Star and Marco get a slushie

>All was still and silent; Marco Diaz was the void
>Breath in, breath out
>Stilling his mind, Marco thought of nothing but inner peace, calm, and tranquility
>Breath in, breath out
>From the edge of his senses, Marco thought he felt something
>A ripple in the pool of his consciousness
>Whatever it was, it was getting louder
>If he focused, he could almost make out words....
>"an ge a urpy?" -the voice said, as though from a great distance
>He brought himself out of his meditation, allowing himself to sense the world around him
>"Marco, wanna get a slushie?" -Star Butterfly asked him while poking his face and smiling
>"Star, you just ruined my meditation practice! I was just getting the hang of it too..." -Marco sighed as he got up from his spot on the floor of his room while Star started bouncing on his bed
>"My bad Marco, but I heard from Jackie that there is a new slushie place that just opened downtown and they're offering free samples!" -Star said as she continued her bouncing
>"Wait, Jackie told you? When did you start talking to Jackie outside of class? Also, don't turn around, I need to change if we're going to town" -Marco said as he walked into his closet to swap out of his gi and into his normal clothes
>Star just closed her eyes and kept talking while trying not to giggle
>"After I gave her your phone number of course! I told her that we share a phone, so she can reach either of us with the same number, plus she's got a line on all the school's most recent gossip from Janna" -Star said after she stopped bouncing and started staring out the window
>"Hold up, Jackie has my phone number?! When did that happen!?" -Marco said while trying and failing to put on his hoodie
>"A few weeks ago, but that's not the important part, the important thing is FREE SLUSHIES!" -Star yelled into Marco's face while jumping up and down, attempting to help him put on his hoodie at the same time

>"If we don't leave now, they might be out of them by the time we get there! -Star said as she started to drag Marco out of his room
>"Ok ok, I'm good, you don't need to drag me, give me a minute to put on my shoes and we'll go" -Marco said while tying up his shoes at the door
>Star proceeded to bounce in place for the next minute, thinking of the free slushie she could be partaking in right now if Marco was just a little faster
>After Marco was ready, both teens ran to the garage to grab Marco's bike and headed out to grab a pair of slushies for themselves
>Oddly enough, the trip was rather uneventful, barring Star's use of magic to propel Marco's bike faster than it probably should go if they didn't want to risk a speeding ticket
>Once there, the two proceeded to...wait in line as it seemed that they weren't the only ones who had heard about the free slushies
>Even more strangely, a few of Ludo's minions were even waiting in the line as well
>"Ah man, is that Bearicorn and Deer Beard I see? If we keep to ourselves, maybe they won't bother us?" -Marco whispered to Star after spotting the group of monsters farther up the line from them
>"Welllll....I could use my wand to get rid of them, but maybe they're off duty or something? Heh...duty...." -Star said while chewing on her wand as she thought about they're options
>Just then, one of the monsters started stretching and after turning around, spotted the two teens. He poked one of the other monsters and started saying something.
>"Ah man, this won't be good. Just try and not blow up the slushie place like last time please?" -Marco pleaded with Star while Man-Arm started walking in their direction
>After he got close enough to speak, Man-Arm said to the two teens: "Hey guys, you here for the free slushies too? I haven't had a slushie in years! Ludo just keeps getting ice cream and milkshakes, which gets a little drab after awhile" -Man-Arm said

>Confused, Star asked the monster why he wasn't attacking them, and where was Ludo?
>"Oh, he went on vacation a few days ago. Said he needed some time away and gave us the week off" -Man-Arm said as he scratched his chin thoughtfully
>"That would explain why we haven't been attacked the past few days, but why aren't you attacking us now?" -Marco asked while also scratching his chin
>"We're on vacation too, why would we be attacking you when we're off the clock? Even us monsters like to get away from the office once and awhile" -Man-Arm said while started to walk back to the group of monsters
>"Nice seeing you two though" -Man-Arm said as he waved and walked back to his co-workers
>"Huh, wasn't expecting that..." -Star said while skimming the small menu of flavors that had been pasted out while the three had been talking
>"Me either, but at least now we don't have worry about getting ambushed for a little while and the slushie place gets to stay in one piece" -Marco said while eyeing his little menu
>After 10 more minutes of waiting in line and chatting the teens had picked their flavors and gotten up to the booth to order
>"Welcome to Slushie Supreme, home to over 50 flavors of slushies, what can I get for your free sample today?" -The bored looking fast food worker asked the teens
>"I will have Root Beer and she'll have Tiger's Blood my good man" -Marco said while Star slowly started to bounce in place again
>"Alright, please wait at the next counter and we'll have your order ready in a few minutes, thanks" -The fast food worker said while turning to the next person in line
>"This is so exciting! Free flavored watery drinks!" -Star said as they waited next to the second counter for their order
>"Yeah, today's been fairly warm too, a cold slushie might help cool us off" -Marco said
>Once they got their slushies, the pair found a nearby covered table and sat down to enjoy their treat

>Unfortunately, Marco only noticed once they had sat down that Star had already slurped down a third of her own slushie.
>"Marrrcoooo...my head hurtsss...I think something's wrong with my slushie...."-Star said while holding her head in her hands
>"I'm sorry Star, I didn't think you would try and eat it that quickly! Try pushing your tongue against the roof of your mouth, that should help a little" -Marco said while slowly consuming his own slushie
>After doing what Marco suggested, Star's brain freeze lessened and she slowly went back to finishing off her slushie
>"Thanks Marco, didn't realize eating these things would have that kind of effect on my brain. -Star said
>"It's fine Star, it happens to most people when they eat something cold too fast, but it's only temporary." -Marco sympathized
>Once Star felt better, the two finished their slushies and got back on Marco's bike to head back home. Thankfully Marco's Mom was planning to make something spicy for dinner, so they had something warmer to look forward to eating.
