Backstory: Kyle is a victim of many timeline changes. He hails from a
future that many people are actively trying to change, every single
day of their lives. You see, when he was a child, something called
SkyNet tried to take over the world. Not only that, but it succeeded.
Man against Machine, the machine nuked all the humans and won the war.
What war? The only war that it could fight.

SkyNet is not emotional - it decided humans were a travesty not by
feelings but by calculating logic. Depending on the future you look
at, Kyle may be the second in command of the resistance, the leader,
or an important soldier. He does not operate by calculating logic. In
fact, sometimes his emotions are so strong that they can jeopardize
his life. A good example is that when he was a child, his brother
Derek shot and killed a deer for them to eat. Kyle cried so hard that
instead of eating, Derek buried the deer and gave it a funeral.

He's learned to fight since then, but he still hasn't given up those
emotions. His trip into the past, chasing on the tail of a Terminator,
was fueled a great deal by his wanting to meet Sarah Connor. Through
an old photo of Sarah that John had given him, Kyle had fallen in love
with her. He had no idea that he would end up John's father. Kyle and
Sarah had under 24 hours together, but they "loved enough for a
lifetime". Kyle died protecting her, and Sarah went on to give birth
to his son.

Kyle fought his entire life to protect everything he loved, and he let
many things into his heart. He will do the same in the bar. Maybe one
day he will even fight for himself, and through Milliways, he can live
again.
