  1. Stethoscope
  2. The stethoscope is used to monitor bodily sounds, such as the heartbeat and the flow of blood. It is composed of two listening devices: a plastic disc, and what could be known as a hollow cup. If the hollow cup is placed on the patient, the body sounds will vibrate the cup, creating sound waves which travel up the tube to the examiner's ears. These waves are usually of low frequency, whole the sounds on the plastic disc are of higher frequency. This gives us two ways of listening to a body part.

  4. Thermometer
  5. A thermometer device is used for measuring body temperature. There are a lot of types of thermometers, but the most famous one is the thermocouple thermometer. This is the one that is most commonly used in hospitals today. This type of thermometer notices the difference between hot and cold areas through the current attached probes. This is a very sensitive model that can provide accurate temperature results between -250 and 1600 degrees Celsius. In the old days, they used a traditional thermometer. Traditional thermometers were designed at home for measuring the temperature of the air or water in both Fahrenheit or Celsius. They do not require much maintenance, but they may have a varied accuracy, range and resolution.

  8. Sphygmomanometer
  9. Sphygmomanometer is a device used to measure blood pressure. It uses a fabric that surrounds the arm or wrist, which receives air into it. This is done to prevent blood flow, and make it enter in small doses in order to accurately measure blood pressure at the start of the blood entering, and at what pressure it can stay before the blood's movement slows down. The usual unit of measurement of blood pressure is millimeters of mercury (mmHg) as measured directly by a sphygmomanometer.

  12. Digital Blood Pressure Monitor
  13. A digital blood pressure monitor measures blood pressure using a new method, instead of the one's used by sphygmomanometer.
  14. The sphygmomanometer method that is typically used by healthcare professionals, is a combination of a stethoscope and a heavy fabric that surrounds the arm with air is used to take blood pressure readings by listening for the sounds which correspond to blood pressure. To take accurate blood pressure readings using this method requires training and practice. Digital Blood Pressure Monitor (DBPM) technology measures the vibration of blood travelling through the veins and converts the movement into digital readings.
