  1. [02:57] * frozenFire has started messaging visceralVanguard
  2. [02:57] <frozenFire> Um, sorry about whatever happened however long ago.
  3. [02:57] <frozenFire> Let's just sah I won't be touching those things any time soon.
  4. [02:57] <frozenFire> Say*
  5. [02:57] <frozenFire> Bluh this phone's interface is annoying.
  6. [02:57] <frozenFire> Anyway I'm safe on Prospit, just have to figure out details.
  7. [02:57] <frozenFire> Not sure what about but I should be fine.
  8. [02:57] <frozenFire> How"re you doing?
  9. [02:57] <@visceralVanguard> Hello, Tarane.
  10. [02:58] <@visceralVanguard> You needn't bother about any of what you said while you were under the effects of that anesthetic!
  11. [02:58] <@visceralVanguard> There was no harm done and I must admit it was rather enjoyable. :)
  12. [02:58] <frozenFire> RE you sure?
  13. [02:58] <@visceralVanguard> Quite sure.
  14. [02:58] <frozenFire> O don"t even rememenmer what I said
  15. [02:58] <frozenFire> I*
  16. [02:58] <frozenFire> Remember*
  17. [02:59] <frozenFire> Stupid. I phones.
  18. [03:00] <frozenFire> Anyways. How have you been?
  19. [03:01] <@visceralVanguard> I can assure you that even if you could remember what you said, it would be of no consequence.
  20. [03:02] <@visceralVanguard> It is not as though you said anything particularly embarrassing or offensive, you simply had lower inhibitions than normal and were a bit more talkative. :)
  21. [03:02] <@visceralVanguard> I must say I have quite enjoyed having some time to myself to actually attempt to accomplish something.
  22. [03:02] <@visceralVanguard> I have dabbled in alchemy, as well as gone exploring. I have found a number of interesting features, but I am nowhere near done investigating.
  23. [03:03] <frozenFire> Cool
  24. [03:03] <frozenFire> Madr anything useful?
  25. [03:04] <@visceralVanguard> I have yet to decide that for sure.
  26. [03:04] <@visceralVanguard> I did make a new crossbow that cost almost every last bit of my grist, but it seems to be substantially less useful than I was hoping
  27. [03:04] <frozenFire> Hmm
  28. [03:05] <frozenFire> What did you make ot out of?
  29. [03:05] <@visceralVanguard> It seems to do a slight bit more damage to targets than my previous weapon, but it seems to have lost all other unique functions so it is a net loss I would say for the amount of grist it cost.
  30. [03:05] <frozenFire> Darn.
  31. [03:06] <frozenFire> Your using... crossbows, riggt?
  32. [03:06] <@visceralVanguard> I combined a green energy crystal with my previous crossbow, and it ended up costing a great deal more than both with almost less functionality than either.
  33. [03:06] <frozenFire> YOU"RE*
  34. [03:06] <frozenFire> So... relatively useless
  35. [03:06] <@visceralVanguard> It is a crossbow and that is mostly it.
  36. [03:07] <@visceralVanguard> It has a quite exotic physical appearance, but I have yet to notice anything beyond that.
  37. [03:07] <frozenFire> At least you have that :p
  38. [03:07] <frozenFire> How many times have you...
  39. [03:07] <frozenFire> "upgraded" your crossbow?
  40. [03:08] <@visceralVanguard> This would be the second layer of upgrades to my original crossbow.
  41. [03:08] <@visceralVanguard> But I am hesitant to call this particular modification an upgrade, despite the steep increase in grist costs.
  42. [03:08] <frozenFire> Better than me
  43. [03:09] <frozenFire> I just got my second.
  44. [03:09] <frozenFire> Have nt even tested it yet
  45. [03:10] <frozenFire> So things are... peaceful there?
  46. [03:11] <@visceralVanguard> Not particularly.
  47. [03:12] <@visceralVanguard> I was just assailed by a fire-breathing lizard, but I dispatched it quickly enough.
  48. [03:12] <frozenFire> Completely normal, of course
  49. [03:13] <frozenFire> Just casually going for a stroll (or a flight?) and am assaulted by a fiee breathing lizard.
  50. [03:13] <@visceralVanguard> I also found a Greco-Roman style statue of myself in disturbing detail. That was.... odd to say the least. I try not to think about it.
  51. [03:13] <@visceralVanguard> The lizard was one of the game construct monsters that drops grist, so I am entirely unsurprised that they spawn in a variety of places.
  52. [03:14] <frozenFire> That makes moar sense.
  53. [03:14] <frozenFire> A statue?
  54. [03:14] <frozenFire> That can't be the oddest thing you've seen
  55. [03:15] <@visceralVanguard> Yes, please do not inquire further though. I have no additional information to share on the matter as I am just as informed on the matter as you are now.
  56. [03:15] <@visceralVanguard> I have adopted a strategy of ignoring it for the time being.
  57. [03:15] <frozenFire> Okie
  58. [03:15] <@visceralVanguard> At the present, I am still exploring.
  59. [03:15] <@visceralVanguard> You said you are on Prospit, correct?
  60. [03:15] <frozenFire> Eeyup
  61. [03:16] <frozenFire> Would it kill the prospitanas to have less gold?
  62. [03:16] <@visceralVanguard> Considering their entire planet is made out of gold stone, it would seem rather difficult to have anything not gold.
  63. [03:17] <@visceralVanguard> If everything on your world is the same color, it becomes quite difficult to make anything any other colors.
  64. [03:17] <@visceralVanguard> Not to mention that they are probably quite used to it by now.
  65. [03:17] <frozenFire> ...eh
  66. [03:18] <@visceralVanguard> Have you encountered any hitches with the supposedly combined monarchical rule on Prospit?
  67. [03:18] <frozenFire> Not really
  68. [03:18] <frozenFire> Apart form... urgh... giving a speech
  69. [03:19] <@visceralVanguard> Why was that necessary?
  70. [03:19] <frozenFire> To renounce Derse, show that I'm an ally blah blah blah
  71. [03:19] <@visceralVanguard> Ah.
  72. [03:19] <@visceralVanguard> Did it go well?
  73. [03:20] <frozenFire> They were clapping and didn't try to kill me
  74. [03:20] <frozenFire> So... yes?
  75. [03:23] <@visceralVanguard> That is good to hear.
  76. [03:23] <@visceralVanguard> What are you doing now then?
  77. [03:23] <frozenFire> Talking to you
  78. [03:24] <frozenFire> And waiting on Lyra to respond
  79. [03:24] <@visceralVanguard> Well yes, I gathered as much that you were talking to me. :)
  80. [03:24] <@visceralVanguard> I mean outside of electronic communication.
  81. [03:25] <frozenFire> Sitting on a gold bed and doing nothing
  82. [03:25] <frozenFire> We're going to start talking about the "terms" of asylum or something like that
  83. [03:26] <@visceralVanguard> That sounds quite thoroughly boring.
  84. [03:26] <frozenFire> Yeap.
  85. [03:27] <frozenFire> Not like I can do anything else...
  86. [03:28] <@visceralVanguard> That is unfortunate. I do hope everything turns out well.
  87. [03:28] <frozenFire> Eh.
  88. [03:28] <@visceralVanguard> While there does seem to be a great deal of bureaucracy, it is a time of war and you are a prominent member of the society of the enemy.
  89. [03:29] <@visceralVanguard> I would be entirely surprised if this process is long and drawn out. It sounds like it already may be.
  90. [03:29] <frozenFire> Yeap.
  91. [03:30] <frozenFire> Bluh.
  92. [03:30] <frozenFire> Any idea what Lyra has been up to though?
  93. [03:31] <@visceralVanguard> Last I heard she was cave-delving with Alex. It seems as though their expedition to recover Alex's shield Brofessor alive has failed and he has instead perished.
  94. [03:31] <frozenFire> That's...
  95. [03:31] <frozenFire> Sad?
  96. [03:31] <frozenFire> I guess?
  97. [03:31] <@visceralVanguard> I am reasonably certain that his death can be attributed to Lyra blowing him up and sending a mountain of rocks on top of him, but please do not quote me on that.
  98. [03:32] <@visceralVanguard> Lyra is always quite adamant that things are not her fault.
  99. [03:33] <frozenFire> Ugh, yeah, I know
  100. [03:33] <frozenFire> It wasn't this bad before Sabath, but still...
  101. [03:34] <frozenFire> I dunno. I don't wanna stop her doing anything, because she'd probably rebel all the way
  102. [03:34] <frozenFire> Yet if she does her thing we're pretty much doomed.
  103. [03:34] <@visceralVanguard> I have not talked with either of the two of them for some time though, so I would appreciate hearing what they are up to. I cannot say I have missed the regular beratings on how stupid I am being having Abyss with me.
  104. [03:34] <@visceralVanguard> Lyra is one of those people you just cannot try and control.
  105. [03:35] <@visceralVanguard> Gentle nudges are likely the best option.
  106. [03:36] <frozenFire> Maybe
  107. [03:36] <frozenFire> Maybe we should let her do her thing
  108. [03:36] <@visceralVanguard> I think having her with Alex is a good thing for the time being.
  109. [03:36] <frozenFire> And all the doom is given to everything else by osmosis
  110. [03:36] <@visceralVanguard> He seems to be able to at least reign her in sometimes.
  111. [03:37] <@visceralVanguard> And at least it means I do not have to dedicate as much mental processing power to trying to keep an eye on her.
  112. [03:37] <@visceralVanguard> She seems genuinely interested in not hurting him, so that simply by nature of him being with her, limits some of what she can reasonably do.
  113. [03:38] <@visceralVanguard> We have already seen what she can do when she is alone and has little regard for her personal well-being.
  114. [03:39] <frozenFire> Abyss, right?
  115. [03:39] <frozenFire> Or am I thinking wrong
  116. [03:40] <@visceralVanguard> Take your pick of possible events I could be referencing.
  117. [03:41] <@visceralVanguard> I was not thinking of any one of them in particular.
  118. [03:42] <frozenFire> Alright I get your point
  119. [03:42] <frozenFire> They should be fine. Probably.
  120. [03:43] <@visceralVanguard> Probably.
  121. [03:43] <frozenFire> I mean, nothing's exploded yet
  122. [03:43] <@visceralVanguard> Other than Brofessor.
  123. [03:43] <frozenFire> And no news has reached us. Though I'm not sure whether that's good or bad.
  124. [03:43] <@visceralVanguard> And a sizeable portion of the cave system they are in.
  125. [03:43] <frozenFire> ...
  126. [03:43] <frozenFire> Sigh
  127. [03:44] <frozenFire> You going to try to retrieve their bodies and toss them onto conveniently located slabs later?
  128. [03:44] <@visceralVanguard> Hopefully that will not be necessary because they won't be dead.
  129. [03:44] <frozenFire> Never set a time for later
  130. [03:45] <frozenFire> Lyra's already... died once, and one of(/) her other selves is being tortured
  131. [03:45] <frozenFire> Byron was impaled by a dorito of all things
  132. [03:46] <frozenFire> Our group has some very bad luck.
  133. [03:46] <@visceralVanguard> If that is the case, then we must work around that.
  134. [03:47] <@visceralVanguard> I am using this break in drama to try and uncover a bit more about how this game actually works, as well as exploring and preparing for the drama and chaos inevitably pick up again
  135. [03:47] <frozenFire> Hope you have some lucky lighty entropic thing up your sleeves because I sure don't
  136. [03:47] <frozenFire> That sounds like a good idea
  137. [03:47] <@visceralVanguard> "lucky lighty entropic thing"?
  138. [03:47] <frozenFire> I would do the same here, but I don't have a mind for politics
  139. [03:47] <@visceralVanguard> That sounds precisely like something I do not have.
  140. [03:48] <frozenFire> Great! Awesome
  141. [03:48] <frozenFire> Looks like we're just going to have to slave through it then :P
  142. [03:48] <@visceralVanguard> I have a great deal of light on my land if you wish to have some for some reason however.
  143. [03:48] <@visceralVanguard> I fail to see how it will be of any use in our current situation, however.
  144. [03:49] <@visceralVanguard> Oh lovely, Byron is freaking out about something else now.
  145. [03:49] <@visceralVanguard> Have you heard from him recently?
  146. [03:49] <frozenFire> Nope
  147. [03:49] <frozenFire> He hasn't even tried to contact me
  148. [03:49] <@visceralVanguard> That is probably just as well.
  149. [03:50] <@visceralVanguard> He seems to be quite worked up as of late.
  150. [03:50] <frozenFire> What is it this time?
  151. [03:50] <@visceralVanguard> Hopefully nothing too terribly significant is the matter. I do not know what is the matter.
  152. [03:51] <@visceralVanguard> His all-caps yells are vague and unhelpful as per usual.
  153. [03:51] <frozenFire> I recommend microsoft word's "sentence case" ability
  154. [03:52] <@visceralVanguard> I enjoy seeing his text unadulterated because then it is easier for me to see when he is not using all-caps. I then know there is a slightly higher chance of him being reasonable at that moment.
  155. [03:52] <frozenFire> Makes sense
  156. [03:53] <frozenFire> Your analytical mind would see when and when not to try, to save effort.
  157. [03:53] <@visceralVanguard> Sadly, that is precisely the motivation behind that sentiment.
  158. [03:54] <frozenFire> I don't see any problem with that
  159. [03:54] <frozenFire> then again it's never been turned on me
  160. [03:55] <@visceralVanguard> I fail to see any reason why I would ever see it as beneficial to do so. You are without a doubt one of the most reasonable people here. :)
  161. [03:57] <frozenFire> Thanks :)
  162. [03:58] <frozenFire> But who knows? Maybe a sudden bout of insanity will strike me just like Lyra and Alex
  163. [03:58] <@visceralVanguard> :/
  164. [03:58] <@visceralVanguard> I sincerely hope not.
  165. [03:58] <@visceralVanguard> That would make me quite sad.
  166. [03:58] <@visceralVanguard> Trouble does seem to have a way of avoiding you though.
  167. [03:59] <@visceralVanguard> ((ba dum chhh))
  168. [03:59] <frozenFire> Just hope it lasts, really
  169. [03:59] <@visceralVanguard> Only time will tell.
  170. [04:00] <frozenFire> Shrug
  171. [04:00] <@visceralVanguard> Is there anything else you wanted to discuss? I fear what may happen should I delay my response to Byron too long.
  172. [04:01] <frozenFire> Hmm...
  173. [04:01] <frozenFire> Well, sort of.
  174. [04:01] <@visceralVanguard> What is it?
  175. [04:01] <frozenFire> What "magic" effects does your crossbow have?
  176. [04:01] <@visceralVanguard> Why do you ask?
  177. [04:02] <frozenFire> Just curious, for my own alchemising
  178. [04:02] <frozenFire> I've combined a "Queen of Serpents" card with my bow to produce some sort of obsidian bow, but I haven't tested it
  179. [04:02] <@visceralVanguard> It is capable of transmuting a hit substance into a different stable chemical compound.
  180. [04:02] <frozenFire> ...
  181. [04:02] <frozenFire> Huh
  182. [04:02] <@visceralVanguard> Only once every 5 to 10 minutes, however.
  183. [04:03] <frozenFire> How big is the area affected? I wouldn't think it would, I dunno
  184. [04:03] <frozenFire> Turn an entire planet to helium or something
  185. [04:03] <@visceralVanguard> Unusual effects like that seem to be quite a possibility in this game, so expect a possibility of your bow doing something surprising.
  186. [04:03] <@visceralVanguard> I have yet to test that.
  187. [04:03] <@visceralVanguard> Everything I have hit thus far has been small enough to be completely converted.
  188. [04:03] <frozenFire> I would suggest you don't try it on your planet
  189. [04:04] <frozenFire> Can't think of anything that'd hold, really
  190. [04:04] <frozenFire> Quartz? Maybe?
  191. [04:04] <frozenFire> Shrug
  192. [04:04] <frozenFire> Anyways, how did you make it?
  193. [04:05] <@visceralVanguard> I had a fancy periodic table I combined with my crossbow.
  194. [04:05] <@visceralVanguard> Part of it may be in part to the fact that I have tablekind as a strife specibus.
  195. [04:05] <frozenFire> Tablekind?
  196. [04:06] <frozenFire> I wouldn't have expected that
  197. [04:06] <frozenFire> Hmm. Alright.
  198. [04:07] <frozenFire> Do you have the code for it?
  199. [04:07] <frozenFire> I can't make it now, but I could try later
  200. [04:07] <@visceralVanguard> Not off of the top of my head. I am afraid I am.... rather occupied at the moment and am unable to decaptchalogue it.
  201. [04:07] <@visceralVanguard> I had a run in with that lizard and I am now thoroughly on fire.
  202. [04:07] <@visceralVanguard> I do not wish to decaptchalogue anything lest it catch on fire as well.
  203. [04:08] <frozenFire> Why haven't you extinguished yourself?!
  204. [04:08] <frozenFire> Or, for that matter, why are you not burnt to a crisp?!
  205. [04:09] <@visceralVanguard> That is quite the mystery isn't it!
  206. [04:09] <@visceralVanguard> For some reason all of this fire is entirely room temperature. Not hot in the slightest.
  207. [04:10] <@visceralVanguard> It is also lighting a great deal of things on fire that should by no means be flammable.
  208. [04:10] <@visceralVanguard> Including metal and rocks.
  209. [04:10] <frozenFire> I'd still prefer it if you managed to find a way to stop it
  210. [04:10] <frozenFire> Because who knows, maybe it'll decide "nope i'm going to burn stuff now"
  211. [04:10] <@visceralVanguard> I tried smothering some of it and that seemed to help somewhat.
  212. [04:11] <@visceralVanguard> It mostly just catches other things on fire that I try and use to smother it.
  213. [04:11] <frozenFire> Please tell me it doesn't set water on fire?
  214. [04:11] <@visceralVanguard> There is a pond here, but I am afraid to try that lest it set the lake on fire
  215. [04:11] <frozenFire> It doesn't sound like the lake is doing much
  216. [04:11] <frozenFire> So give it a try
  217. [04:11] <@visceralVanguard> There is a waterfall leaving the pond down into the darkness below, and who knows what is down there that should not be set ablaze
  218. [04:11] <frozenFire> Well, at least it'll be lit
  219. [04:12] <frozenFire> And anything down there would also be on fire
  220. [04:12] <@visceralVanguard> Lovely logic, Tarane.
  221. [04:12] <@visceralVanguard> It's okay to light your whole land on fire because at least you will be able to see it while it burns to the ground!
  222. [04:12] <frozenFire> Isn't your land inflammable?
  223. [04:13] <@visceralVanguard> This fire lights everything on fire, so that is a moot point.
  224. [04:13] <@visceralVanguard> I am inside a cave right now, and the rocks on the cave wall, floor, and ceiling are literally on fire right now.
  225. [04:13] <frozenFire> It isn't burning anything down
  226. [04:14] <@visceralVanguard> As you said though, who knows how long it will remain that way.
  227. [04:14] <frozenFire> I'm not sure whether to envy you or pity you
  228. [04:14] <@visceralVanguard> Likely both.
  229. [04:14] <frozenFire> You now effectively act like a giant flashlight now, enjoy it while you can I guess?
  230. [04:14] <@visceralVanguard> I suppose.
  231. [04:14] <@visceralVanguard> I should probably get to cleaning this mess up if I can.
  232. [04:15] <@visceralVanguard> I do not need to bother about catching whatever I use to smother the flames on fire because everything is already on fire.
  233. [04:15] <@visceralVanguard> Just so long as what is in my sylladex stays safely there.
  234. [04:15] <@visceralVanguard> I have several flammable and/or explosive items stored there.....
  235. [04:15] <frozenFire> Makes sense.
  236. [04:16] <frozenFire> I am just puzzled at this and yet slightly envious
  237. [04:16] <frozenFire> How far does it spread? Since you're in a cave, won't it spread elsewhere anyway?
  238. [04:16] <@visceralVanguard> I shall be sure to keep you posted, particularly if I suddenly begin burning to a crisp.
  239. [04:16] <@visceralVanguard> Hopefully that is not going to be the case.
  240. [04:17] <frozenFire> If you do start burning to a crisp, tell Byron or Lyra
  241. [04:17] <frozenFire> Because I can't do a thing. I'm groundbound.
  242. [04:17] <frozenFire> Oh, and Nick. Sorry, forgot about him for a second
  243. [04:18] <@visceralVanguard> Nick is currently asleep so he is on Prospit I believe, if nothing significant has changed.
  244. [04:18] <frozenFire> Is he awake, or is he on prospit at the moment?
  245. [04:19] <frozenFire> I would ask you to tell him to search for where I am, but that'd be a waste of time
  246. [04:20] <@visceralVanguard> From the sounds of it, it seems like he also has his hands full.
  247. [04:20] <@visceralVanguard> Last time he was on Prospit, he was rudely awakened to his real self by being knocked out over the head.
  248. [04:20] <@visceralVanguard> I hope he is okay.
  249. [04:20] <@visceralVanguard> I have yet to hear from him.
  250. [04:20] <frozenFire> Ouch
  251. [04:20] <frozenFire> What happened there?
  252. [04:21] <@visceralVanguard> No idea.
  253. [04:21] <@visceralVanguard> Neither does he.
  254. [04:21] <frozenFire> Huh
  255. [04:21] <frozenFire> I should bring a helmet everywhere once I'm settled
  256. [04:22] <frozenFire> He should be fine, probably just forgetting how technology works for a bit. Dreamselves are funny like that.
  257. [04:22] <@visceralVanguard> Indeed.
  258. [04:22] <@visceralVanguard> I can personally attest to the fact that dreamselves are funny.
  259. [04:22] <frozenFire> I should probably stop taking up your time and leave you to your fire. And Byron.
  260. [04:23] <@visceralVanguard> Yes, Byron, I should probably deal with him.
  261. [04:23] <@visceralVanguard> After I manage to extinguish this fire.
  262. [04:23] <@visceralVanguard> Thank you for contacting me!
  263. [04:23] <@visceralVanguard> As always, it has been a pleasure talking with you. Please do keep me posted. I shall do the same.
  264. [04:23] <frozenFire> Try flying up in the air. Heard low atmosphere was bad for fire. Or something like that.
  265. [04:23] <frozenFire> You're welcome, I guess. I'll try to stay in contact.
  266. [04:24] <@visceralVanguard> Byron was able to fly from Skaia to his land without suffocating so I am not sure there is a lack of air anywhere here.
  267. [04:24] <@visceralVanguard> Thank you.
  268. [04:24] <@visceralVanguard> Best of luck in your Prospit endeavors.
  269. [04:24] <frozenFire> I think you'd need the luck more :P
  270. [04:24] <@visceralVanguard> If necessary, you can tell the Prospitian officials to contact me if you need a reference.
  271. [04:25] <frozenFire> I will. Might not be the same Prospit as yours though
  272. [04:25] <@visceralVanguard> Indeed.
  273. [04:26] <@visceralVanguard> Farewell then, Tarane!
  274. [04:26] <frozenFire> Bye Faerzen
  275. [04:26] * frozenFire has ceased messaging visceralVanguard
