- >Male and Female variants
- >Before class change: Fighters are exactly what they imply: fighters. They are quick, decently durable, and very powerful. Think Jam from guilty gear. However, their amazing speed and power comes at a price: range. With the exception of the Nen-Master, they generally have very little to no ranged options. Their basic attacks don't reach very far, either. Another slight weakness is their inability to fight in the air when compared to classes like the gunner (Ranger) or the thief.
- Good: Speed, Power
- Mediocre: Survivability (Health/Armor/ETC)
- Bad: Range
- >The fighter, both male and female, have four subclasses. These subclasses are unlocked at level 18(?) and further expanded upon in the fifties. This is a critical choice that will truly define your class, and this can be said for ALL CLASSES. Please note: Males and Females generally differ greatly in terms of skills and sometimes even playstyle
- ~~~~~~~~~~Grappler [Light Armor] [Weapon Type: Gauntlets for damage | Tonfa for defenses]~~~~~~~~
- >Grapplers are a unique combination of everything great: damage, crowd control, and defense. They almost exclusively rely on throwing their enemies through a variety of wrestling moves to achieve this. From suplexing to piledriving, Grapplers truly exhaust the vast array of wrestling techniques. These grabs, like almost every grab in the game, temporarily disables the enemy and provides frames of invulnerability for the grappler. But, when your class is focused so much on throwing like the grappler is, one can easily chain together throws to provide invulnerability and crowd control. While your grabbing enemies, your allies can generally throw in some "free hits" -- it's a great way of supporting! The best part of being a grappler? Even if an enemy is immune to grabs, all of your grabs will still land with an alternate hit called a "grab cannon." You basically grab them and punch them really hard -- you can still chain these together to do some crowd control.
- ~~~~~Skill highlights~~~~~~~
- Fling: Fling is one of your low level grabs that is absolutely devastating versus single targets. You grab onto an enemy and lock them in place for a good amount of time. You grab them and your buddies gang up on the helpless victim. You then get to either spike them onto the ground, wallbounce them off of the wall with a forward throw, or toss them high up into the air.
- Air Steiner/Air Steiner EX: A grab performed in the air! Need I say more?
- Shoulder Tackle: Shoulder Tackle is the most under-utilized skill in every grappler's arsenal. It can be decently powerful when maxed out, but every grappler NEEDS one rank of this skill. After you throw an enemy, they generally lie on the ground and therefore can't be grabbed. However, if you shoulder tackle them while they are laying on the ground, you will scooop them off the ground and be able to throw them again. You can combo throws with this skill alone.
- Elbow Shock: A great finishing move after any grab. You pick an enemy up off the ground and slam your elbow into them to create a huge shockwave to hit distant enemies.
- Spiral: Twirl around and grab MULTIPLE ENEMIES before leaping high into the air to piledriver them onto a spot of your choosing. A great throw to start off a room with as it gathers enemies together.
- Unstoppable Grab: Your temporary buff, and boy is it worth it. This buff gives you a flat percentage damage boost to all your grabs and gives you super armor whenever you are performing a grab. Superarmor allows you to get hit without cancelling you out of your attack animation. Basically, you can't be knocked down while going in for a grab. Absolutely incredible.
- Sliding Grab: A passive skill that makes it so that when you perform a grab, you will literally slide forward until you hit an enemy to grab. This is amazing as it gives you range for your grabs. Instead of having to run up close to an enemy and grab them, you can come sliding in performing the grab itself!
- Giant Twister: The Grappler awakening skill. This skill is incredibly strong, works against 99% of the enemies in the game (bosses included), grabs multiple enemies, disables them all for a decent duration, and allows your party to go to town unimpeded. This skill does it all, and I couldn't imagine playing a f.grappler without it! Also, you can totally combo another throw off of this throw if you are quick enough. Pretty deadly stuff.
- Good: Very effective all-arounders with great survivability. Cheap class to play.
- Bad: I personally don't think grapplers are that great in PvP. Unstoppable grab cooldown is longer than its duration. Your damage is respectable, but it won't blow anyone's mind. Despite the substitute throw you are given against enemies you can't grab -- it's still unfortunate to run across enemies who can't be grabbed.
- (Sorry, Male Grapplers -- but I've only played Female grappler.)
- >DISCLAIMER: MALE GRAPPLER HAS A DISORDER WHERE HE TENDS TO ROLL ENEMIES ABOUT MORE THAN HOLD THEM IN PLACE. DEALS HIGHER DAMAGE OFTEN, BUT LACKS UTILITY. A HARDCORE, EFFECTIVE SOLO CLASS.
- ~~~~~~~~~~>Striker [Light Armor] [Weapon Type: Boxing Gloves]~~~~~~~~
- >Strikers are THE damage dealing class of the game. They deal sheer ridiculous amounts of damage, are incredibly fast, and have the best self-buffs in the game. Take Kung-fu to the extreme with their over-the-top martial arts skills. They utilize a unique subweapon, the boxing gloves, to great effect! Boxing gloves are fast and hit hard -- a fitting weapon for such a deadly class.
- ~~~Skill Highlights~~
- Super Armor: You wanna talk amazing self-buffs? Look no further than Super Armor. This skill raises your defense and gives you permanent superarmor (Getting hit doesn't flinch you) for the duration of the skill (which is almost always able to be kept up) -- Never fear getting interrupted again. Because you won't.
- Power Fist: Another amazing self-buff. This skill increases your physical attack power at the cost of attack speed. It's worth the trade-off.
- Fatal Aim: Yet another self-buff. This buff increases your to hit (Which is HUGE in DFO) and allows you to score more critical hits. By these buffs combined, you are top tier character!
- One Inch Punch: An extremely short range attack that does incredibly absurd damage.
- Lightning Dance: One of your only skills that excels in "gathering up" a room -- You throw out a kick and, depending on your gender, you do different things.
- Females: Teleport across the room to rapidly kick enemies at random! If there's only one or two enemies you simply go back and forth kicking them repeatedly.
- Males: You teleport around the room and kick each individual enemy (up to a certain number) to the center of the room where you charge up a more powerful finishing kick
- In general, Lightning Dance does wonders to hit enemies not immediately in front of you.
- Muscle Shift: This is a temporary buff which allows you to cancel your special attacks into other special attacks. Each time you cancel an attack, the subsequent attack gets STRONGER. This is how you deal an absolute shitload amount of damage. You build up your already hard-hitting techniques into an ultimate finisher. It takes some getting used to, but it's deadly once you figure it out.
- Strengths: Almost unrivaled damage output and speed. Incredible self-buffs.
- Weaknesses: Piss-poor ways to chase down enemies. Very short range.
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>Brawler [Heavy Armor] [Weapon Type: Claws, Tonfa]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- >Brawlers are the crowd-control subclass of the fighters. They utilize ridiculous techniques to disable their enemies, such as smashing a brick over their head, throwing trashcans at them, rubbing sand in their eyes, or even a fishing net. They bolster their allies through disabling their enemies and make any difficult fight significantly more easy. They can inflict almost every status effect in the game, and are incredibly reliable when it comes to flat out stunning an enemy. Their technique is odd, but effective.
- ~~~Skill Highlights~~~
- Brick Buster: A close ranged skill attack wherein the brawler slams a brick on an enemies face. The damage isn't incredible, but it stuns the target and any surrounding enemies. This is a very quick skill that is awesome to interrupt special attacks.
- Mount: Pin an enemy to the ground with your knees and begin pummeling them with your melee weapons. You are completely invulnerable during this phase, and you strike the enemy for a ludicrous amount of times. You can only use this on enemies on the ground, and only the final hit of the attack animation strikes in an aoe but...
- >>>> Raging Vulcan: The upgraded form of Mount. With this skill, which replaces mount, you can force an enemy onto the ground and begin the punch cycle even if they are standing up (So long as they are suffering from a status effect). Furthermore, every punch you throw hits in an AOE and you deal more damage for each status effect they are suffering from. You are still invulnerable. However, this skill can't be used against enemies that are immune to throws.
- Heaven's Net: Cast out a pyramid-shaped net to pull any enemies caught within it directly in front of you, stacked on top of each other. They are immediately immobilized and even more so when you follow up with a brick. This attack has great range and a very good hitbox -- you can easily drag most of the room directly to you. The best part about heavens net is that any damage the snared opponents take is multiplied by a certain amount (upwards for 40%). So, whenever you or an ally attacks a snared target, they will take 40% more damage. This is easily the best skill in the Brawlers arsenal of skills.
- Junk Spin (Female only): Twirl around in place tossing out random objects to inflict poison and physical damage on enemies. I THINK you are invulnerable during this state. Regardless, this long-lasting attack pretty much gurantees a stun on whoever it hits, but it's damage is lacking.
- Strengths: Incredible crowd control with a unique playstyle. Decent survivability. My favorite class.
- Weaknesses: Damage is OK, but nothing special. Very skill-point intensive class.
