I Tried Registering for a Guild

勇者が魔王を倒したというニュースが伝えられ、世界中が歓喜した。
各地の町村、国々でも勇者に感謝する催しが開かれた。
当然、勇者を選出した国であるクリスネス王国王都であるミネルバでも盛大なパレードが行われていた。

そんな、めでたい行事が行われている中俺はギルドに来ていた。
二階建ての中々頑丈そうな建物である。

あの時、セシリアに説得され引きこもりを脱却した俺は、こっそり一人で城を出た。
勇者達には上手く話しておくと言っていたので俺は死んだことになっているはずだ。
彼女に持たされた地図を頼りに先程、やっと目的地である王都ミネルバに着いたのだ。

The news that the hero had defeated the Demon King was spread, and people rejoiced all around the world.

Various cities and countries as well, held festivals in gratitude to the hero.

Naturally, the country that had chosen the hero, the Kingdom of Chris'SNES, held a parade for him in the royal capital Minerva.


While those joyous events were going on, I went to a guild.

It was a fairly sturdy looking two story building.


At that time Cecilia coaxed me who was a shut-in, and I stealthily left the castle on my own.

She said that she would have a talk with them, so I was supposed to be dead now.

Relying on the map she gave to me, just a little while ago I finally arrived at my destination; the royal capital Minerva.

「なんで先に出た俺より勇者パーティーの方が早く王都についているんだ?」

主役である勇者パーティーが迎えられているの見て驚いた。
もちろん、パーティーの一員であるセシリアもいる。

"I set out earlier, so why did the Hero party get to the capital before I did?"

My eyes were met with the Hero party that was now playing the lead role, and I was shocked.

Naturally, Cecilia was amongst them.

「もしかして俺迷子にでもなってたりしたのか? ……結構寄り道したからなあ、可能性大だ」

実はここに来るまでの旅の途中で猫耳、犬耳な獣人や耳がとんがった美形なエルフを見て感動してたりした。
そんなことをしていて、道を間違えて遠回りしたのかもしれない。

まあ、結果的にこうしてミネルバに来れたし気にしないことにしよう。
そんなことを考えつつ、異世界の定番であるギルドに入る。

"Could it be that I got lost? ...I did take quite a few detours, so it's certainly possible, huh."

The truth is that on the way here, I came across cat eared and dog eared beast people, and a beautiful and touchy looking elf, and was deeply moved.

Since something like that happened, I might have accidentally taken a longer route.


中は酒場にもなっているようだ。

今の時間は昼間なので、さすがに酒をのんでいる人は見受けられないが、食事をしている人達はちらほらいた。
俺は食事をする気はないので、受付らしきところにむかう。

There was a bar inside the guild.


It was presently the middle of the day, so as expected I didn't see anyone drinking, but I did spot people eating on occasion.

I didn't feel like eating, so I headed to the place that seemed to be the reception desk.

「すみませーん。ギルドに登録したいんですけどー」

受付に人がいないので、とりあえず呼んでみる。
すると、受け付けの奥から職員であろう男が歩いてきた。

"Excuse meee. I'd like to register for the guild."

Because there was no clerk, I decided to call out for now.

「あ〜?今日はパレードやっててお祭り騒ぎだから誰も来ねぇと思ってたのに……」

ボサボサの頭をかきながら、けだるそうに歩いて来る。
死んでいる魚のような目をしているんだけど……大丈夫かこの人?

だいたい、受付って普通綺麗なお姉さんとかがやってるのがテンプレじゃあないのかよ。
……まあ、俺は綺麗なお姉さん目当てでギルドにきたわけじゃないし、どうでもいいけど。

"Ahhh? Since there was all the partying due to the parade, so I thought noone could come..."


While scratching at his unkempt hair, he listlessly walked my way.

His eyes were like a dead fish's... Was this person really alright?


In the first place, isn't there like a template for these things? Normally the receptionist should be a pretty onee-san, right?

...Well, it's not like I came to the guild with a pretty onee-san in mind, so it doesn't really matter to me though.

「ギルドに新規登録したいんですが……」

先程聞こえていなかったかもしれないがので、もう一度言う。
職員の男は頭をボリボリとかきながら、怠そうに返答してきた。

"I was thinking of making a new registration with the guild, but..."

Since he mightn't have heard me earlier, I said it once again.

While scratched at his head, the staff member replied sluggishly.

「新規登録したい?今日職員のほとんど有休とってんだよな。……っと、どうすんだっけ?」

確かここに書類がと言って、受付の書類を適当に漁る男。
おいおい……この人大丈夫かよ。

"You want to make a new registration? The most of the staff aren't here today, though. ...Hm, what was I supposed to do again?"

Saying 'The documents are placed here, but...', the clerk randomly fished through the documents.

Oi oi... Was this guy really alright?

「ったく、勇者が見たいとか言って勝手に有休とりやがって……あー、めんどくせぇ」

客の前で悪態つくなよ。まあ、そんなんで有休とる職員達も悪いけど。
というか、なんでこいつだけ残したのかが謎だ。
どう考えても、もう一人
ぐらい残らないとだめだろうに。

しばらく書類を探しながら同僚の愚痴をいう男だったが書類がやっと見つかったようだ。

"'ddy hell, saying 'I wanna see the hero' or whatever the fuck, and selfishly deciding take a vacation... Ahhhh, so annoying."

Don't swear in front of your customers!

Well, the staff members who took a vacation are in the wrong as well, though.

Or more like, it's a mystery as to why this guy is the only one left.

However you think about it, it'd be a bad idea to leave just one guy here.


「あー、あったわ。これに必要事項書いてくれ。まあ、書くことっつても、名前と年齢、あと、死んだら自己責任だっていう同意だけだけどな」

そう言われ渡された紙に必要事項を書き渡す。

"Ahh, it was here. Write down all the important stuff here for me. Well, though I say that, all ya need is your name, age, and agreement that if you die, it's your own responsbility."

Being told this, I wrote down the necessary details on the paper I was given, and passed it back to him.

「名前はヨウキ、年は二十一な。わぁーった。じゃあこれがギルドカードだ」

適当な返事をして、俺にギルドカードであろうポケットに入るぐらいの四角いカードを渡してくる。

"So your name is Youki, and you're 21 huh. Goddit. Then here's your guild card."

Saying something indifferently, he passed over a small rectangular card that should have been the guild card.

「紛失したら金かかるから気をつけろ。するとしても三日はするな。めんどうな手続きを俺がしなきゃならんことになるからな」

どうやら他の職員達は三日たたないと戻ってこないらしい。
そんなに仕事をするのが嫌か。
怠惰にも程があるだろう。

"If you lose it, it'll cost ya, so be careful. If you're gunna lose it, at least keep a hold of it for the next three days. It'll end up with me having to go through some annoying procedures, yanno?"

It seems that the other staff members don't return for three days.

Does he hate his job that much?

There should be a limit to laziness, right?

「はぁ…わかりました」

とりあえず返事をしておく。
……というか紛失なんてしない……たぶん。

"Hah... I understand."

For the time being, I answered him.

...Or more like, I'm not gunna lose it. ...Probably.

「なら、終了だな。最初は一番低いＦランクからだからな。まあ、気長に頑張れや。……いやまて、頑張るのは三日たったらだ。そうしろ、そうしてくれないと依頼の処理とか俺がたくさんやらないといけなくなる」

どこまで仕事やりたくないんだよこいつ！？
まあ、そんな言い分聞き入れるわけもなく、その日は出来るだけたくさん依頼をこなした。
依頼の処理がめんどいと言っていたがそんなことは知らん。

今は依頼で稼いだ金を使ってとった宿屋のベッドの上で寝転び今後のことについて考えている。

宿屋はギルドから近く、余り高くない場所を選んだ。安いわりに出てくる飯がうまいという、良い宿を選んだのだ。

（このまま順調に依頼をこなしてランクを上げて金を稼ごう。そして、ある程度まっとうな生活ができるようになったら……セシリアに再度告白しよう）

俺はまだ彼女をあきらめていない。
せっかくチートをもってファンタジーな世界に転生したのに、魔族になったがゆえに、魔王城に引きこもってしまった。

そんな俺に道を示してくれた女神であるセシリアのことをあきらめられるはずがない。

（クックック……、絶対にこの恋を成就させてやるぞ！）

セシリアのことを考えテンションが上がり、厨二になってしまった俺は、しばらく寝付くことができなかった。

"Then, you're done. You start off at the lowest rank, which is F rank. Well, just take your time and give it your best. ...No, hangon. Give it your best after three days have passed. Alright? If you don't, then I'll have to deal with the request and stuff, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I have to do."


Just how much do you hate your job!?

Well, I have no intention of doing as he said, and will be doing as many requests as I can.

Even though he said the process was annoying, I don't care about any of that.


Right now I was lying on the bed of the innroom I rented using money I earned from a request, thinking about what I'd do from now on.


The inns were close to the guild, and I picked a palce that wasn't too expensive. I picked a good inn that apparently had good food despite the low price.


(I'll keep doing well like this by doing requests, and raising my rank. Then, once I'm living a proper enough lifestyle... I'll confess to Cecilia again.)


I still haven't given up on her.

Even though I'd been able to reincarnate with cheats in a fantasy world, because I was born as a demon I ended up shut-in in the Demon King's castle.


There's no way that I'd give up on Cecilia, a goddess who revealed my path to me.


(Ku ku ku... I'll definitely succeed in my love!)


Thinking about Cecilia, my enthusiasm jumped, and for a while I became a chu2 and was unable to fall asleep.
