  1. Decades maybe Centuries surely not a millennia You'd lost count...
  2. Bound, restricted and entombed but alive the cold earth carpeted you, hands of soil holding you down clinging franticly not wanting you to escape, chains of the source threaded around and between each arm and leg shackles never ment to be removed.
  3. Alive still, even after so long without oxygen or food you should have died you would have If you were still human, your twisted corporis not allowing you the relief of death.
  4.
  5. Instead of constant conscious agony your body had shut down, preserving only vital functions. You slept only waking at intervals it became meaningless as each gap in time hardly affected the wards imprisoning you. Minutes awake fumbling to unravel your bonds became months of frantically assaulting their placements reaching out with what little source wasn't burnt out of you during your accession. Your lone black flame corrupted by your thirst for power danced from rune to rune pressing and contoroting seeking to find any weakness or sign of decay the wards steadfast defense would be your end.
  6.
  7. Your body does need nutrients and oxygen to survive your reserves had reached it's limit even in unlife starving would be a painful slow death. Lost in desperation and fear struggling to free yourself the spark and the flame of the source had gone unnoticed. Only as the flame grew did it draw your attention the source was burning and it wasn't your own.
  8. In the black of the void you could spot the bright yellow flame flickering high above you as soon as the first was spotted more sprouted around it multiplying with every second more countless bright flames sprung in to existence.
  9.
  10. The void above illuminated by the dance of flame across flame snuffing out one another on contact, battle was raging above and they used the source, as flames dimmed more brightened you watched for hours. As the battle raged the flames drawing closer the wards shimmered faltering with the sudden pressure of source burning in such a close proximity.
  11.
  12. With the wards unsteady you lash out burning your source, black flame spreading to intwine the Knot of self sustaining source you could feel what had been a taught tangled coil of source was now slack with ends frayed and loosened your flame lighting and consuming the entanglement of source. As each ward fell and was consumed your power grew starved for so long your hunger would not be stated by mere morsals the flames above would serfise.
  13.
  14. The battle of vallis pass had gone as planned, the Reliqui had grown lax and arrogant in the Nidum their mountain fortress never expecting a assault, years of sitting on their hoard of knowledge and treasure would be their downfall, your army of trained Nullam had snuck close using various arts from void walking to warding against notice.
  15.
  16. The guards set didn't notice their flames being extinguished or your Nullam's stilettoes gracing their bodies with their presence. The Nullam had made it to the winding corrdors and grand halls before the Reliqui had detected their breach the fighting was hard and brutal. From your perch across from the Nidum the whole of Vallis pass was within view your men below all lesser Nullam streamed in though a opened gate. The pass was barren with small rocky protusions causing deep trenches in some areas.
  17.
  18. You could spot flames dancing indistinguishable from another you had brought the strongest Nullam you could find all dedicated to the cause all willing to sacrifice their lives for a chance to share in the wealth kept hidden. The flames danced from the tallest of battlements to the deepest of the Depths below, your Nullam had caught the Reliqui unaware smashing their defences, it was over your Nullam will eradicate the foolish Reliqui the Nidum was yours.
  19.
  20. You couldn't help but grin looking between your luitenants shock and awe dotting their faces they had expected the Reliqui to rain down lighting and fire to eradicate your army scorching the land leaving nothing but stains to worn against those mad enough to attack their sanctuary. You had been prepared to accept defeat by total decimation the Reliqui could crush a head on attack but caught unprepared without their wards and traps shielding them as they poured down hellfire.
  21.
  22. The Reliqui floundered trying to set a defensive line, your Nullam were to fast knowing the Reliqui's skill set anf not wanting to be boxxed in and purged, with few close quarters skills the old frail Reliqui were cut down trying to manifest elebrate prisons. You had won the Nidum had fallen the Reliqui would be pushed to the brink of extinction, all the knowledge hidden within would be yours along with the wealth of a nation.
  23.
  24. Then suddenly light, blinding you a flash of brilliant white radiating from cracks adorning the bottom of the Nidum streaking out in waves of unprecedented amounts of the source burning with a furioucicty you had never seen only heard of in stories, legends made reality in mere moments before your own eyes. Focusing in the void you could distinguish a minuscule black flame centered in the white brilliance.
  25.
  26. The light spread blotting out everything but the Tenebris your vison was entrapped on the dancing flame as it grew gaining in size well past any you'd seen before a colossal flame against the white plane. The Tenebris flickered maniacally writhing and waning, the white plane fading to pearl grey then into night black your vision returned. The Nidum stood, all the majestic yellow flames of you Nallum had gone, disappeared to you sense's the familer glow of you companions were even gone your own flame so small and dim you could hardly notice its presence.
  27.
  28. Then it erupted the Nidum changing from stone and metal to molten slag and dust the sound deafening, knocked you and your companions to the ground, shaking the entire pass enormous bouts of black and blue fire began streaming up in to the night sky ilumnaintng the valley in its unnatural dark light. The terrible flame wrought an unnatural feel, even with your flame so diminished and smothered, its presence could not be missed a absence as if it couldn't exist. All the flames inside were merely stars in the night sky blinking out of existence.
  29.
  30. Explosion after explosion, bout of flame after of bout flame had you knocked dangerously close to the edge of your perch.
  31. You could see the Nidum well what was left, it had been blown outwards showering your army and the pass with molten rock and metal the grim fields adorened with smouldering piles those who weren't killed instantly died trying to flee the torrent of flame.
  32.
  33. The towers of monstrous flames dispated and receded lower to the ruin of Nidum fortress, no smoke or ash remained from what the black flame had touched the lack of the holy reminder of the flames sacredness proved its dark origin. Ash and smoke the signs of purity and rebirth were absent only death clung to those flames remorseless and dead, a platform had been raked by the flames an abhorrent flatness conflicting with the coarse and scarred land, the ground was adorned with strange white binding and chains.
  34.
  35. Concentrating on burning what little source you could muster sweat began pouring off you, eyes focusing clearing the distance between, you could spot a lone figure standing unbound it was Reliqui or vaguely Reliqui its arms and legs were ivorny white with lean sinewy muscle seemingly incandescent, intricately designed appendages graced the arms and legs reminiscent of strange sea creatures seen as a child, the grotesque arms of a ploypus an eldritch horror from the Deep, crawled and wound along the white limbs accenting it with their lightlessness
  36.
  37. Its body clad in shredded rags, long filth ridden hair covering most of its entire head hiding the thing's face. Rapt in awe you couldn't take your eyes off the stationary monstrosity moments passed hours between breaths until it moved, a fast and unfamiliar gait two steps forward head downcast assessing the ground in front of it slowly raising it's white arms and inspecting. Its head shot up throwing its hair back revealing its face, pale delicate features stains with muk and filth its eyes locking with yours deep blue contrasted with dark scarlet iris clouded by pearl grey sclera its pericing gaze crumbling the last of your courage.
  38.
  39. Frozen in fear your body trapped in its gaze sudden pain flairing around you upper body and neck somthing writhing entangling haules you off the edge in a desperate attempt to free yourself you began hitting the thing. Fist meeting soft but firm flesh cold and bumpy to touch gave no budge to your barrage cups of pressure clinging tightly to you from underneath the long arm appendage. It was a ploypus arm as a child your grandfather had made you even eat one this was inconceivable.
  40.
  41. Where had it come from?
  42.
  43. How could it be so large?
  44.
  45. Your mind's desperate attempt to perceive and understand rudely interrupted by the sudden slowed decent and reappearance of the figure, the massive fleshy arm protruding from behind its back.
  46. The figure examined you intrigued reaching forward with its white arm caressing your right horn shock and interest clearly plastered on its pale visage
  47.
  48. "what are you?"
  49.
  50. a soft and soothing voice barely audible you'd learned the retched reliqui tongue to interrogate the few who travled the land speechless you could only stare.
  51.
  52. The thing had a dark grey skin tone and sharp blue eyes they widens as you spoke you hadn't seen any thing like this before around average human height with two curved horn sprouting from just above its ears. During your imprisonment the world had changed drastically new kingdoms surely carved out by these new arrivals entire ages had passed while you slumbered.
  53. Nevertheless you were free and your hunger stated the flames battling were more then enough to feed you this one was sentient the tiny flame flickering was enough to prove that once the flame had heal settled you would ask it again.
