　シルフィとはそれほどの女性です。
　私もよくわかります。
　暗殺者や追手との戦いで、危機をしのいできたシルフィを私も尊敬しています。
　一生懸命なんです。彼女は。

And that is not as a woman, but as a colleague and as a comrade-in-arms.
That, the prodigal son of Notus-grayrat house.
That man who believes when looking at a woman it’s okay to do whatever you like.
Has respect for a Girls as Sylphy.
Sylphy is that much of a woman.
I also know that.

そんなルークのルーデウスに対する思う所については、先ほどこっそりと聞きました。

　ルーデウスは信用できない、とルークは言います。
　それは、ルーデウスの噂に起因しているようです。

　ルーデウスという人物に関しては、シルフィの昔話以外では、噂を聞く程度でした。
　その噂によると、強いのに決して怒らない、決して喧嘩をしない、出来た人物という話です。
　悪い噂がまったく無いのです。
　話だけ聞くと、物語上の人物ですね。

Just a bit ago I heard how Luck thinks about Ruduse.

Luke says Rudeusu can not be trusted.
It seems to be due to the rumor about Rudeusu.

For man such as Ruduse beside Sylphy’s description we just heard rumors.
According to the rumor, Even though he is so strong , he never gets angry and never picks a fight.
There is no bad rumor about him at all.
When I hear this, I think he is a character from a story.

ルークの持論によると、噂というものはいい噂より悪い噂の方が伝わりやすいものだそうです。
　ルークは意図的に情報が操作されている可能性を疑っていました。

　例えば、先日入ってきた情報に、
　『泥沼のルーデウスがはぐれ竜を一人で退治した』というものがありました。
　はぐれ竜を、一人で、です。
　できるわけがありません。

According to Luck’s theory, a person with good rumor about him is worse than a person with bad rumor about him.
Luck suspects that he manipulated the rumors.

For example, the information that came in the other day,
said that " Rudeusu of the quagmire exterminated a stray dragon alone."

「噂になるぐらいだ、それに準じた事はしてきたのだろう」とルークは言いました。
　恐らくは、少人数による竜退治。
　それを自分ひとりでやったと喧伝しているのだと。

　もちろん、強いといえば強いのでしょう。
　曲がりなりにも、魔力付与品(マジックアイテム)で武装したシルフィを倒したのですから。

　ルークのルーデウスを実際に見て下した評価は、そうしたものでした。

　そうした男は、いざという時に裏切るから、信用できない。
　ルークはそう断言しました。
However, even if he defeated a stray dragon , this rumor is weird.
To begin with , in a short span of time of 2 years , spreading the rumor to [Magic Triumvirate] wont be possible unless you do it intentionally .

Intentionally, manipulating the information, and only spread the good rumor.

That’s how Luke saw Rudues.

We wont know when such a man would betray us, so he can’t be trusted.

「自分は奴を引き込む事には反対です。アリエル様」
「そうですね、私もそう思います。ですが、強いのは確か……ひとまず保留にしましょうか」

　この決定に首をかしげたのは、シルフィです。

「え？」

　彼女は抗弁します。

"Well, I think so as well. Though in him being strong there is no doubt …"

自分を覚えていないことと、ルーデウスの能力は関係ないはずだと。
　ルーデウスはすごく強くなっていたのだと。
　そして、あの乱魔という不思議な魔術。
　あれはどこかの種族の特殊な魔術に違いない。
　あれを使えば、魔術師はみんな役に立たなくなる。
　仲間になってくれれば、これほど頼れる人はいない、と。

　しかし、そうではないのです。
　私達は、すでに彼を胡散臭いと、そう思っているのです。
　シルフィはどうやら、久しぶりに出会った幼馴染に盲目的になっているようですが……。

Not being able to remember me, has nothing to do with his power and ability.

And, also that weird Ran Ma magic.

　この数ヶ月、シルフィがどれだけウキウキしながら待っていたのか、見せてやりたいぐらいです。
　これでも私は、シルフィとルーデウスの感動的な再開に期待していたのです。
　転移事件からこっち、悲報ばかり届く中、感動的なハッピーエンドを見たかったのです。

　まったくもう。
　確かにシルフィは男装をしていますが、
　白い髪を短く切った長耳族なんて、滅多にいないでしょうに。

After that, we have become emotional on this topic.
We were thinking who was Sylphy’s emotional support all these years.
Definitely, It is that Rudeusu.

And not to mention that Humble attitude after winning against Sylphy.
Is he lumping my Sylphy with those run of the mill magican.
That is how I thought.

As for Sylphy.
Even though she has lost that pathetically why is she looking so happy.

I feel a strong jealousy.

私の言葉にルークが便乗しました。
　そして、シルフィはむくれてしまいました。

「……なんなんだよ。皆してルディの事を悪く言ってさ」

　シルフィは納得していないようでしたが、ルーデウスを仲間に引き入れる作戦は一旦中止。
　しばらく様子を見ることにしました。

　彼に対する過剰な接触は禁止。
　しかし、シルフィが個人的に接触する分には、良しとしました。

Luke as well confirmed my words.
And, Sylphy said.

“… what is this , all of you teaming up and bad-mouthing Rudy”

Sylphy did not seem convinced, but the strategy to bring Rudeus on board has been temporarily put on hold.
So we decided to wait and see for a while.

Excessive contact with him is forbidden.
However, Sylphy can have personal contact with him.

あんなに胡散臭い男でも、ようやく見つかったシルフィの知り合いですし。
　シルフィ、なんだかんだ言って嬉しそうですしね。

　それに、もしかすると、私たちの第一印象が悪かっただけで、
　彼は噂通りの傑物かもしれませんからね。
　繋がりは作っておきましょう。

「もちろん、シルフィが正体を明かしたいと思ったら、その時は構いませんよ」

　シルフィの正体を知られる事のリスクはあります。
　でも、それでルーデウスの底と、噂の真偽が知れるのであれば、安いものかもしれませんしね

Even if he is such a shady guy , he is still Sylphy’s friend.
Sylphy, regardless of what happened seems happy.

それから一ヶ月後。

　入学式にてボクはルディを見ていた。
　制服を来たルディは入試の時に比べて、数段輝いて見えた。
　目があって、すごくドキドキした。

　とはいえ、彼は特別生。
　いまさらルディがこの学校で習う事は少ないだろうから、
　きっと会える機会も少ないだろう、とその時のボクは思っていた。

　一ヶ月前の会議で、ルディには過剰な接触はしない方向で話がついた。

Then a month later.

I saw Rudy at entrance ceremony.
Compared to the time of entrance examination, now it was like I am seeing him shining in hi Uniform.
Our eyes met, I was very nervous.

That said, he is special students.
Now that he was here I though the opportunity to meet him and spend time together would not be much.

After that a lot of thing was said , but in the end it seems those 2 do not like Rudy.
Why is that, I have no idea.
Maybe I am weird.

But they told me I can get along personally with him.

過剰に接触するのはダメだけど、仲良くするのはいい。
　どれぐらいがよくて、どれぐらいがダメなのか。
　明言してくれないのは、アリエル様の優しさだろう。
　それだけでも、十分だ。
　ルディと話せるだけでも、ボクにとっては十分だ。
　でも、どうやって話しかけようなぁ……。

Excessive contact is not good, but it is okay to make friends.
How much is good, How much is not.
I think even this much should be due to Ariel-sama’s kindness.
Well even that is good enough.
Just being able to talk to Rudy is enough for me.
But ...... I wonder how can I speak with him.

と、そんなことを思いながら、アリエル様と授業を受ける。
　アリエル様はカリスマとして、成績を維持しないといけないから大変だ。

　混合魔術の授業はボクの知っているものとは全然ちがった。
　ルディはロキシーさんから習ったらしいし、
　この学校でも同じことを教えていると思ったんだけど、なんか小難しい。

　それでもボクはルディの教えがあったからすんなり理解できる。
　けど、アリエル王女やルークは苦戦している。
　ボクもなるべくサポートするべく、アリエル様にあれこれと教える。
　けど、ルディに教わった教え方をしても、あまり理解してもらえない。

And, while I am thinking about such things, Ariel-sama is attending classes.
Since Areil-sama is charismatic , she need to maintain her grades.

The Melding magic class she was taking was very different from what I was taught.
Rudy seems to have learned it from Roxy-san , but eve though they are teaching the same thing here in magic university it seems very difficult.

Since I was taught by Rudy I can understand them very fast.
But, Luke and Ariel princess are having a hard time learning it.
I also in order to support as much as possible, am teaching a lot of stuff to Ariel-sama.
But, even though I am teaching using Rudy’s method they don’t seem to understand very well.

「フィッツ、次の授業に関する資料をもってきてくださる？」

　アリエル様の言いつけで、ボクは図書館に赴く。
　図書館は本校舎の外にある。
　次の授業までそれほど時間があるわけではない。
　急がないといけない。

　図書館には３年間通いつめているから、どこにどんな本がおいてあるのか、よく知っている。
　今日の授業で必要な資料の場所も、ちょっと考えればすぐに頭に浮かんだ。
　それを一つずつ手に取って行く。
　うん、これならすぐに戻れる。
　と、その時だ。

「あっ！」
"Fitz , will you bring the documents for the next class ?"

Obeying Ariel-sama , I go to the library.
Library is outside of the school building.
There isn’t much time before the next class begins.
I Have to hurry.

And because I’ve been here for three years I know where to look for what in the library.
The location of the materials necessary in today's class also came to mind as soon as I thought about it a little.
I picked them one by one.
Like this I’ll be able to go back to class fast.

本棚の前にいた人物を見て、ボクは声を上げた。

　ルディがいた。

　不意打ちだった。
　後日、機会を見て会いに行こうとは思っていたのだが

　慌てるボクにルディが気づいた。
　次の瞬間、ルディは深々と頭を下げた。

When I saw the person in front of the Bookshelf I leaked that sound.

Rudy was there.

I thought we would see each other but I didn’t expect to see him here.

While I was panicking Rudy noticed me.
The next moment, Rudy made a deep bow.

「先日は申し訳ありませんでした。
　僕の浅はかな行動で先輩の顔を潰すような事になってしまいました。
　いずれ菓子折りでも持って挨拶にでも出向こうと思っていましたが、
　何分新入生ゆえ、あれこれと忙しく……」
「うぇぁ！？　……い、いいよ、頭を上げて」

　どうやら、ルディはボクが機嫌を損ねたと思っていたようである。
　驚きだ。
　入試の時の言葉は、そういったものだったのだ。

　でも確かに。
　言われてみると、ボクはメンツを潰された形になるのか。
　うん。言われてみると。確かに。うん。

“Sorry about the other day . As inexperience as I am , I nearly destroyed sempai’s face. I wanted to meet sempai and apologize(and though of buying some cake) but since I am a new student a lot of stuff happened and I was busy so …”
"U~ea? ...... It’s okay, raise your head"

Apparently, Rudy thinks he has offended me.
I was Surprise.
So those word at the admission day meant this.

But now that he said it.
When I think about it , my face almost got destroyed.
I see.
For sure.
It would be like that.

……だからアリエル様とルークも不機嫌だったのだろうか。
　ボクは最初からルディには勝てないと思っていた。
　そりゃあ、あんな何もさせてもらえないとは思わなかったけど。
　でも、二人にしてみれば、ボクが負けたのは面白くないはずだ。

　いや、そんな事はいいんだ。とりあえず置いとこう。

「ルデ……えっと、ルーデウス君？　君はここで何を？」
「少々調べ物を」
「何について？」
「転移事件です」

So,  that’s why Ariel-sama and Luke were in a bad mood as well.
I knew from the beginning that I could not win against Rudy.
Well , though I didn’t think that it would be this overwhelming.
But for those 2 , me losing , wasn’t a enjoyable I guess.

No, such a thing is  okay. Let us put it aside for now.

"Rud ...... eh, Rudeusu-kun? Why are you here?"
"A little investigating ."
"About what?"
"This Teleportation Incident"

その言葉を聞いて、ボクは思った。
　もしかして、と。
　もしかして、ルディもボクと同じように考えたのかな、と。

「転移事件を？　なんで？」
「僕もアスラ王国のフィットア領に住んでいましてね。例の転移事件では魔大陸まで飛ばされました」
「魔大陸！？」

　さらに驚いた。
　魔大陸の話は聞いた事がある。
　D級以上の魔物しか存在しない、過酷な土地だという話だ。
　剣士で武者修行に行く人もいるけど、ほとんど戻ってこない。
　そして、転移事件でそこに飛ばされた人の生存が絶望視されている。
　ルディは、そこから帰ってきたというのだ。
When I heard those words, I thought.
I thought maybe Rudy was thinking along the same line as I am.

"Why? Teleportation incident?"
"I too have lived in Fedoa territory of the Asura kingdom. Because of that incident I was sent to Demon continents ." [I bet it the magic continent from Silentwolf translation]
"Demon continent?"

I was even more surprised.
I have heard stories about Demon Continent.
It’s a harsh land which Magic-beast are all above D-rank.
Some people go to warrior training but most of them wont come back.
So , if someone was teleported to there their chance of survival was mostly Zero.
Rudy, managed to come back from there.

「ええ、かえってくるのに三年も掛かりました。その間に家族は見つかったようですが、まだ知り合いの一人も見つかりませんし、いい機会だから、詳しく調べて見ようと思いましてね」
「……もしかして、それを調べるためにこの学校に？」
「そうです」

　その言葉を聞いて、ボクはルーデウスの凄さを再確認した。

「そっか、やっぱり……すごいや」

"Yeah, it took even three years to come back. By that time my family has been found, but I one of my acquaintance is still missing, and because it is a good opportunity I am trying to examine the details of the incident"
"Do you mean ..., in order to research on that you cam to this school?"
"That's right"

When I heard those words, I reaffirmed the Rudeusu ‘s greatness.

魔大陸から三年も掛けて戻ってきても、決して安心する事なく、他の人を探し続けた。
　それだけでも凄いのに、魔法大学からのお誘いが来たら、これ幸いにと、事件について調べようというのだ。
　そんな人、他にはいないだろう。
　もしボクなら、三年も掛けて戻ってきた所で力付きて、難民キャンプに居着いてしまうだろう。

「先輩はここで何をしてるんですか？」

　そんな言葉で、ボクは我に帰った。
　資料を運ぶ途中だったのだ。
　アリエル様が待っている。
　もっとルディと話していたいけど、アリエル様を放っておくわけにはいかない。

Even though coming back from Magic continent took 3 years , instead of relaxing , he started to search for another person .
Even though just that is pretty amazing , since he received an invitation from Magic University he decided to research the incident as well.
You could not find such a person anywhere else.
If it was me , coming back after 3 years which is amazing , I would be resting at the refuge camp.
"Sempai , what are you here for?"

Hearing those words I cam back to myself.
I was in the middle of transferring the materials for the class.
Ariel-sama is waiting.
I want to talk to Rudy more, but I can not afford to leave Ariel-sama alone either.

「あっと、そうだ。資料を運ぶ所だったんだ。ボクはもう行くよ。ルーデウス君。またね」
「あ、はい、また」

　踵を返し、資料の貸出の申請をしようとした所で、ふと思い出した。
　この図書館は広大で、書物がたくさんあるが、転移事件に関して必要なものは少ない。
　いくらルディでも、転移事件について調べるのは時間が掛かってしまうだろう。

「あ、そうだ。転移についてならアニマス著の『転移の迷宮探索記』を読むといいよ。
　物語形式だけど、分かりやすく書いてあるから」

　まずボクが転移について理解するに至った書物を、勧めておく事にした。
　あれなら、子供でも転移がどういうものかわかるはずだ。
　他の書物では破り取られた部分も乗ってるしね。

　少しだけ良い事をした気分になって、ボクは図書館を出た。

"Ah , I was in the middle of delivering materials for the class , I am leaving now , see you later Rudeus-kun."
"Oh, also, yes"

While I was leaving , I remembered this library is big and have a lot of books , but material regarding Teleportation incident aren’t that much.
Even for Rudy , researching Teleportation Incident would take a lot of time.

"Oh, yes. It is good to read the ‘labyrinth of transition’ by Animasu.
It is in narrative form, but because it is written in an easy-to-understand way it would be good to start from there "

I decided to recommend that book, since that let me understand the transition first.
If it is that, you'll understand transition because it’s written so even a child can understand it.
Though there were parts that have been thorn from it.

That made me feel I did a bit of a good thing and left the library.

Part 3
その日の夕方。
　ボクは下着を洗っていた。
　アリエル様の下着である。

　アリエル様の衣類を洗うのは、ボクの役目だ。
　というのには、理由がある。

　アリエル様の下着は極めて高価な布地で作られている。
　そのうえ、アスラ王族の下着という事で、付加価値も付く。
　要するに、市場に持っていけば高値で売れてしまうのだ。

That evening.
I was washing underwear.
It is Ariel-sama’s underwear.

Washing Ariel-sama’s cloth is part of my duties.
Though  say that , there is a reason for it.

Ariel-sama’s underwear is made from a very expensive fabric.
Moreover, Since it’s Asura Kingdome’s Royalty underwear it has extra value.
In short, selling it would fetch a very high price.

実際、入学した当初、洗濯に出した下着が盗まれ、売られた事があったのだ。
　５枚の内４枚が盗まれ、内３枚が売られた。
　残った一枚は、犯人の男子生徒が個人的な使用をしていたらしい。

　そうした事に耐性のない女生徒は「信じられない！」と、過敏に反応していた。
　アスラ王国にて生まれ育ったアリエル様や、そのアリエルの下の世話をしてきたボクにとっては、大して驚く事ではない。
　アスラ王国には、もっと変な人がたくさんいたのだから。

　でも、やっぱり不快なものは不快だ。

In fact, when she first enrolled and had her underwear taken for laundry it was stolen and sold.
Four out of five pieces were stolen, and from those 4 ,3 of it were sold.
The 1 remaining was probably kept by the culprit for personal use.

And the female student with no way to counter were saying “I can’t believe it”.
Since Ariel-sama was born and raised in Asura Kingdome and I have lived there it wasn’t that surprising for us.
Since in Asura Kingdome there were a lot more weird people.

But, uncomfortable things are still uncomfortable.

ということで、それ以来、アリエル様の衣類の洗濯はボクの仕事となった。
　アリエル様は、ボクにそんな事をやらせるのは、と少し戸惑っていたけど、
　ボクも自分の分を一緒に洗濯できるし、都合がいい。
　ちなみに、ボクは性別を隠すため、下着をアリエル様とお揃いのものを着用している。
　色違いだけどね。


　順調に洗濯を終え、下着だけは夜のうちに陰干ししておこうとベランダに出る。
　そして、紐のついた物干し竿に一つずつ吊るしていく最中。

「あれ……？」
So, since then, washing Ariel-sama’s clothing became my duty.
Ariel-sama making me do that, was a bit confusing , but since I could wash them along with my own cloths it was okay in the end.
By the way, to hide my gender, my underwear are just like Ariel-sama. Though it is in a different color.


So to hide it , I usually do the underwear laundry at night and as I was trying to air it on the veranda.
And, while I was putting them on string one by one.

ふと、ベランダの下を見て、驚いた。
　なんと、日が暮れた後だというのに、男子生徒が歩いているのだ。
　寮生のルールでは、この時間は男子が歩いてはいけない事になっている。
　下着泥棒の事もあるし、今は時期じゃないが、発情期の事もあるからだ。
　それなのに、なぜ男子が……。

　ただの近道でも、すぐにでも一階の自称自警団の子たちが、彼を囲むだろう。
　今のうちに警告しておいた方がいいんだろうか。
　一番最初に発見した人は、他の人にしらせる義務がある。
　いや、でもボクはあんまり声出しちゃダメって事になってるしな……。

Suddenly, looking under the veranda, I was surprised.

　上を見上げ、こちらを見つけると、落としましたよと言わんばかりにパンツを掲げてきた。
　先ほどの手の動きとは違う、のんきな動作だった。

　ルディは特別生で、特別生は一人部屋だ。
　特別生は寮の色んな当番が免除されてるけど、
　寮のルールを説明する会合みたいなのにも参加できないと聞く。

　教えてあげないと。
　あんな所でパンツを持ったまま立ってたら、絶対に誤解されちゃう。

Rudy seems to have noticed that what he is holding in his hand is pants.
And he looked up and found me , and figured he caught the pants I dropped.

　それとも、うまいこと口を使って切り抜けるんだろうか。
　魔術を使って脅したり、逃げたりとか。

　…………ルディはどれもしなかった。

My worries soon became reality.
Suddenly a female student started screaming.
The girls on guard duty who lived on the first floor came out.
Rudy was surrounded in no time.

　その姿は、まるでブエナ村にいた頃の自分のようだった。
　急速に自分の頭が冷えるのを感じた。

　ボクは慌ててベランダから飛び出した。
　階下に降りて、人混みまで走った。

「へぇ、なんだい、開き直って暴れるつもりかい？
　下着泥棒のくせに図々しいじゃないか。
　この人数相手に勝てるとでも思っているのかい？」

　暗くてみんな気づいていないようだったけど、
　ルディは土魔術で足を固定していた。
　その理由については、ボクはわからなかった。
　もしかしたら、意味なんて無いのかもしれない。
　ルディに限って、足を震わせているなんてことはないだろうけど……。

He seem to have his hand caught by Goriede-san and is troubled.
That looked like when I was being bullied in Buena.
My head cooled down suddenly.

(What am I doing!)

I jumped out from the veranda in a hurry.
Went down the stairs and ran till I reach the crowed.

“Hee~h , what happened , aren’t you bold to steal the underwear now , what is it , do you think you can win against this many people ?”

Since it was dark and visibility was low , it seems that no one has noticed that Rudy has fixed his foot using earth magic.
As for the reason he did that , I had no idea , why would Rudy’s feet be trembling …

　気付いた。

　そういえば、ルディはソマルたちを追い払った時。
　足を震わせていた。

　ルディに女の子と知られて、ちょっとギクシャクした時。
　ルディは、「最近シルフィ冷たいよね」と言いながら、少し震えていた。
　そうだ、ルディはボクに嫌われたと思って、少し怯えていたのかもしれない。

　ゴリアーデはルディの腕を離したのだ。
　そして、捨て台詞を一つ残して、その場を去った。
　実質的なリーダーである彼女がいなくなった事で、他の女子も姿を消した。
　ほっと一息。

These threatening words is what I learned from Luke when we were still in Asura kingdom.
He said sometimes bluffing is necessary so I have been training to the best of my ability.
In the journey to Ranoa from Asura, I used several times against theft softening field.

　ルディの返事に、ボクは違和感を感じた。

　なんか、ルディの声音から、固いものがとれていた。
　顔を上げてみてみると、ルディの目つきが少しかわっていた。
　今気づいた。

（……ボク、今までルディに警戒されてたんだ）

　思えば、最初から妙におかしいと思ってたんだ。
　やたら頭を下げてくるし……。
　でも、そっか。
　そうだよね。
　よくよく考えてみれば、ボクは『無言のフィッツ』だもんね。
　ルディなら警戒して当然か。

From Rudy’s answer I got a bad feeling.

Somehow, it felt like it was hard for Rudy to talk to me.
When I look at him , I see his look has changed.
I noticed now.

(... I, I had been wary of Rudy until now)

I though it was weird from the bigining.

そして、今、その警戒が解けた。

（なんか……嬉しいな）

　失敗から出た事だけど、ルディに一歩近づけた。
　そう感じたのだ。


　それから、寮の説明をした。
　日が落ちたら、この道は通っちゃいけない決まりがある事。
　ルディはやっぱり知らなかったようで、関心したように頷いていた。

「先輩、本当にありがとうございました」

　ルディはそう言って、最後に頭を下げた。
　ちょっと不思議な気分だった。
　昔、ボクがイジメられていた時は、逆の立場だった。
　あの時、ボクはお礼言ったっけかなぁ……。
　なんて考えてると、不思議と笑いがこみ上げてきた。

Just now Rudy put down his guard against me. Though I made a mistake but I am finally one step closer to Rudy now.

　アリエル様に、男性の手で触られた下着を履かせるというのはよくない気がする。

「やっぱり洗濯しなおしたほうがいいよ……ね……」

　明かりの下で広げて見て、ボクは凍りついた。
　ボクの(・・・)パンツだった。

　これをルディが手に持っていた……。

　ボクはその場で悶絶した。

I went back to the dorm.
Of course, I took back the underwear.
Though as Rudy caught it before it hits the ground it’s not dirty , but after all Rudy is a boy.
It’s not like I think of Rudy as being dirty or anything , but I have feeling having Ariel-sama wear a pants which has been touched by a boy isn’t a good thing.

"Should I re-wash it after all ...... I think that would be better ......"

After turning on the light I froze , it was my pants.

Rudy had touched my Pants. I was in agony there

One month later,
I was supposed to begin to examine the transition incident on the day of Princess Ariel of "breather” with Rudy. [I had no idea how to translate this]

It was after one month.
I was thinking what if he reject me , or I am dead weight , after all it would hurt me a lot.

But, Rudy, gave me a warm welcome.
It’s probably cus of that incident that he is letting his guard down around me.
I think it’s not fair to Rudy but I am happy that I dropped the Pantsu.

While I think about it I took a step forward , it was a big step for me.

そして、何度もあったチャンスを生かせず、
　自分の正体を明かせないまま、
　大きな二歩目を踏み出せないまま、
　一年が過ぎようとしていた。

And not taking any of the chances , which did incease in revealing my identity to him.
I failed to take anymore step forward.
And just like that a year has past.
