My name is Claire Burville and I wish to express my interest for the APS6 Online Content Manager position.  I have worked at the National Library for approximately 10 months now. From September to March I worked in Records Management as part of a records sentencing project, and I currently work as a Finance Officer.   I also currently work at The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a Passports Officer.

I feel like I would enjoy this role and be a valuable member of the team.  I have had a passion for both computing and writing for most of my life.  I feel I have the skills and experience nessicary to promote the library across social media in an accessible and enjoyable manner.

In 2009 I graduated from the University of Canberra with a bachelor of communications.  Immediately after I travelled to Japan where I worked for over four years in an English language school.  Upon my return to Australia I have had several jobs on short contracts.
One of these was AHN Homestay - a nationwide homestay provider for international students.  In this role I had to meet with hosts and students face-to-face and build strong and authentic relationships.  I also had to correspond with stakeholders in a prompt and professional manner by email.

Given my background in communications, I also rewrote a lot of documents including the terms of service for hosts, and an information pack for new students arriving in Canberra.  Students learning English as a second language are especially sensitive to spelling and grammar errors.  In addition, I also had to make the document accessible as not all foreign students have very good English skills. My supervisor was very pleased with the result, and praised my strong writing skills.

I consider myself a very motivated and dependable worker.  I have consistently met the KPIs in both my role in the Records Management Unit and at DFAT.  The record sentencing project consisted of 18000 records and finished approximately three months ahead of schedule.  In addition, I often worked without supervision at the Hume Repository.

Although I have not used social media in a business setting, I am an active user of many social media sites including Facebook, Youtube and Tumblr.  I am very computer savvy and quick to pick up new programs and websites.
