Cord stands six feet one inch tall, weighing 182 lbs, most of it from muscle gained during his previous career as a construction worker. His overall muscular build is mostly covered up by his usual wear, a black private school uniform from a local high school (stripped of identification) with an overly long belt that tends to hang when Cord is careless. He also has a carved Poochyena mask, intricate enough to match a normal Poochyena's face, aside from modifications for it to fit and scale to a human's face. The mask itself is polished and treated so that it does not burn or get wet easily. It normally is fastened to his belt, though at times Cord is known to take it off and wear it. It is completely fit to fit Cord's face exactly.

Backstory:
Cord was born in Kushva in Conferni to David and Lucy. Everything was peaceful; it was an isolated village, low in population and free from the hustle and bustle of the cities. His daily life included having fun with friends, learning in school, playing with Pokemon, and going to the neighboring town with his parents every week to shop for stuff that couldn't be bought in the village.

However, his happy days would soon end. When Cord was eight, a rebellion would happen in Sandport, the busiest city in Kushva. It was the start of the Kushvian Civil War, and David, with a heavy heart, left the family to join the Royal Army. Things were okay for the family, though. Even though they were told to stay in the village, there were regular shipments of food and a letter from his dad every two weeks until he was twelve, when the letters stopped abruptly. It was about then when Corsola Reef, the area closest to the royal palace, was taken over.

Mandatory conscription started then, and Cord started fighting as soon as he turned thirteen, first to defend Estuan, and the town closest to the royal palace, and then closer and closer to the palace as the rebels advanced. At seventeen, he was given his first and only military reward for an assault and gained his mask, a Poochyena one. However, the month after, the royal palace was taken over by the rebels and the King was killed, ending the war. Soon, all the low ranking soldiers returned home.

Conferni, however, had changed since then. Now named Deadwood, it was one of the hardest hit, as the experimental Agent Oran was used there, killing most of the flora and fauna there. The town was literally surrounded by the empty husks of trees, giving it its new name. Luckily, none of the people were harmed by the experimental weapon. It was then, though, that the rebels announced the execution of not only the higher-ranked officers, but also anyone commended by the royal army. Cord had no choice but to leave the region, quickly taking a boat out to sea.

It was then when Cord ended up in Kanto, with almost nothing on him but his clothes, his mask, and a little tiny bit of food and water. Quickly finding work as a construction worker, he worked for a year, gaining enough money to fund his start of the gym challenge. It was a traditional thing that could be done using his set of skills that he learned from the war, so tried for it as soon as he heard about it. A coworker, noting his mask as he visited his apartment, gave him a Poochyena to start off the new journey with before he moved to the starting town, now nineteen years of age.
