The Story So Far: Shikinami, the destroyer who has trouble being honest with herself, is worried that she can't cheer on her sister ship Ayanami, who has just been assigned an important mission. At the same time, while cleaning up, she finds an unfamiliar instrument and an old film. On that film she witnessed her first performance by a jazz band, with that instrument, the "alto sax". Shikinami, moved by the sound of the music, decides to try her hand at the alto sax...

[Knock]
Shikinami: Ayanami...?

Shiki: ... oh, she's asleep.

Chapter 2
Starting with the first step...!

Shikinami - Second of the Ayanami-class destroyers, and the main character of this series. She's a good girl at heart but has trouble being honest with herself. She has an interest in the alto sax she found in the warehouse.
Ayanami - First of the Ayanami-class destroyers and Shikinami's older sister. She's a very compassionate oldest sister to Shikinami and her other sisters. Her ability is highly valued, and she has been assigned an important role.
Ooyodo & Akashi: First of the Ooyodo-class light cruisers and an Akashi-class repair ship. Support Shikinami, since they dabbled with jazz in the past.

Several Days Later

[Puff puff]
Akashi: Ohh!
You sure are practicing hard with lil Embouchure-chan!
Getting some pretty strong notes now.

Akashi: That's really good for just a few days!
Shiki: T-That's cause
you two were so insistent about telling me what not to do,
I felt I had to get it right...

and practice...)
Akashi: Well, still!

Akashi: It's actually pretty tough to get the movements right!
