  1. Initial impressions:
  2.
  3. +directly in blender, and all the benefits of such
  4. +not being stupidly limited to isometric view
  5. +preview how it actually looks in blender render while making the model
  6. +modify mesh yourself in blender
  7. -have to make in blender, then export to other 3d sofware
  8. +but not actually that negative, now issues with exporting files can be handled by the blender foundation
  9. =topology differences
  10. +better eye topology
  11. +better breast topology (sags like real breast, instead of being smooth and plastic)
  12. +new and improved overweight topology
  13. -default models have washboard abs
  14. +more ethnicities to choose from
  15. -models have a special pose by default, requiring an extra button press to get the rest pose
  16. --female models start out with a "sexy" pose....
  17.
  18.
  19.
  20. questions/concerns while figuring out sliders:
  21.
  22. =the "generator" tab appears to fulfill the same function as the weight/muscle sliders in the "macro" tab in mh, except you have to reload instead of
  23.
  24. seeing it in real time, and I don't know what the other checkboxes do
  25. =the parameters are non-macro, the only macro target is "body size" and it scales the whole model. no equivalent to the old height slider, if there was
  26.
  27. one, it would be under generator, but currently only "tone and mass" spawns a slider, the others have unpredictable effects that I haven't figured out
  28.
  29. yet.
  30. =for instance, having "height" and "realistic" selected and clicking generate makes the model's boobs bigger... I don't understand
  31.
  32. no wait i figured it out. the "generator" is actually a RANDOMIZER. the ones you check are the ones that stay the same.
  33. except no, because i checked all but "tone and mass" and the height is still changing.
  34. and why is are the old weight/muscle sliders stuck in there? shouldn't it be under parameters? can I change weight/muscle mass gradually (instead of
  35.
  36. using presets) like in makehuman, without having to do it via a random generator?
  37.
  38. what does the "mix" checkmark under "main" do? the tooltip says "mix templates", but there doesn't seem to be a way to choose more than one template? I
  39.
  40. presume it's supposed to be the equivalent of the old makehuman gender/race sliders.
  41.
  42. there's an expression mixer inside "parameters", nice
  43.
  44. the stomach sliders are a little bit different, instead of tone/"pregnancy shape", you have fat around the whole midsection, and the equivalent of the
  45.
  46. old stomach slider(s) that makes the belly protrude. so more realistic control there, but no control that makes the stomach hang more/less
  47.
  48. there's a "waist" control that does the equivalent of the waist in the makehuman "measure" section
  49.
  50. there is a "torso tone" slider, but it controls the muscularity/fatness of the whole torso
  51.
  52. there seem to be new shoulder sliders, nice
  53.
  54. the "cheeks infraVolume" sldier appears to be new
  55.
  56. there's a collarbone slider now, i know some people would appreciate that
  57.
  58. there's a thigh gap slider
  59.
  60. there's an eyebrow tone slider, very interesting
  61.
  62. love the "eyelids lower curve", seems like someone has been paying attention to fan suggstions (same with the "septum flat" nose slider)
  63.
  64. one of the elf ear sliders has been removed. I also only just noticed that asymmetry has been removed, but that's okay because no one really liked that
  65.
  66. anyway.
  67.
  68. I like the "reset category" button, pretty convenient
  69.
  70. why is showing subdivision in the viewport a separate button? why not just make the subdivision modifier spawn invisible in the regular location?
  71.
  72. there are "type almond" and "type hooded" eye sliders now, are those race related eye features?
  73.
  74. there's an overall head size slider now, another welcome change
  75.
  76. increasing "torso length" makes the torso move up off the armature??
  77.
  78. sometimes a glitch happens where changing the expression (from the drop down list of expressions) also changes the body type??
  79.
  80. the skeleton is simplified, you can only pose the face via the addon. how does this work, though? does this mean you can't pose the face if you export as
  81.
  82. obj/dae/etc and work in a different program?
  83.
  84. Also not sure how you make a second human. there doesn't seem to be a button for that. and if you were to have more than one human on your scene, would
  85.
  86. it let you edit whicher human you've selected, or would the second human model you imported via blender have an unposeable face, or something?
  87.
  88. once you create the mesh, you can't change male/female or race. deleting the old mesh lets you start over.
  89.
  90. the "glamour" poses arent available for the male character... isn't that sexist? what if I wanted to make a male supermodel?
  91.
  92. you can export the parameters you created on one type of basemesh and apply it to a different basemesh. not nearly as convienent as makehuman's
  93.
  94. gender/race sliders though.
  95.
  96. the default pose thing becomes more annoying when you keep creating and recreating the basemesh
  97.
  98. I thought there were more mouth options in makehuman than this, but I could be wrong
  99.
  100. no age slider either... there are face wrinkle settings hidden deep in the parameters but there doesn't seem to be a global age settings. so no children,
  101.
  102. and no baby-faced men either.
  103.
  104. the manual says there's a morphable pupil but there doesn't actually seem to be a way to do that
