  1. Vienna Lugnasten is a Breton born on the 23rd of Frost Fall 4E 180 in Daggerfall. Like many Breton she favored intellectual pursuits over physical ones.
  2.
  3. Her mother, Sofia was gifted mage, however her father Staerk was a Nordic blacksmith who left Skyrim with Sofia to return to Daggerfall when Vienna's older brother war born on the 15th of the Last Seed in 4E 179
  4.
  5. Vienna's mother taught her the ways of spellcasting while her father taught Theron how to smith and swing a blade. Theron had smithed a sword just for Vienna, and taught her the basic techniques to wield it. She wasn't a master swordsman by any means, but with her clever use of magic was able to get fair amount of use from the blade. Theron however, apparently gaining more genes from Staerk than Sofia, was barely able to maintain a basic flame. His natural ability with a blade however more than enough made up for his lack of talent with magic. Through attempting to teach eachother, and their natural synergy, Vienna and Theron became the closest of siblings, as Theron trained in hopes of being a general one day and Vienna to be a master of alteration and restoration magic.

  7. Shortly after Theron's 22nd birthday, their father's past caught up with him. Staerk was a mercenary that worked directly under Ulfric Stormcloak, and Sofia was a powerful mage for the Reachmen. Staerk was captured by Sofia, but shown mercy, as Sofia had never been a cold-blooded killer. Staerk was charming for a Nord, and even though he was tied up in a tent at one of Sofia's campsites, managed to make a good impression on her. Staerk, not being inherently loyal to the Stormcloaks, merely being a mercenary and Sofia being the gentle soul that she was, shared a common desire to leave this life behind. Somehow, in the darkest of moments, a light glowed dimly. This night was when Theron was conceived, and around a year later the plans had been fully set in motion to leave Skyrim forever. Sofia had shaken her ties with the Reachmen, managing to elude their ever diminishing numbers as the Stormcloaks continued to take holds back from the now dubbed Forsworn. Staerk however, had more-so outright deserted than peacefully cutting his ties, and assassins had returned to cut the stormcloaks own loose ends, despite Staerk having no plan to share anything he knew.

  9. That night, on the 16th of the Last Seed in 4E 201, the Lugnasten's home is burned to the ground, and both Sofia and Staerk are killed.
  10.
  11. In blind rage, and with small amount of knowledge of Staerk's past life, Theron disappears in the night and crosses the border to Skyrim illegally. He is captured on the 17th, and detained by Imperial soldiers, assumed to be a Stormcloak, and sent to the chopping block in Helgen.
  12.
  13. On the 17th of the Last Seed, Vienna discovers that her brother is now missing as well. With no time to grieve for her parents, the local townsfolk assure her that Sofia and Staerk will get a proper funeral, and urge her to find her brother.
  14.
  15. Vienna is given passage to Skyrim, and with all the gold her parents had saved up in their life is able to purchase a home in Falkreath. There she meets a young girl named Isobel, and swaps stories at night in the Dead Man's Drink. Isobel was fascinated with Vienna's situation, and offered to smith her a unique set of armor, light enough for her to cast magic in, sturdy enough to protect her, and small enough so she could wear enchanted robes over it. Unable to thank her enough, Vienna swears she will do anything she can to help Isobel, who asks her simply to swear the same for Falkreath and those who cannot protect themselves within. Emboldened by the new friend (and armor), Vienna dawns her blade and sets out to discover what happened to her brother, Theron.

  17. --- UPDATE 10/22/16 ---
  18.
  19. Vienna was asked by the gravekeeper of Falkreath to bring back Runil's Journal from a cave in the direction of Whiterun. Needing some extra coins for the long road ahead, she dawns her white horse and rides into the woods in search of this cave. A few skeletons later, Vienna comes upon a mad looking priest charging her. Realizing this man must've been the source of the skeletons, Vienna readies her stance. She deflects the Death Priest's dagger, and manages to knock it to the floor. Vienna shoulders the priest, with a tactic her older brother taught her, and sends him stumbling backwards into the cave wall. The priests hands flow red with flames and Vienna quickly readies a ward spell. Thanks to appropriate timing, and her natural Breton resistance to magic, she is able to shrug off the flames without any permanent damage, and with more adrenaline surging through her veins than ever before, plunges her sword through the heart of the priest. Hearing the choking and bubbling of blood in the priests throat shakes Vienna to her core. She lets go of her sword, and falls to the ground staring at the now deflowered blade protruding out of the still twitching priest, trickling with fresh blood. Just as she is about to mentally tear herself apart for killing this man and not subduing him, a voice grabs her attention. She quickly grabs the blade and while trembling, turns to face a strange woman singing in a cage.
  20.
  21. "So this is my hero?" the girl says,
  22. "Were you expecting someone more... Dashing?" Vienna chokes out, her hands barely holding her blade, still managing to stay true to her Breton wit
  23. "I prefer my heroes less dashing, else they dash onto the next girl while I'm doing my hair."
  24. Somewhat forgetting about the priest in face of such a strange personality, Vienna calms down a bit. She asks the woman for her name, and what she's doing in the cage, as well as why she has warpaint of a palm on her face.
  25.
  26. After one of the strangest conversations Vienna has ever had, she learns that the strange warpaint is actually a burn mark, although unable to get any more details, and that this strange girl is named Zora Fair-Child. Zora apparently has been captured multiple times, and offers her steel to Vienna, recognizing her as different than the typical brash hero, barely cleaning the blood from his brow before unbuttoning his belt.
  27.
  28. The two return to Falkreath, thanks mostly to Zora's humor keeping Vienna distracted, and the two share more stories at the Dead Man's Drink. Vienna learns of Zora's past, that she was a beautiful maiden with a wicked heart, who's magically gifted, but visually lacking little sister slapper her across the face with a hand literally burning with rage. Some more personal details, and she discovers that Zora's sister is actually a witch who hasn't been seen for a long time. Vienna knows the pain of losing a sibling, and can't let Zora lose the opportunity to save her sister out of ignorance. She offers her help, insists that is, and Zora mentions the Sleeping Giant inn in Riverwood. Thinking this might be a good opportunity to learn more of Theron's whereabouts, Vienna agrees and the duo go to sleep thinking about their siblings.
