  1. Ropes came down from the trees and wrapped around the appendages of the Kaor's corpse. Water dripped from it as the ice that had preserved the body began to melt and fade away. No one had wanted his boon, the profit of war, and so he did what he could to make use out of it.
  2.
  3. The head had already been severed, and it rested against the base of a nearby tree. There was blood on the ground, but there wasn't much--it trickled out slowly and with some difficulty, the cold making it move more slowly.
  4.
  5. He held a rusted blade in his hand and he ran the edge through the thick skin, struggling to get it to give as he began to skin the beast. He didn't knwo what he would do with the skin, only that he would take it and that it would be his. He moved slowly and methodically--he had done this before, for he had lived on a farm before this.
  6.
  7. Nuriel hummed happily to himself as he worked. His eyes were wide and his entire expression was fraught with amusement. He looked as happy as anyone could be as he worked.
  8. (Nuriel Melym)
  9. A girl would approach the site of which a Kaor was being skinned, her face was set with a dour mood, one she was most likely in because she had been here before and only forced to fight for other's amusement, she hated fighting because it wasted -her- time and she held that at a high value because of the purpose she was looking for a majority of the time, however, when watching the skinning of the beast, she leaned against a nearby tree and thought of what to say.
  10.
  11. "A slayer of demons, Oh Knave of Hearts!" She said with a slight smile... Connecting two and two together the girl just spontaniously giggled at her revalation, however it didn't last long until she would hope to get the attention of this, slayer of yokai, but her voice was not entirely loud...
  12.
  13. "Hello, uhm... Knight of Hearts? Yes up there?! Could you help me find my purpose, I seem to have misplaced it..." A question she asked everyone, and everyone gave her a different idea of what was to be given, or needed by the girl... Her consistant behavior was more of a test of herself, regardless."
  14. (Jezebelle)
  15. Nuriel stopped what he was doing reluctantly. He looked over and found some girl. His amusement persisted, his happiness still resting on the surface, and he nodded his head. He took the end of the rusted sword and placed it in the ground, letting it jut out precariously as he took a step towards Jezebelle.
  16.
  17. "Your purpose, huh?" he asked with a cocksure smile. "Well, I can tell you what it is, easily."
  18.
  19. He nodded toward the demon that was half-way skinned, suspended helplessly there. He wished that it would come alive so that he may slay it again, but he knew that something like that would never happen.
  20.
  21. "It's to kill demons like this one," he said. "It's name was Alari'kus, and it was as evil as they come. I met in the last war, and it was there that I severed it's damned head from its shoulders. I'd do it again to, and I plan to, in the next battle, where I'll no doubt have to face another monster."
  22.
  23. He nodded his head.
  24.
  25. "I'm Nuriel," he said. "What's your name?"
  26. (Nuriel Melym)
  27. A blink was given as she was given another answer to the purpose of her... A nod was given it was clear this one knew how to deal with the demons, but she herself didn't know... "Hm... I have fought some of the smaller demons... I never really enjoyed fighting them or interracting..."
  28.
  29. She said with a nod... The man referred to as Nuriel would remain the Knave of Hearts in her eyes... It was clear as day to her, but she would indulge him with her name, which was clearly not out of place with the other names around. "I am Jezebelle..."
  30.
  31. She then held herself against the tree once more looking upon him closely, she didn't feel ultimately threatened by him, but both sides of the coin could both be very threatening... Thusly she did keep an eye on all walks of life.
  32.
  33. "So who do you fight for, oh Knight of Hearts?"
  34. (Jezebelle)
  35. He nodded his head, taking a step toward the water. He dipped his pale hands in them and let the blood roll off, being taken away by the water. He had never forgotten the girl, but there were more pressing things. He was a Custodian now, albeit he was very young, and there were some things that he had to take care of.
  36.
  37. Nuriel walked back toward the castle, stopping to lift his sword from the ground, the bloodied and rusted blade.
  38.
  39. "Come," he said. "I'll show you. There's a prisoner that needs to be taken care of."
  40.
  41. He placed the sword over his back and kept walking. He assumed that the girl would follow, but perhaps he assumed too much. He did not know what he would do with the prisoners, or even if they were his to make decisions with--but, if nothing else, he would face them, and in facing them he would make choices.
  42.
  43. "It won't take long."
  44. (Nuriel Melym)
  45. A nod was given while the girl followed wordlessly to the Knave of Hearts, her steps slow and light as she looked about, watching the goings ons of the cities, but she was acutely aware that this one before her was most probably an important soldier, but that wasn't to be certain.
  46.
  47. "Yes, yes... Preparing them for judgement?" She asked quietly, while walking about, however once she was to get there, there would be very little for her to do but watch, therefore, she carried a notebook wordlessly with her, something she could note her happenings and experiences in, hopefully she wasn't to be made a prisoner... that'd be bad.
  48.
  49. "I do so wonder who this prisoner is... Perhaps they are demon... Or a bad man..." She thought aloud, but then continued into the tower wordlessly, as such it was perfect.
  50. (Jezebelle)
  51.
  52. The boy descended into the darkness of the dungeon with his companion in tow. He stepped through the small opening and into the expansive chamber of darkness and pain, where no hope could exist. Nuriel's smile disappeared completely and there was no mistaking his intentions or his opinion. He wore it on his face, in his shoulders, and in his hands, a dismal aura that clung harshly to him.
  53.
  54. He approached the cell of one of the prisoners, one of the few--there were more, and they too would be taken care of, but for now it was Haleakala's turn. He looked into the darkness, expecting to find the massive man somewhere within or perhaps even close to the bars.
  55.
  56. "You fought against us in the last battle," he called out. "That's true, isn't it?"
  57.
  58. He said nothing else, offering those words to the cyclops, and only silence followed them.
  59. (Nuriel Melym)
  60. The first words in a handful of days echoed through the bars he sat behind. Head peaking up, the wooden footstool he sat on would squeak in horror as his bodyweight shifted on the thin legs. Leaning forward, one arm resting on his knee, a small flash of red light and a billow of smoke would drift into the air. There were few luxuries they allowed him, but his pipe had been one. Lucky for him, otherwise he'd be bored almost to death.
  61.
  62. Almost.
  63.
  64. "Aye, am did. Against Danarium." Though, that was quite obvious, his being behind bars. His battle with Jeanne had been intense, and the result had been his capture. It wasn't the first time he had been in a cage, and for some reason, he felt it wasn't going to be the last. "What of you? Am not seeing you there..." A unibrow would raise slightly, painting his feature in a deep red light of his pipe, the smallest of smiles playing on his face.
  65. (Haleakala)
  66. And thus as soon as the girl set eyes on the cyclops, her eyes widened and immediately moved beside Nalliel to get a better look, she would then give a gasp and whisper a name upon her lips, different and maddeningly silent. "Polyphemus" And with that, she would look past the bars and look straight into the single eye of the cyclops.
  67.
  68. "A cyclops!" She would exclaim having never really seen one, and thus the child went onto a tangent in which she walked to the bars and placed a hand on it. "I am Nobody... And you are?" She gave a thought and then nodded. Clearly this girl was having a good time, but once she realized why the cyclops was in there, she would fall dead silent and watch him carefully.
  69.
  70. "Pythus, Poly..." She stopped herself there, a nod being given... She read too much on account and it sort of made her run with the fantasy... Which was obviously detrimental...
  71. (Jezebelle)
  72. Nuriel's smile returned and he took a step forward, touching at the door to the cell. He laughed an amused laugh under his breath as he fidgeted with the lock. He had almost forgotten the audience member, though she was quiet--that was good, he wouldn't want any interruptions.
  73.
  74. "Well, that settles it, then," he said as the key turned. He slowly brought his eyes up, using his free hand to gather the rusted sword from his back. He sliced the air a few times, testing the sturdiness of the blade--it proved robust, as it always would.
  75.
  76. "I'll execute you here and now, and I'll save everyone the trouble," he said. "You're a monster for helping those people, and now you will pay for your crimes."
  77.
  78. He pulled the key back, and slowly, very slowly, he began to pull the door open.
  79. (Nuriel Melym)
  80.
  81. One, the guards would probably not let the squire into the cell with a known strong magi, let alone execute him but that mattered little as Jeanne would be making her way down into the dungeons herself to visit the clopse that she defeated in the sands, along with a handful of guards; one with no weapon just there to translate for her since Hal couldn't read and the only way she could communicate was writing for the moment.
  82.
  83. Blacken hues seemed to fade into the dark backdrop of the dungeon as her reverberating steps towards the cell to see Nuriel weapon drawn and about to open door to said prisoner's cell?
  84.
  85. {"What exactly are you doing Nuriel?"} Words of stone, large ones would appear to perhaps block entrance to the door of Haleakala's cell as she would stand there waiting, her face not amused; though it hardly held any emotion these days.
  86.
  87. She would briefly glance at the girl next to the Melym but she was more fixated at the one wielding the weapon right now, her hand slipped in a fold under her dress; one she commonly known to have a weapon under.... just in case.
  88.
  89. (Jeanne Warsong)
  90. "You can try, boy."
  91.
  92. His voice shook like a thunderclap against the cold stone of his cell. As Nuriel hands went to the door, the cyclops would stand, a slow puff of his pipe sending another stream of smoke into the air. Arms corded with muscles like steel stood out against his arms as he brought them to bare, fists like anvils swaying lightly at the ends of treetrunk arms. These fists had shattered armor, bent swords, have lain low many a being. Being threatened by some punk with white hair, after spending weeks in a dirty hole, did nothing for the mans mood.
  93.
  94. At the sight of Jeanne, however, and a handful of guards, he would stop, standing a handful of paces away from the doorframe. Massive arms would still be held at their sides as single silver eye watched like a cats, slowly as she entered. Briefly it would transfer to the small girl figure that traveled with the Melym- muttering under his breath. "Poly? Not want cracker..." before bouncing back to to the Warsong. To her, he gave the smallest respectful bow, a dip of the head and no less.
  95.
  96. "Should get bigger chair. It am too small." Haleakala would give the footstool he had been resting on the smallest of kicks, the tiny blow threatening to send it spinning acrossed his cell as he stood, equally prepared to knock Nuriel's teeth into his skull, as well as to answer Jeanne and her aides.
  97. (Haleakala)
  98. And thus the cavalry came a wordless woman with guards surrounding her, of course this girl was overwhelmed by what was happening at this point. The knave of hearts wanting to kill the giant cyclops, and the new woman being firm and giving very little away, but words, it was clear that one was bloodthirsty, much like the knave of hearts has been and the poor polyphemus was the alice of this story...
  99.
  100. She would look at Jeanne and a nod would be given she already knew what she was... "The queen of hearts... the red... Or perhaps the white queen here to save the day?" What she was saying was more odd than it was clear, and of course she was just brought here to witness something, of course and it wasn't that much to deal with. But with the cracker statement, she would give a giggle and a nod to the cyclops...
  101.
  102. "Why execute? Why off with his head? Polyphemus is alright, only when mad will he grind bones?" She would stay with her standing form looking upon the two outside hoping much that she wasn't to be dealt with in a bad way...
  103.
  104. "I am nobody, but even nobody sees right and wrong..."
  105. (Jezebelle)
  106. He let go of the cage before he opened it completely, turning to look at the unexpected visitor. He glanced down to his sword, and then to the cylops. He would have killed him, if he could have, and that would have been the end of their troubles. But instead he shook his head, pulling the door closed.
  107.
  108. Nuriel faced Jeanne for a moment, still holding a sword, but in a moment of clarity he slipped the blade back over his back where it belonged. There were still some drops of blood on it from where he had skinned the Yokai, and the rivulets danced along the steel before dripping on to the floor.
  109.
  110. "Fine," he said. "If you don't want him dead, then I won't kill him. He's dying before the next battle, though, whether you like it or not."
  111.
  112. He forgot about Jezebelle, taking a steps forward, back toward the door. He had no more business in the dungeons as far as he knew, now that the one person that had a real claim on Haleakala's fate had arrived.
  113.
  114. "You can't have mercy on these beasts," he said. "Because they don't respect it."
  115. (Nuriel Melym)
  116.
  117. This time the words she created were more directed to the translator next to her so that perhaps Haleakala could hear as well, the older guard voice speaking for Jeanne and the man would drown it out in a bit of a monotone. "Actually Daphne's orders before her disappearance presume death was to have Hal's eye removed and have him stoned by his own kin; but as she is gone it is up to Julliete and Serien on what to do with him"
  118.
  119. Jeanne would approach and her hand would raise and the attempt would be made to bring it down with a stinging slap across the face to the Melym. Though he can try to evade it and just as well if he did her message of the action in general still holds.
  120.
  121. "As I said it is Jullietes and Serien's choice, you are not in the position to choose who lives and who dies squire Melym." Perhaps the first time she had referred to him as so, but it made it more of a punch in the gut and she knew it.
  122.
  123. Her gaze would turn to Haleakala along with the words of the guard. "I respect you because of your past, this is why you get the same treatment as any other prisoner instead of being executed on the spot; though my respect can only do so much and if my sister or Serien chooses for your death I can't and will not prevent that."
  124.
  125. Words crafted from the stone would be presented to the two in front of the cell. {"Now Leave."}
  126. (Jeanne Warsong)
  127. Nuriel felt the hand come across his face and it stung. The same ringing and burning sensation came to him agian, powerfully, his flesh resisted the pain but it was not enough--it penetrated it, and soon his pale cheek became red and soon it would bruise again.
  128.
  129. He looked to the ground for a good moment, perhaps for a while longer, staring downward to avoid looking the woman in the eyes, but eventually he did lift his eyes. His face was stern, his mouth pulled into a tight frown, but he said nothing. He only nodded his head, taking a step past the woman and everyone else, heading toward the door once more.
  130.
  131. He could not bring himself to hate one of his few allies, the sister of his knight at that, and so he did not hate her--he looked back on himself, and realized that murder was perhaps not the best thing to do.
  132.
  133. Regardless, he disappeared soon, his appearance fading into the sound of his boots hitting the stairs.
  134. (Nuriel Melym)
  135. A blink was given and as such the girl made slow movements to the stairs so as to not bother the woman, Hands gripping on her clothing... She noted how cruel this place could be and the orders being given everything was much more than horrible given the circumstances... Why would these be good guys?
  136.
  137. It was the kingdom of hearts after all... But her final moment would be to turn around and look at the cyclops closely. "Perhaps at a later date, we could share some tea... If you aren't beheaded by the dreaded queen of hearts."
  138.
  139. A nod was given as she walked off if not interrupted and with that, she would ultimately exit, it was not a great moment, but she clearly had much to think about when viewing the conflict between Danarium and the east... And she saw enough to note how morally wrong Danarium is... So there goes one soldier for their fight.
  140. (Jezebelle)
