  1. Ys Origin Yunica Speedrun Strats:
  2. *** I will try getting videos for these, but no guarantees, all of this can be seen in my runs ***
  3. ** This will all be in Chronological order, so no explanations as to which or what should be needed **
  4.
  5. Necessary Information:
  6. * Lunge attack - quick tap any direction, and then hit the attack button. If you see Yunica stand still for a bit before you hit that attack button, you are doing it too slow
  7.
  8. * Falling attack - On certain enemies, it's good to use falling attack. Not only does it do a lot of damage, it also stuns the enemy (example: knights before valagunder). To do so, you have to be in the air and falling down, simply hit the attack button while you are falling and you should lunge to the earth.
  9.
  10. * Hammer Charge Guarding - When you use charged hammer, you gain super armor and get no damage for a short period of time, timing these for certain bosses and monster areas is crucial
  11.
  12. * Always hold your magic button unless you are about to use it to move onward faster (Varies)
  13.
  14. * Wallrunning Glitch - When you run along against a wall, it has to be the wall on Yunica's right side wherever direction she is going in. To do this glitch, simply run along the wall at nearly ~1-5 degrees in the degree of the wall. You'll know you got it when you start to run a lot faster. This also allows you to jump higher or go down faster (water level) as your speed helps with vertical situations as well. There are different tiers of wallrunning. The best angle will give the best wallrunning. Which degree angle? Who knows.
  15.
  16.
  17. Strats and skips:
  18. * Vagullion skip - (Boost required - No) - After putting the blue moon crest into the mould, start holding your magic for wind charge. Jump down to the boss room, and wait for a moment (about 1-2 seconds when it is black screen for transitioning). Then Hold Up, release charge, and use 3 more wind magics to skip Vagullion. With Boost, activate boost before jumping down, wait the 1-2 seconds, hold up, then spam wind magic.
  19.
  20. * Eye of Mask time save - When you use the Eye of Mask to unlock the hidden room where Rico is, simply take it off right next to the door, and walk through the door so you don't have to lose time seeing the talk about removing the mask etc.
  21.
  22. * Triple Wind movement - After the Evil Room where you need the blue necklace to defeat the 4 glowing enemies, if you did well using MP, you can use 3 wind magics to get across the next room without going all the way around. It sounds simple and it's easy to do, but MP management before that room, as well as knowing how much MP you actually need for 3 whole wind magic is necessary to know.
  23.
  24. * Flooded Prison skips - After attaining the silver bracelet, there will be areas where normally you'd have to activate a switch/button in order to get to the next area. You can use 2 wind magics to skip this if you time your jumps and magics correctly. Using a charge wind magic for the first one is the easiest way to get it.
  25.
  26. * Epona Strats - If you use the mouse, you can do this thing we call "SOI SOI SOI" as best explained here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEvKz2CU92o. This is the fastest way to kill Epona, however, it's actually somewhat difficult to maintain at all times, as well as risky if and when Epona attacks you (you can't maintain it if she attacks you, you have to do it again). Otherwise, at the start of round, Lunge Attack (Minus Defense). Then Use Boost and use Wind and attacks to make her put up shield. Then Either use SOI or simply keep going around the shield with Wind till she dies. She is easier to kill in any of the corners as she MAY be able to be put in a lock where you can keep just attacking her and she just stands there with shield like an idiot.
  27.
  28. * 4 Spider RNG Strats - The next area after the Statue of Flooded Prison 3, you have to kill 4 glowing enemies to move on. These guys are the most annoying as they jump everywhere and if they jump on the water, you instantly lose time as it's harder and longer to kill them. Jump on upper platform closest to you and quickly move him to the upper right side of that platform and kill him with only attacks. Wind does no damage to him and can accidentally push him and also aggro the other enemies. After you kill him, jump down to the next one and repeat. Jump to the next upper platform, and HOPE that the bottom one jumps to the same platform so you can kill both at the same time on the same platform.
  29.
  30. * Nygtilger strats - Use Hammer, Jump and attack his tail and the one next to it. After both are complete destroyed, back off and switch to wind. Charge wind and start from the one next to his head and go backwards. Near when he's about/starts to move his head to his tail, use boost to destroy the rest of the parts, and start attacking his head with Wind and physical attacks. First cycle is possible, but very difficult. Chase him down and hope for RNG luck as his head could be reachable and attackable when he stops.
  31.
  32. * Guilty Fire Skips - After getting the Crimson Lotus Blade, you have to light up torches to progress. You can skip 1 of the torches in which it'll be the upper torch right above the treasure chest that gives a Topaz. You have to use 4 Wind Magics with the first one being a Charged One to reach to the next platform.
  33.
  34. * Leap of Faith - After upgrading with Cleria Ore and moving on, you can skip a lot of the platforming by Jumping towards the wall and using wind magic. It is exactly the same as the Vagullion Skip. Boost is not necessary, but makes it easier.
  35.
  36. * Gelaldy Strats - Only use Hammer. Charge Hammer at the start of fight, time it, and release when he attacks. Attack right after to kill it quickly and repeat. When he chomps you with his head, it's the same, except the timing to release Charged hammer is a bit more strict. But that's it.
  37.
  38. * Sands Skip - There are 2 Sand Skips, one being a headache and the other one is easy but a bit slower. This skip allows you to reach the Gold Bracelet faster instead of killing enemies, going around, and moving back and forth multiple times.
  39. \\\ The Hard one /// In order to do this skip, you have to have the perfect wallrun angle. Simple wallrun at the wall and jump to get to the above platform. Jump Attacking seems to help, but not necessary.
  40. /// The Easy one \\\ In order to do this skip, you just need boost. After getting the key, teleport back to the statue, go up, jump the highest platform on upper left, boost, then wind magic to the locked door and voila.
  41.
  42. * Jenocres strats - Start of round, Lunge attack, then just mop the floor with him with Wind Charges and attacks.
  43.
  44. * Sands Skip Part 2 - Will update this when I get a perfect handle on the many skips and 1 glitch.
  45.
  46. * Khonsclard Strats - Not much here, Shoot Phoenix at as many eyes as possible. Use Boost for 3+ Eyes and spam faiyaaaa!
  47.
  48. * Crimson Key Room Strat - Get the turtles to the top right corner but baiting them. They only jump towards where you are. Shoot them into the corner, and work your magic.
  49.
  50. * Cleria Ore Room Strat - Boost, Shoot Phoenix. At the beginning, shoot the 2 at the top down. Then bait them to the bottom. Jump up and shoot them into lava.
  51.
  52. * Mages Statue Room - Charge up Phoenix before entering this room. As you enter, drop down, and release phoenix and start moving left. Gather all the mages to the left most area (not where the door is). Use Regular attacks with the Blade and only use Charged Phoenix up and down to keep this in place as well as do the most hits.
  53.
  54. * Pictimos Strats - Start with Crimson Lotus Blade. Run to his left side, shoot Phoenix, and continue running to around him going left. Shoot him and repeat. RNG = when he decides to go for his fissure move and jump. After he Jumps, he will shoot 1 blade at you (Most likely the one you just have to jump over) He'll activate lasers, Charge phoenix, Boost, then spam Fire into his face. Smack him to death until he Heals. Charge up Phoenix, shoot it at the right time, finish him off.
  55.
  56. * Epona 2 Strats - Lunge Attack at start of round. Use Wind for Phase 1. When she does her double lunge attack, bait her into a corner then attack her. Repeat Till she starts Phase 2. Switch to Lotus Blade for Phase 2. Simply go all out and attack her and her clones (if you can only hit 1 then sure, but try to go for multiple) and spam Charged Phoenix Only (unless she's close to death). If she jumps, Bait her into a corner and repeat.
  57.
  58. * Zava Strats - Hammer Only. Hit her down, Charged Hammer release. Attack, time it, charged hammer right before she gets back up. Hit her down, repeat. As she's nearing Half Health, use Boost and repeat. Only thing to worry about is her "ultimate move". If you do it right, she wont use this.
  59.
  60. * Double Platform Skip - At this point you'll either have boost or you don't. If you don't, there are 2 ways to do this. Skip the first platforming with 3 winds, wait for MP to recover, and do it again for the next one. Or you can activate switches for the first platforms, then use the wind for the next platform. The former is the better decision. If you do have boost somehow, Use 3 magic for first, then boost for the 2nd.
  61.
  62. * Kishgal Strats - Hammer and Attack only. Lunge attack at the start of round. Physical attack 80% of the time. Don't attack him when his shield is on, it makes him keep it up longer. When he does an attack, Charge Hammer to get the super armor for a bit. Repeat till death.
  63.
  64. Dalles strats - Yolo. (Cept if you didn't waste the spirit necklace on Kishgal, you live twice!) Hammer is the best way to do the most damage on all phases. In Phase 2 when you have to use Wind first, Just stick with Charged Wind and Attack to kill part 1 of phase 2. After breaking shield with Lotus blade, switch to hammer and go nuts. Use 1 Charged Hammer, and save the next for when shield comes up. Phase 3, dodge Only the ground beams as it's CG and it wastes too much time. Throughout the entire fight, be sure to try and lure him away from corners so you can hit him and his 2 helpers.
