  1. Sep 14 21:58:18 <FakemixRed> Walking through the classroom halls, a teacher is carrying a large stack of textbook, obviously struggling with the weight. They're for highschool history classes, and they obscure the top half of her body, while the bottom is wearing a long black skirt. Her stature is fairly tall, above 5'8.
  2. Sep 14 22:01:30 <Knave> "Hey." Austin sees the figure as he comes to a corner and skates up to it, "Need a hand with those? Because I have two that aren't doing anything right now."
  3. Sep 14 22:04:13 <FakemixRed> The woman speaks, she has a very mature sounding voice, though it's brimming with livelihood. "Oh thank you, the students are so polite here." she says handing half the stack to him. Something Austin will notice right away is that instead of hair, atop her head is a crap ton of stringy red snakes, all writhing around and some look at him. And her eyes are covered with a purple face mask, she looks to be in
  4. Sep 14 22:04:13 <FakemixRed> her thirties, despite the voice.
  5. Sep 14 22:06:45 <Knave> Austin's eyes widen some at the snakes, but he's polite enough not to mention it as he takes the books, resting them on his chest as he leans back, "Not a problem. If you can't take the time out to help a woman in need, then what good are you, that's what I always say." Austin chuckles weakly, hefting the weight in his skinny frame, "So where are we taking these bad boys?"
  6. Sep 14 22:09:31 <FakemixRed> "My classroom is on the next floor up, I look forward to teaching the all of you, American History is a real joy that more children should know about." She says leading the way, quite sure that she won't bump into anything despite being blong

  9. Sep 14 22:11:28 <Knave> Austin follows, jabbering so that he doesn't start complaining about the weight, "American History, huh? Fightings redcoats, founding fathers, civil rights movement, all that jazz?" After a moment, Austin adds, "Jazz."
  10. Sep 14 22:12:39 <FakemixRed> "Ah but the stories you'll hear, especially since you get one of the best primary sources around." She says chipperly as they make their way down the hall
  11. Sep 14 22:15:34 <Knave> "Yeah?" Austin responds with slight interest, "What source is that, then?" He asks over the stack of books.
  12. Sep 14 22:16:25 * Roosevelt has quit (Quit: I will get to logging that one thing. One of these days.)
  13. Sep 14 22:16:41 <FakemixRed> "Well it can't be as someone as youthful as me, you'll just need to take the class." She chides
  14. Sep 14 22:19:07 <Knave> "I'll see if I can fit it into my jam-packed schedule." Austin says, thinking of all the responsibilities he needs to attend to tomorrow. After his walk in the forest he has to eat breakfast, then chill in the gazebo, then eat lunch, then practise ukulele on the roof, and after that, what with dinner and hanging out, how can he be expected to find time for classes?
  15. Sep 14 22:22:08 <FakemixRed> "Well it's good that you're so studious." She says with a smile as she starts ascending up the stairs. "What subjects are you interested in? Will you be going to college? Boy was it hard to get my teaching degree." She laughs
  16. Sep 14 22:24:12 <Knave> "I can imagine, what with the mask and everything." Austing jokes, then clears his throat softly, "I mostly think of myself as a student of people. You know. Philosophy. Sociology. Psychology. Popular culture." Austin struggles for more ways to say he's a lazy bum while sounding smart, "The arts..."
  17. Sep 14 22:26:16 <FakemixRed> "Oh yes, if you were to see my eyes you would turn to stone." She says casually as some of the snakes hiss and continue their writhing
  18. Sep 14 22:29:05 <Knave> Austin shrugs slightly, weighed down by the books, "I kinda figured, what with the hairdo and all. Not to pry but, the snakes and the eyes, that'd make you a gorgon, yeah?"
  19. Sep 14 22:30:42 <FakemixRed> She nods "I am quite proud of my origins, don't be afraid to ask, I'm an immigrant seeking new oppurtunities, the American dream no?"
  20. Sep 14 22:33:23 <Knave> "The American Dream." Austin nods, "I'd salute, but, you know," he lifts the books he's carrying up an inch for a moment, "I only hesitate because some of the students are a little touchy about their own superp- anomalies. Anomalousness." Austin corrects himself twice.

  23. Sep 14 22:35:40 <FakemixRed> The woman gives a bitter smile "I do not blame them, it's a hard life for those of us that have been either cursed or blessed with these things. I hope that the future is not a repeat of this country's horrendous history."
  24. Sep 14 22:36:45 <Knave> "Well, you know what they say." Austin grins, "Those who flunk History are doomed to repeat it over the summer."
  25. Sep 14 22:39:37 <FakemixRed> Eventually they reach a classroom, which she opens "You can set these on the book shelf over there, though those that fail my class will have a ~lovely~ time." You could swear even the hair snakes had a sinister look as she said that as she feeling the edge of the bookshelf, before filling it with the textbooks
  26. Sep 14 22:40:47 <Knave> Austin dumps the books on a nearby table and begins filling the shelf from the stack, "Why's that?" He asks innocently.
  27. Sep 14 22:43:56 <FakemixRed> "I will make sure my students work extra hard in remedial class, and since there will be more time to focus on them individually, it'll be fun."
  28. Sep 14 22:45:25 <Knave> "You sound like a good teacher." Austin says genuinely, with the kind of appraisal that can only be given by one who refuses to learn.
  29. Sep 14 22:46:49 <FakemixRed> "Well this is the only job that would let someone like me work, most public schools simply scream when a gorgon approaches an office."
  30. Sep 14 22:48:57 <Knave> "Well, not to pull a Senator Kelly," Austin rubs the back of his neck, "But you could have hidden it, right? Like, wear a big hat?" Austin realizes how dumb it sounds as he says it, "Never mind." He extends his right hand, "Welcome to Sunnybrook, Miss..?"
  31. Sep 14 22:51:40 <FakemixRed> She finishes up her stack "I am Ms. De Luca, and you are?" She gives the small smile at the thought of how long it'd take for her hair to revolt if she wore a hat everyday
  32. Sep 14 22:54:40 <Knave> "Austin Silver, ma'am." He beams, "Sultan of Slide, Foxer of Foxes, Bravo-in-Training, and all-around extra pair of hands."
  33. Sep 14 22:56:33 <FakemixRed> Some of the snakes bite at Austin's direction "Well then Austin, thank you for your help, though I don't reccomend a carreer in the military so young."
  34. Sep 14 22:57:46 <Knave> With grim humour, he responds, dragging his hand back through his hair, "Then I'm not sure how well you'll get along with some of the rest of the staff..."
  35. Sep 14 22:58:03 <FakemixRed> '
  36. Sep 14 22:58:35 <FakemixRed> "i'm well aware of the militaristic tendencies within this school, however you are a student first and foremost in my mind."
  37. Sep 14 22:59:42 <Knave> "I appreciate that, Miss De Luca." Austin puts his hands in his pockets, "Nothing else you need help with?"
  38. Sep 14 23:03:58 <FakemixRed> "No there is not much else I need help with, though if you do not mind to tell me, what is your thoughts on the school?"
  39. Sep 14 23:06:27 <Knave> "If you mean the school the structure, it's serviceable, comfortable. Pretty, in places. If you mean the students, I find that most all the ones I've met have been good-intentioned and kind-hearted. If you mean the organization, I don't think they give a damn about us, but maybe we can do some good together." Austin folds his arms and shrugs as he leans on the doorway, "But I'm new and naive, so take my
  40. Sep 14 23:06:27 <Knave> evaluation with a pinch of salt."
  41. Sep 14 23:08:10 <FakemixRed> That makes the teacher quite annoyed "The thing that irks me most about a school like this is that lesson plans are an utter nightmare since you can't depend on a student being here a full year. Though I should talk to the organization to have them be more accomodating to their students."
  42. Sep 14 23:09:51 <Knave> "Fight the good fight, Miss De Luca." Austin puts up a fist in solidarity, "I'll see you in American History."
  43. Sep 14 23:10:33 <FakemixRed> She tilts her head, though pleased "I thought your schedule was much too jam packed for this class mister Sultan."
  44. Sep 14 23:13:48 <Knave> "I like you, Miss, and I think I can work something out if I cut into my musical studies." With a good-smile, he continues, "And I can always stand to learn more about this great nation and its history."
  45. Sep 14 23:15:30 <FakemixRed> "Oh yes, it's quite a cesspool of death, misery, racism, and raging hypocrisy, but it's worth it to find the gold nuggets of good this nation can bring."
  46. Sep 14 23:16:48 <Knave> "Catch you later, Miss." Austin salutes.
  47. Sep 14 23:19:42 <FakemixRed> The teacher doesn't react to the salute, probably because she didn't see it "goodbye, see you in class." she says with a wave
  48. Sep 14 23:21:12 <Knave> Placing a hand over his heart, Austin about-faces in the doorway, "O beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain," He begins to sing through a grin, badly and much too loudly as he walks out and down the corridor, "For purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain!"
