  1. Name: Paradise Dahlia (PD)
  2.
  3. Gender: Female
  4.
  5. Race: Unicorn
  6.
  7. Class: Alchemist
  8.
  9. Skills:
  10. Unicorn Catalyst: passive; a unicorn’s horn counts as a catalyst for spellcasting.
  11. Unicorn Telekinesis: spell; manipulate objects through sheer force of will. Complex tasks and heavier objects may require more focus.
  12. Posh: So you’re leaving high society for a life of adventure? It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this. You can start the game with a magical item that gives a +1 to a single Spell. If held by someone without that skill, the item’s residual magic allows that spell to be cast at DC 8.
  13. Revolving Drum: passive; When you critically hit, your next spell is Instant.
  14. Alchemist Fire: recharge 1, spell, ranged; Concoct a flame that produces virulent smoke and can latch onto anything, even water. In addition to damage it gives +1 to skills against that target for the next turn. (+1 from Posh)
  15. Spellbound Alchemizing: automatic, spell; Create a potion bound with any one point spell from any class. You may have up to three potions at a time. Casting the spell consumes the potion.
  16.
  17. Special Talent: Unstable Concoction: spell, recharge 2; PD hastily brews an experimental potion and lobs it at her target. On impact it only deals 1 hit of damage, or 2 on a crit; however, on success, PD rolls an additional 1d6 to determine the potion's effect:
  18.
  19. 1: Dud: No effect whatsoever.
  20. 2: Corruption: The target is weakened by reactive toxins, having -3 to its next roll.
  21. 3: Miasma: The target is poisoned by a slow-burning substance, taking 2 hits of damage for 3 rounds.
  22. 4: Flashbang: The target is blinded momentarily, being forced to pass its next turn.
  23. 5: Sear: The target is set alight with alchemical flame, taking 4 points of damage with the Elementalist: Fire tag.
  24. 6: Frenzy: The target becomes disoriented momentarily. The DC for it to hit a target goes up by 2 for 2 rounds, at the expense of also dealing 2 extra hits for the effect's duration.
  25.
  26. Some enemies may be resistant or immune to the concoctions' effects, at the DM's discretion.
  27.
  28. Trained Talent: The Cure: PD is a highly skilled doctor as well as an alchemist, having knowledge of all manner of diseases and illnesses. She can roll to diagnose and cure such ailments, although critical failure may have unpredictable consequences. Rarer illnesses may be more difficult to treat, while magical afflictions such as curses are beyond her skill to heal.

  55.
  56. Background:
  57. Paradise Dahlia, or PD as she prefers to be called, is an alchemist traveling for the thrill of adventure and the pursuit of knowledge. She started off as an accomplished doctor and academic at the medical school of a prestigious university, but her natural curiosity led her to carry out some highly questionable experiments in the name of science; namely, she began trying to develop a formula to reanimate the dead without turning to direct necromancy. As her experiments were mostly fruitless, she surmised that her test subjects just weren't fresh enough, and so turned to digging up fresh graves to perform her experiments. Just when she was on the cusp of a major breakthrough, however, she was discovered by her peers, who stripped PD of her official doctor's title and expelled her. Outcast and resentful towards the university, she took to adventuring in hopes of being able to complete her research and prove herself to her former peers.
  58.
  59. Personality and Traits:
  60. PD is a free-spirited mare, keeping her sordid past to herself as she travels with fellow adventurers. While she can seem somewhat awkward and obtuse at times, she is generally upbeat and friendly, always willing to help out her allies with her considerable alchemical prowess. While not arrogant, she is very proud of her status as a doctor (which was long revoked by the university). She doesn't much like her full name, as it is long and difficult for some to pronounce, so she usually goes by her initials only. She is neither strong nor particularly fast in combat, but makes up for this with her many potions which she can use to support her team. If it comes to it, she can use her doctor's cane, normally used for examining patients, as an impromptu weapon to fend off would-be attackers. A scientist at heart, PD is naturally inquisitive, poking and prodding at things to see what makes them tick and approaching problems from a rational and analytical standpoint. She has a rather morbid fixation with the dead, having no qualms with looting a body and harvesting them for alchemical ingredients or even attempting to resurrect them for her own purposes. Ultimately, she wishes to learn how to fully resurrect someone from beyond the grave, and not just to reanimate a corpse.
