  39. Backstory:
  40. The kid was raised in a shack on the countryside, brought up as a hunter by his dad.
  41. Father of the kid is a former, retired human adventurer. He has moved there because he wanted to disappear, and to provide company for his wife.
  42. His mother is a tiefling warlock. She dabbled in her blood magic a bit too far, and one day, the father and son have returned from the hunt to find nothing but cinder, with no smoke to be seen from afar.
  43. The father has explained to the child that his mother was probably taken by the ancestral fiend, reconsidered his parenting choices, and took him to the civlisation, teaching him the sword along the way. Then he left him in a monastery schola, and went away, apparently to seek out the fiend himself.
  44. The nuns were, to be frank, kind of scared of the demon kid that wanted to know everyhting about demons. The money eventually ran out, and his father never came back, but the kid was lucky to soon find a job as a scout for a mercenary company, thus starting his journey.
  45. He has since been bouncing between such odd jobs as someone's muscle, and his own research, his looks becoming slightly haunted in the obsession. A powerful priest could tell him what his precise heritage is, but such services aren't cheap. Perhaps he could beat the knowledge out of another fiend - as it turned out, the mortal world also has some of the filth.
