There are also marks for an overview of the technical controls that are available to mitigate the threat

  6. 20% Literature review (threat and threat mitigation).

  8. Provide a detailed literature review: that is, an overview of the related literature and history (NOT a description of how you conducted the research). Include details on the threat, and how the threat is defended against, in both cases include technical detail, history, and notable people and events. Aim to include references to seminal (historically important) and scholarly research, such as journal and conference papers. Describe the relationship to related threats, and make a clear distinction between security controls that are built into the platform, and those that are third party add-ons.

  10. 15% Configuration and illustration.

  12. Describe how the security can be configured, and provide configuration examples (such as screen-shots and configuration files). Include a written demonstration of the security defences, with screen-shots illustrating successful defence against the threat. Marks are based on demonstrating technical detail and understanding, and choice of examples. All screen-shots and figures must be your own creations.

  16. Explore any limitations of the security mechanisms or areas for improvements. Marks are allocated for clearly describing the scope of protection and discussion of possible future improvements and areas of active research.

  18. 5% Conclusion.

  20. Summarise and conclude your report. In general, you should not bring up new content in a conclusion, but rather highlight the most important aspects.

  22. 20% overall quality Marks are allocated based on the use of clear and grammatically correct English. The report should be in third person, and should aim for a relatively formal tone. Also it should be formatted consistently.

  24. 20% Harvard referencing Use of Harvard referencing. For full marks, you should aim to include at least 20 relevant references for this report. Marks are allocated for in-text citations, referencing style, and the number of relevant references.
