1. MLR Miniseries 1.2: Off-World
2.
3. >
exploration
day in Equestria
4. >it's the day before departure
5. >spending most of the day getting your stuff prepped, you flip through various rifles, wondering which one to bring
6. >you're ready, you decide to have a relaxing evening
7. >you don't really have anything better to do
8. >you walk down the street in high spirits
9. >almost skipping merrily to some music
10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXc19p1DumM
11. >Changeling waves hello
12. >this one found a job in the advertisement business
13. >he just changes into the company mascot and attracts customers
14. >he looks happy, you wave back, smiling
15. >you feel a lot better seeing them working things out and not killing you
16. >it makes your current project a lot more worthwhile; you wouldn’t really be full of zest in your undertaking to try to save their species if they were busy trying to crucify you
17. >it’s also nice to have hope for their species and a lasting coexistence with the p0ny race
18. >the sun is shining brightly, last moments of sunlight before Luna takes over
19. >but you've got your new hat
20. >it's got a wide brim, light earth colored
21. >a bit like a Stetson, but not shaped the same way
22. >your walk really clears your mind
23. >feeling ready for anything, you find your way back to your place and call it a night
24. >buzzing wakes you up
25. >today is exploration day!
26. >you meet up with Twilight and Rainbow
27. >Rainbow looks like she's going on a safari
28. >Twilight looks like she's going to an important lecture on obscure unicorn history
29. >you look like you're expecting to encounter a pissed off Mexican drugs and arms cartel
30. >Tan looks... Uhhh... Like his usual self
31. "Hello everyone. I have interesting, but favorable news. It seems the bio-kit we sent in three days ago has not detected any dangerous organisms or toxic compounds in the atmosphere. We should be safe for a short visit" says Tan
32. >Twilight looks at you
33. "Anon? Why are you armed to the teeth again? We're just going to look for what Tan needs to do his experiments, not fight a war"
34. >well you missed spending quality time with your Fort rifle
35. "Doesn't hurt to be prepared?" you answer
36. >Dash looks at Twilight
37. "And why are you dressed like you're going to the library? We're going exploring!"
38. >Twilight looks down a little
39. "Maybe the tie is a little much..."
40. >Tan's antennas flourish with color, but your translator setup doesn't really register anything
41. >you'll have to ask him about that
42. >it's not the first time that has happened
43. "Should we expect anything over there? How difficult is it to find the matter you're looking for?" you ask Tan
44. "I do not think there is hostile life on that world. I require an organic compound and a mineral that should be abundant, from my device's preliminary readings" he says
45. >should be okay, then
46. "We all ready to go?" you ask
47. "Awww yeah!" says Dash
48. "Sure am!" replies Twilight
49. "Yes" states Tan
50. >you look over at Tan
51. >you move your hand forward and in your best Picard voice, you say
52. "Engage"
53. >you've been on this world for four hours
54. >it's hot
55. >you miss your hat, this helmet isn't as comfortable
56. >you're sore
57. >scraping moss off a rock
58. "This isn't exploration!" whines Dash
59. "This isn't science!" cries Twilight
60. "I fucking hate moss" you groan
61. >Tan, on the other hand, is full of zest
62. >he seems to be skittering around, examining mossy rocks
63. >he's having a blast
64. "This one, Anon. Twilight Sparkle, please continue with your current specimen"
65. >you grumble
66. >this is going to be a long day
67. "I believe you have all collected a sufficient amount of the base organic compound I needed. Now we need to get a mineral that can be tracked by its distinct magnetic field that fluctuates rather precisely" says Tan
68. >it's about time
69. "I should be able to find that, actually" you say
70. >Tan turns to you
71. "Really? I was going to suspend a magnet and observe its movements to orient the mineral in relation to us" he says
72. >Twilight is perking up at the sound of science
73. >Dash isn't looking very enthusiastic
74. "I think I can feel the magnetic fields a bit more precisely..." you say
75. >turning on your implant, you get a feel for this planet's magnetism, the currents in Tan's translation gear and a strange pulsating pattern
76. "I think I got it. It's in that direction, can't tell how far, though" you reply
77. "Fascinating" says Tan
78. "We gonna explore now?" says Dash
79. >probably
80. >you all head in the direction you indicated
81. >the scenery changes quickly
82. >rocky formations replace the rather plain landscape you were all used to
83. >finally, no more fucking mossy pebbles in a sea of damp sand
84. "This is more like it!" says Dash
85. >the cliffs and reddish-colored rocks twist up from the ground, arcing in unnatural directions
86. "Tan, I'm wondering... If we bring a strange mineral from another reality back to ours, is there any chance that the slightly different physics on which that matter works on could mess with ours?"
87. >Tan is silent for a few seconds
88. "Probably not. We should be safe with the items I require, however. I have worked with trans-dimensional material like this before for genetic research. The mineral I require oscillates at exactly six point-
89. “Eight five gigahertz?” you finish, having glanced at the actual data your hand implant was picking up
90. >his antennas twitch
91. “Precisely” he replies
92. >good enough for you
93. "This is pretty exciting, I have to admit!" says Twilight
94. >she's finally shaking off the boredom from earlier today
95. >magic holding a parchment and quill, scribbling madly
96. >Dash is darting around, checking out the strange rock formations
97. >the field is getting stronger, you're all getting closer to the source
98. >as you all get closer, something begins to feel off
99. >like a slow wave
100. >it almost feels like the ground is moving
101. "Is anyone else feeling the ground moving?" asks Twilight
102. >Rainbow is fluttering around and raises an eyebrow
103. >she's not on the ground so it's probably difficult to feel this
104. "I'm feeling it too" you reply
105. "I believe it is this world's fundamental difference with ours. I did mention how our perception could be altered" answers Tan
106. >Twilight's quill goes crazy
107. "Oh how interesting!"
108. >Dash isn't really paying attention
109. "Look there!" she says
110. >Rainbow is pointing at a very distinct structure that's becoming visible as you move around another natural rocky sculpture
111. >this was odd
112. >definitely made by sentient creatures
113. >various pillars, angled precisely in the same direction
114. >they were all made from conical prisms, somehow interlocked
115. >beautiful
116. "Wow..." gasps Twilight
117. "Who do you think made all this?" you ask Tan
118. "These are amazing! It's like the Sapphire Stone statues from Daring Do, do you think they're booby-trapped?" asks Dash
119. >what's with her and booby-traps
120. >Tan stops and looks at you
121. "Nobody. This is the mineral formation I require"
122. >dude what
123. >you rub your temples
124. >the ground moving is making you feel a little funny
125. >strangely enough, you can't actually see it moving
126. "And why doesn't the ground look like it's moving when it feels like it is? You ask
127. >Tan pauses
128. "I do not know. In any case, we should gather a few samples of these mineral pillars" he replies
129. >you feel the pillars give off the pulsating magnetic field
130. >you also feel the ground pushing in waves, but through your implant
131. >it's like there's something in the ground with a strong magnetic field, matching the waves you're all feeling in the soil
132. "I agree, I think we should get the stuff and go..."
133. >Twilight looks sad to hear this
134. "Why? There's so much we can learn here, I want to study these mineral pillars" she protests
135. "I just have a bad feeling about this..." you reply
136. >Dash is floating around, looking concerned
137. "This place is pretty weird... Finding this thing was cool and all, but with the sun setting over there, all by itself... It's kinda giving me the creeps" says the cyan pegasus
138. >you start moving towards the pillar, magnetic fields getting strong enough for you to set your hand-implant to teslas instead of microteslas, even if you were used to the nanotesla range. Your implant was capable of picking up femtoteslas, but you never really set it to that sensitivity
139. >unless you were working with quantum tunneling, but it’s been a while since you’ve fiddled with an old touchscreen
140. "Come on, things are just getting weirder and I don't like it too much"
141. >these magnetic fields were very strong, you even felt metallic bits on your being lightly pulled on
142. >you move closer to the pillar, a good thirty yards from Tan and the p0nies
143. "But Anooo~n..." she whines back at you
144. >you grab one of the crystals and yank it out of the pillar formation
145. "Tan, is this enough?"
146. "Three more, please" he calls out
147. >you yank a couple more out, taking a spare
148. >you turn back, raising your voice
149. "Here, Sparks, I'm getting one just for you as a souven-
150. >light bends between you and Twilight
151. ir... What in all the fu-
152. >something seems to walk through the ground, just elevating from the soil
153. >the fourth mineral shard stops in mid-air, then drops to the ground
154. >you don't even have time to react
155. >the blob-like thing extends towards Twilight
156. "What is that thing?!" yells Rainbow
157. >it looks like a mass of transparent GAK
158. >it’s simply a blob of no defined shape that seems to be made of nothing, and only visible as light seems to bend when going through it
159. >all you can think right now is how they look like the light-bending shape the Predator makes
160. >however they don’t make any sounds, unlike the Predator
161. >your implant shorts right the fuck out
162. "Gah.. Fuck!" you exclaim
163. >it got hot in your hand before the overload failsafes even had time to kick in
164. >you remember something in the order of 30T and rising fast
165. >your left eye fritzes all to hell
166. "Son of a...."
167. >it shuts down, your other implants follow
168. >the safety reset fuses all disconnect
169. "Ahh! Anon! Dash!!! AAAAIIIIIIIIEEE..." yells Twilight
170. >you fall to a knee
171. >you're dizzy, your head is hot, all your implants are on emergency disconnect
172. >you can't see well
173. >Twilight is in danger
174. >that blob thing is hurting her somehow
175. >fucking ghost attack
176. >you're being pulled towards it
177. >your implants are being yanked on from an unseen force
178. >all the metal on you is suddenly being pulled towards that thing
179. >the electromagnetism could have been from them
180. >your implants zapping off, your shit being pulled towards this thing
181. >made sense
182. >your hearing cuts out
183. >you dig your heels into the ground, trying to move away
184. >you're half blind and completely deaf
185. >Twilight's mouth is moving, she looks like she's in a lot of pain
186. >your rifle is pointing towards the creature as you hang onto the pillar
187. >you feel metal zippers and buttons tug hard towards the thing
188. >your rifle isn't pointing because you're aiming it, but rather because it's taunt on the sling
189. >you haven't fired as you do not want your bullets to go through the blob and hit Twi
190. >Tan is being dragged towards the blob by his gear
191. >you spot more GAK-blobs seeping through from the ground around you all
192. >Dash is holding her hat, the damn rivets are being attracted towards the thing
193. >Dash yells and you make out something like "Someone do something!" by lipreading
194. >or "oh my gosh, sarsaparilla"
195. >probably the former
196. >Twilight slumps down, unconscious
197. >your hand is already on the grip
198. >you aim high on the blob, so you won't hit the fallen unicorn
199. >the rifle’s muzzle report makes a thumping feeling against your chest, completely silently to you
200. >a hole appears in the creature
201. >more like a hole appears in the distortion in the air where you assume the creature is
202. >Tan and you both tip over and hit the ground as the magnetic pull cuts out
203. >like when you're pulling a rope and it breaks
204. >you squeeze the trigger again, nothing happens
205. >you push the bullpup off your shoulder to examine the stoppage
206. >bolt closed
207. >either it didn’t strip a round or it didn’t eject the spent case
208. >clearin’ malfunction
209. >smack the bottom of the mag and rack the charging handle, ejecting the brass case
210. >fresh round feeds in properly
211. >short-stroke?
212. >you assume the magnetic field was strong enough to slow the BCG’s rearward movement enough to cause the stoppage
213. >now that the creature has let up…
214. >you fire again
215. >you start popping off rounds at the blobs
216. >you only now realize how much you fucking hated GAK and their retarded commercials
217. "Grab her, we gotta get out of here!" you bellow over the gunfire
218. >you feel the thumps of the muzzle blast in your chest, but you can't even hear your own words
219. >Tan leaps a good ten yards and gently scoops up the unconscious Twilight
220. >you speed reload and keep pumping rounds in the blobs
221. >your implants are off, Tan can't communicate but he can still hear and understand
222. "Run towards the rock formations" you yell
223. >it's so odd, not being able to hear your own words in the slightest
224. >you secure the rear, laying more fire on the blobs
225. >you hate not being able to see out one eye
226. >the blobs move slowly, and every round seems to stop them for a few seconds
227. >Tan isn't slowed one bit by Twilight's weight, he covers ground easily
228. >Dash is flying around him frantically
229. >she's yelling, but you don't know what about
230. >Tan can't reply
231. >you needed your implants and you needed them now
232. >normally, this would never happen
233. >but apparently the magnetic field of a magnitude like this was enough to require a reset of the mechanical safety fuses
234. >these things were on the order of "never needed unless weapon-level EMP has gone off"
235. >"fuse" was a bit of a simple term
236. >they also provided a system that dumped the overload safely before the wires melted and fried, and the principle on which it operated had rendered electro-magnetic pulse weapons more or less useless, but it was used in most important electronics due to the dangers of solar flare activity
237. >it was more insurance than anything
238. >did a good job saving your ass though
239. >in any case, they needed to be switched back manually
240. >the blobs get further away and you all keep moving through the sculpture-like rock formations
241. "Dash, is Twilight okay?" you say
242. >she turns around and says something, looking worried
243. "I can't hear anything, Dash, my ears are fucked... Just nod if she's alive..."
244. >she nods
245. >relief washes over you
246. "is she hurt?"
247. >she doesn't seem to know
248. >you needed your implants
249. >manual reset
250. >normally, there was a tool you'd press against the skin
251. >it was made for this kinda thing, it pulsed specifically at the safety's amplitude and shook it into a reset position
252. >you didn't have one
253. >you needed to reset it, and it was made so that it wouldn't be accidentally flicked off by anything outside the skin
254. >you’ve all been making good ground for a good twenty minutes
255. >you slow down, hiding against one of the cliff faces
256. >they should be far enough away now, they didn’t move very fast and you can’t feel the ground “waving” as it did before the things came from the earth
257. >nobody is saying anything, as far as you can see
258. >Dash is busy trying to find is Twilight is wounded in any way
259. >you take out a knife
260. >you can feel where the switch is under your skin
261. >they had installed yours above the knee on the inside of your leg
262. >you hold the sharp tip over the spot
263. >you need to stab pretty damn deep, then move the knife downwards
264. >you take a deep breath, unzipping, unclasping the suit leg and cutting a hole in your pants first
265. >you start breathing faster, as the knife hovers above your leg
266. >you need your implants more than anything in the world right now
267. >you feel a maniacal panic at how much you need those things
268. >Rainbow Dash looks over, just in time to see you fucking stabbing into your leg with an Ontario trench dagger
269. >you let out a completely silent but ear-shatteringly loud scream as you push down
270. >you're glad the knife is really, really sharp
271. >you hear a flat tone
272. >you're still yelling, having thrown the knife to the side and adopting the "oh shit oh shit this hurts so much" fetal position, pressing your hands against the nasty gash
273. >you hear more weird tones and buzzing as Rainbow runs over and starts yelling in your face
274. >as if coming up from underwater, your hearing turns on
275. "... STRIA DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?"
276. >you're still rocking a little, shaking off the sickness that accompanied that "cold-metal-slicing-flesh" feeling
277. "Sorry... Just... Ungg... My implants almost fried 'cause of those things..."
278. >Dash goes from upset confusion to complete "what the fuck" rage
279. >your hand is also booting back up, and you feel the wave-like currents
280. >they are weak, still far away
281. "JUST WHAT THE BUCK, ANON? TWI'S OVER THERE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH HER, THEN YOU STAB YOURSELF, I DON'T NEED TWO WOUNDED FRIENDS RIGHT NOW"
282. >she takes panicked breaths
283. "Had to... Reset switch was under the skin..." you gasp out over the fading pain
284. >Rainbow shakes her head
285. "Gimme a heads up, next time you need to cut yourself open, will you? Sorry I lost it... Everything was crazy for a few minutes..." she says, calming down
286. >fist/hoof bump
287. >and you’re back to being good bros with the Dash
288. >you get the distinct feeling that the blob things are approaching, even if they aren't moving that fast
289. "Can we get out of here now? This is enough adventuring for one day" she says, going back to check on Twilight
290. "That isn't exactly possible right now. We need Twilight Sparkle's magic to activate the device and return to Equestria" says Tan
291. >looks like everything is working properly again, thank the Machine God
292. >you limp over, holding the cut closed, kneeling next to Twilight
293. "How is she?" you ask
294. "She's breathing... " replies Dash
295. >you open her eyelids, checking her pupils with a pen light
296. >they contract as they should
297. >pulse is strong and regular
298. >she's warm, snout is a little cooler and a bit moist, that's all pretty normal
299. >you feel for weird lumps or broken bones
300. >you're really not much of a doctor, but she doesn't look too bad from what you can see
301. >you take out a small, four-ounce plastic flask of water and splash some in her face
302. >not much reaction
303. >you feel the blob creatures getting closer
304. >you guys needed to move
305. >like right now
306. >Tan picks up the little unicorn, always with the outmost care
307. >he knows full well that he could accidently hurt the p0ny the same way you could accidentally damage a handful of eggs while running an obstacle course
308. >and he'd get many bullets for his carelessness
309. >you start making your way across the boring land of mossy rocks
310. >you patched up your leg, the cut was clean and it had already stopped bleeding
311. >the magnetic signature of the beings is distant now
312. >not much to eat
313. >Rainbow packed a few snacks
314. >you packed a couple ration bars and some old chocolate
315. >ration bar number one is "banana beef"
316. >who the fuck comes up with these flavors
317. >it wasn't that bad
318. >another day goes by
319. >water is becoming an issue
320. >you split your last flask between Dash and Twilight
321. >you still have your emergency bladder in your suit
322. >you save it, deciding to use it after moving further away from the faint blob signal
323. >you all slowly move through the bland desert-like landscape
324. "Anon, I believe I have felt Twilight moving" says Tan
325. >oh fuck yeah!
326. >you were remembering all dat starvation again from the first time you came to Equestria
327. >you needed the good news
328. "Set her down..." you say
329. >she gently lays her on the soft sand
330. >in a spot free of fucking mossy rocks
331. >yep she moved
332. >her ear twitched
333. >you drop some water on her lips, and she shakes her head, snorting
334. "She's okay!" exclaims Dash
335. "Twilight? Twiliiiiight, can you hear me?"
336. >she slowly wakes up
337. >her eyes open and blink a few times
338. "Guys? Ohhhh... My head..." she puts her hooves against her face, moaning
339. "I have the worst headache right now... What's going on..."
340. >you hug her
341. "Twilight! You're okay..." you say, wrapped around the purple p0ne
342. "Anon?" she says, a little confused
343. >you release her, and Dash sets a hoof on the little unicorn's shoulder
344. "We were pretty worried, back there..." says Rainbow
345. >Twilight sits up, nursing her head
346. "Just what happened? Why are you all..."
347. >she stops in mid-sentence
348. >shakes her head
349. "Twilight?" says Rainbow
350. >her eyes go wide
351. >mouth slack
352. >her eyes start darting back and forth, going between looking at "nothing" and "not much in particular"
353. "Twilight? You okay?" you ask
354. >lips quivering
355. >she starts breathing faster
356. "We need to go back right now! We need to go back!" she says, panicked
357. "Back where? Back home? We can now, just a bit of magic and we can get back home!" you say
358. >she grabs you, hooves pulling you closer
359. "No, we need to get back to those mineral deposits! Right now! We have to, it's the on-AAAAAUUGH"
360. >she grabs her head and writes
361. "Twilight! What's wrong?!"
362. >she groans and grits her teeth
363. “Anon, we need to get… Hnnng… We need to get back to those mineral deposits…” she gasps, pressing her hooves against her temples
364. >go back there?
365. “Twilight, you almost died back there, why do we need to go back?” you ask
366. >her breathing slows down
367. “Those things we saw… They were trying to help us… We need the other minerals”
368. >she takes a few deep breaths, looking like her head isn’t hurting as much
369. “They were trying to… Talk to me. They weren’t trying to kill us. They were just talking to me… We need to bring home these other crystals… Not in words, but in thoughts… I don’t even have the words, Anon. I can’t explain what they told me, they needed to teach me how to think like they do, there are no words…” she mutters
370. >current operation status = SNAFU
371. “We need to get home, Twilight, you’re confused, they messed with your head or something…”
372. >she looks at you, determined
373. “Listen to me. We need to get other minerals from them, and take those home. I think they needed to warn us at all costs, those minerals are different when they’re in those pillar formations… They’d be dangerous to take back home. That’s what I think they meant… I just don’t have the words for what their thoughts. We need to bring back their crystals and exchange them for the other minerals… It’s the other ones we need to bring home” she replies
374. >this is bad
375. “Twi, I think we should just get out of here, right now” you say
376. >Tan looks at you, antennas fluttering
377. “Will you just trust me on this?” she snaps
378. >she’s been injured, possibly brainwashed by an alien entity with unknown motives
379. >she still sounds like Twilight, however
380. “I will, but we’ll do this my way” you reply
381. >the beings are very far away, but you all start covering ground
382. >you split the remaining water equally
383. >Tan decides that you’re all moving too slow
384. >your leg is killing you
385. >he picks you both up and Dash flies ahead
386. >the bug-like evolved plant life has no trouble running with both of you on his strange, armored, jointed shoulders
387. >you see the field of mossy rocks
388. >the blob-like beings are closer now
389. >they seem to have moved back to their crystalline formations, however
390. >not giving chase?
391. >this simplifies things
392. >you’re quickly approaching the strange, reddish, twisted rock formations
393. >you feel the crystal pillars in the distance, through your implants
394. >you give Tan a tap on the head
395. >he skitters up one of the tall, twisted rocks, depositing you on the top
396. >and keeps going with Twilight on his shoulder, towards the pulsing, magnetic minerals
397. >you want him to watch over Twilight as she “negotiates”
398. >if anything goes wrong, he signals you, or signals Dash if his gear is compromised
399. >you’ll then lay suppressing fire until Tan can remove Twilight from danger
400. >it’s pretty tense
401. >you ranged out the field
402. >adjusted you scope for drop
403. >no wind, lucky you
404. >Twilight is standing in front of those mineral pillars
405. >a creature appears in front of her
406. >they just stand there, looking at each other
407. >your hand picks up magnetic fields, but they are nothing like the first time Twilight was “spoken to”
408. >that really, really doesn’t sit well with you
409. >if they were trying to speak to her the first place, why did they need that much power?
410. >you’re trying to slow your breathing
411. >this all stinks
412. >you should all be going home, not doing this shit
413. >your finger itches
414. >you really want to fire some rounds at that weird, light-bending blob of… stuff…
415. >they really looked like the shadow things in that old Ico game except less… Dark
416. >this was a bad idea
417. >you didn’t have much of a choice, Twilight would not use her magic no matter how you all asked her
418. >Twilight throws the mineral crystals you’ve collected towards the creature
419. >they hover before hitting the ground, floating back into their spots on the pillars
420. >it’s hard to make out through the scope, but you see four crystals of a different shape float up through the sand
421. >Tan sends you the message “We should be okay now, join us”
422. >you make your way down the stone formation, slowly, careful not to rip open your cut too much
423. >you meet up with Tan, Twilight and Rainbow
424. “Can we get out of here now?” says Rainbow
425. >you think for a few seconds, something just isn’t adding up
426. >Twilight looks a little drunk, but she might just be exhausted
427. >you ask Twilight if you can see the mineral crystals you got
428. >you think you know what doesn’t add up now
429. >this was not even math
430. “Hey Twilight, use your magic on Tan’s phase device. Tan, don’t engage it right away, I want to see something…” you say
431. >she hands the four prisms to you
432. “What is it? We got the minerals Tan needed, everyp0ny is happy, right? We just need to bring these minerals home!”
433. >you really, really hope you aren’t wrong
434. >the group waits for a few minutes as you come limping back frantically, holding your leg
435. “OKAY LET’S GO, TWILIGHT WAS RIGHT, ENGAGE, TAN, ENGAGE!” you roar out at the top of your lungs
436. >the blob-like shape creatures are massed behind you, advancing
437. >you feel a huge wave of electromagnetism flood around
438. >you really hope you’re right
439. >Twilight’s about to say something when the world goes fuzzy again as the phase-shift device transports you all back to Equestria
440. >you all arrive in Pinkie’s party suite
441. “Oh hi everyp0ny! I didn’t see you come in! How did you all do that anyway? I was just about to make dinner, are you guys hungry?” starts the pink p0ny
442. >she didn’t even miss a beat
443. “Anon… Anon something is wrong… What did you do when you left us just now? I’m dizzy…”
444. “Twilight, are you okay? You don’t look so good…” says Pinkie
445. >Twilight slumps over, stomach down
446. >she springs back up a few seconds later
447. “ANON! WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT N… Why are we in Pinkie’s suite? What happened?”
448. >you just drop into the nearest chair, exhauster and relieved
449. >you’re pretty sure you didn’t fuck up this time
450. “Twilight, I’m happy you’re back. Do you remember asking me to go back and exchange the crystals with those creatures?”
451. >she thinks for a few seconds
452. “I did that? I thought we escaped those things and were going to go straight back to our world… Why do I remember two things?”
453. >you explain to her that you think the blob-like creatures were trying to fool us somehow, for some reason
454. >the first thing that tipped you off was the massive magnitude of their “communication”
455. >why would you ever need that much raw power just to speak?
456. >30T and rising is more than twice the juice that the large hadron collider makes
457. >sure, the LHC can concentrate that into single particles to make a point energy at ridiculous levels, but only on a very small scale
458. >the record for magnetic field generation on Earth was in the 100 Teslas, and it could pull paperclips from a mile away
459. >it took gigawatts of power
460. >the second thing was how Twilight had kept repeating that they needed to “bring the other crystals home”
461. >she said that they needed to exchange the crystals, but it’s like bringing the other ones home was more important
462. >the last and most important thing was that the original minerals had a very distinct pattern in their EM pulses
463. >the ones Twilight had gotten in exchange
464. >those ones felt like the blob creatures
465. >you did not really feel like bringing anything over to Equestria that felt like those electromagnetic blob-creatures
466. >you’d just yelled out how Twilight was correct so she wouldn’t do anything to stop you all from coming home
467. >Twilight is looking pretty damn bummed
468. “It’s all my fault… Who knows what could have happened if I’d brought those things here…” she says
469. “Twilight, you know that’s a load of horse apples. You heard Anon, those things were really powerful! They had you under some weird mind-control…” says Dash
470. >you pat Twi on the shoulder, trying to cheer her up
471. “Wasn’t your fault”
472. >Pinkie jumps in the fray
473. >she throws a bag of flour on herself
474. “OHSHIT WHAT” you cough out, moving away from the white cloud
475. “Pinkie! What the hay?” says Rainbow
476. >Twilight coughs a bit, and then starts laughing
477. >Pinkie is immaculately white, striking a pose
478. >you chuckle too
479. “Pinkie, you’re so random…”
480. “What, it worked for the Cake’s children, I thought it would cheer you all up!”
481. >and it did
482. >Tan’s antennas flourish with color again
483. >what is up with that?
484. >you shrug it off, you’ll ask later
485. >Pinkie made this really good salad as an entrée, then you all had a main course of crazy fucking fluffy, warm pastries
486. >desert for last?
487. >fuck that noise. Desert for all meals
488. >you passed out on the couch after your seventh éclair
489. >Pinkie would be the death of you
490. >today was not a healthy day
491. >but it was worth it
