  1. I'm 20 years old, and I come from /v/. I love video games more than anything, they're my life. Video games raised me, I spend frankly unhealthy amounts of time on video games weekly. That being said, video games are being poisoned, by the very people in charge of helping them succeed.

  3. Watching the decline of video games to me has been like watching your mother decline into drug abuse and horrible addiction. What started off as slightly shady dealings and events that seem not quite right has escalated into fully blown industry cancer. Watching majority of the game news become less about video games and more about how much of a shit person I am for having this hobby, and how entitled I am has been ruinous. Kotaku turns into Jezabel, and Polygon, IGN, Gamespot and all the rest turn into Kotaku in order to create more clicks and get money. Selling out their own industry in order to give themselves more status. It's utter filth. I don't give a fuck if the main character is white, black, purple, male female, otherkin whatever the fuck you want. I just want to play video games and have fun. I want the game aspect of a video game to be more important that the "social message is creates". I want developers to stop being harassed by the media for not having women as playable characters. I want everyone to stop bitching about how there's no women in development for video games. Stuff like Anita Sarkeesian complaining about the lack of female developers, when she herself would rather complain about video games than make them.

  5. Learning about the Zoe Quinn drama has legitimately given me hop for the industry. The backlash here shows that the fury over what the video game industry has become is not only confined to /v/, but also shared by many others. It's refreshing to see a huge group of gaming personalities unite with fellow gamers to try and create a better future for this industry. I want to be able to go to polygon or Kotaku and not see articles lambasting me for being a white male who enjoys my hobby, or articles praising 4 games that week as 10/10 masterpieces.

  7. I used to buy PC Powerplay magazines, because I liked the writers, and it helped me keep up to date with all the latest news and games. But slowly, the average score for the games started to go up, and I caught myself thinking that a 6 or 7 makes for a game not worth playing. That doesn't seem right, does it? Upon the 10/10 I saw Dragon Age 2 get, I quit. That point in time made me the cynical bastard I am to day with all things to do with gaming journalism.

  9. All I want to do is play video games, and not have to second guess everything I read on gaming news. Is that too much to ask?
