An otherwise unnoteworthy burg of farmers and lumberjacks, this small village was the first stop in which a town sprung up on the trade routes between Nolgranda and Davadezi. In addition, this was where the formation of the Commonwealth of Rivale was announced, approved by the king and sultan of their
[14:07] <@Kaingaskhan> respective realms some century or more ago. And though it has remained small, once, every year, a journey is made from across Rivale to participate in the Festival of Founding.
[14:07] <@Kaingaskhan> Katsuo, your journey here has been difficult. Akemi's trail is as wispy and ephemeral as the powers that run in your bloodline. But you are nothing if not persistant.
[14:08] <@Kaingaskhan> You have followed the tiniest whispers of a rumor concerning a woman that may vaguely resemble your sister, to the outskirts of this jovial town.
[14:08] <@Kaingaskhan> ...You seem to vaguely recall that Akemi once told you that your parents met at a festival like this one. Perhaps this very one, decades ago.

[14:09] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Possibly.  With any luck, with all the people here, someone should have heard something.
[14:10] <@Kaingaskhan> Lekha - you arrive in the town as well, the merchant you rode with dropping you off and going to get a stall set up. Though Loamvil is in many ways as in the sticks as Pava, this liveliness is certainly something new... perhaps even refreshing!

[14:11] <@Kaingaskhan> Soma - Your dance troupe arrived the previous day, and Gavin and Unbroken Circle have been busy setting up for the big show. You've spent much of the morning practicing the new routine you're to follow, but now other last minute preparations are being made. You have some time to yourself, and there is much to see around you.
[14:11] <@Kaingaskhan> What will pique your curiosity?
[14:16] <@Kaingaskhan> Iltani - The Relentless Absols set up camp in an area seemingly reserved, just to the north of the village. You discovered a mercenary company was here - a group calling themselves the Sapphire Sharpedo. Ravarrans with a good reputation, from what Garm knows. They're lead by a man known to others as the Shark of Ravarra - Tarron, if Garm remembers correctly. Seems like these people got
[14:16] <@Kaingaskhan> the same message you did and are on standby to watch for demons.
[14:16] <@Kaingaskhan> Fortunately it doesn't seem like them being around will interfere with your contract any. Garm assures you of that one.
[14:17] <@Kaingaskhan> In the meantime, he suggests you take a load off. Go ahead, have some fun.
06[14:17] * Iltani recalls having fun once, and it was awful.
[14:17] <@Kaingaskhan> Will this peace last?
[14:19] <@Kaingaskhan> To all four of you... the sights and smells of the festivities are overwhelming. Hundreds of people have shown up, many of them merchants, other tourists and those from other locales in Rivale. All sorts of games and activities have been meticulously set up by both the locals and by travelers.
[14:20] <@Kaingaskhan> Now then, where shall we stop by first...?
06[14:20] * Lekha decides to check out the fortune telling first. It's so much fun!
06[14:21] * Iltani is probably dragged along to the fortune tellers by her somewhat tipsy retrieval buddies, along with a very excitable Froakie and Ralts.
[14:22] <Iltani> Having given up any hope of having an arm free for much else, she picks up Mistral and hugs her outright, cradling the Froakie as she is dragged along for 'fun' things.
[14:23] <@Kaingaskhan> Is Katsuo heading along to fortune telling as well?
[14:24] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Sure am.
[14:24] <@Kaingaskhan> OKAY THEN
[14:25] <@Kaingaskhan> The fortune-teller's tent is set up near the village square. A circular tent made of green fabric woven into confusing, mystical shapes. There's a bit of a line to get in, but not much of one. Everyone that comes out of the tent looks extremely dissatisfied.
[14:26] <@Kaingaskhan> In the line are the three (or four!) of you, as well as Iltani's retrieval buddies. Merydia, a woman with long, dark hair, looks at the leavers with skepticism.
06[14:26] * Somalakshmi doesn't have much faith in fortune telling. She'd rather check out what's going on with the exotic pokemon race for now.
[14:27] <@Kaingaskhan> Alright then, no Soma for now.
01[14:27] <Lekha> "Think whoever's inside isn't, you know, telling them what they want to hear?"
06[14:27] * Lekha is chatty today~
[14:27] <@Kaingaskhan> Merydia: "...Bernard are you -absolutely- sure this is worth our damn time?"
[14:28] <Iltani> After some begging on Levante's part, she, too, gets picked up. The sight of Iltani cradling two chatty, excitable Pokemon is probably more than a little ridiculous.
[14:28] <@Kaingaskhan> Bernard, a sort of unassuming man nearby, glances back at Lekha, seeming to ignore Merydia for the moment. "No one wants to hear what they don't want to hear."
[14:28] <@Kaingaskhan> The Ralts and Froakie cling tightly to Iltani and peek over her shoulders at the others in the line.
[14:28] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo tries to keep quiet in the line, looking at the scenery around.
[14:28] <Iltani> "Odd. I almost took that as a deep piece of philosophy from you."
01[14:28] <Lekha> "I know. Sometimes you can totally tell they're fakin' it to make you happy though."
01[14:29] <Lekha> "Bad news is better than fake news!"
06[14:30] * Iltani shushes the two held Pokemon softly. "Calm down, you two. We're almost there."
[14:30] <Iltani> "....unfortunately," she follows up with a weary sigh.
[14:31] <@Kaingaskhan> The village square is pretty lively. There's a stage set up in the middle of the plaza, where they seem to be getting ready for some kind of performance later. You can also see various booths set up from here, Katsuo. In one, a man sits on a perilously balanced set held up by only a flicker of magical force, with moving targets created by a rune floating around. The object seems to be
[14:31] <@Kaingaskhan> to hit a moving target with a ball and dunk the guy into the tank of water underneath.
[14:31] <@Kaingaskhan> ...Lame.
[14:31] <@Kaingaskhan> The line moves up rather quickly, and before you know it, you're allowed to enter, yourselves.
[14:32] <@Kaingaskhan> In addition, I should note for Soma -
[14:33] <@Kaingaskhan> Sumeru, the vice captain of the Sapphire Sharpedos, stopped by earlier and asked if the dancer would mind looking around with her. ...Though Soma doesn't have any faith in fortune telling, it seems Sumeru is at least curious.
[14:33] <@Kaingaskhan> ...Thus the two of them have found their way to the tent as well.
[14:33] <@Kaingaskhan> Now then.
[14:34] <@Kaingaskhan> Inside the rather spacious tent, a young man sits behind a table with a crystal ball on it. He looks extremely bored, about the age of 15 or so, with short brown hair and robes. Across from him is some yokel or another. Seems like they're having their fortune read.
06[14:34] * Lekha heads in, burblebird just chillin' on her shoulder and looking around sleepily. Because burblebird. She eavesdrops SHAMELESSLY.
[14:35] <@Kaingaskhan> Boy: "....You're going to die broke and alone, but you'll get the last laugh. Next."
[14:35] <@Kaingaskhan> The guy looks rather cross with the young man for an instant and leaves in a huff.
06[14:36] * Somalakshmi sticks close to Sumeru, with her little white phanpy following at her heels as they hustle inside the tent.
01[14:36] <Lekha> "Oh, me next~" Is she actually next in line?
[14:36] <@Kaingaskhan> The boy glances up at your group of seven or so, plus mons, still rather bored. "I'm Luc the Luminous. Who wants their free reading next?"

[14:37] <@Kaingaskhan> Luc gestures for you to take the seat in front of him.
[14:38] <@Kaingaskhan> Sumeru doesn't seem to mind Soma's proximity any.
[14:38] <@Kaingaskhan> Merydia comments, "Doesn't waste time with bullshit, does he?"
[14:38] <@Kaingaskhan> And that 'you' was to Lekha.

06[14:47] * Lekha raises an eyebrow, but nods. "Often enough."

06[14:48] * Iltani sighs, and takes a seat, Pokemon and all.
[14:54] <@SuikoGM> "...Another one?" he blinks, but he concentrates. "History repeats - a tragedy shall be faced once more. Falsehoods, wavering resolve, you must cast these things aside and perservere. You are Tenshou, the Wounded Star. 06[14:58] * Iltani shrugs, and stands up, walkig past Merydia and Bernard. "Well, that told me precisely nothing."
[14:58] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo takes a step, and then Bernard beats him there.  Boo.
[14:58] <@SuikoGM> Merydia: "And here I thought he sounded promising from the first one."
[14:58] <@SuikoGM> Bernard: "Okay, lay it on me."

[15:03] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Which?"  He blinks.  "My sister, if you can."
[15:04] <Iltani> "You -always- need a drink."
[15:06] <@SuikoGM> "A lie spanning thirty years, caked in mud and ichor, merely at the surface of a greater falsehood still. A gentle light sought, but it will not be her who finds it. Uncover the roots of the flower and excise their blighted mass."

06[15:19] * Lekha is still eavesdropping, standing behind the tent flap in a way that might be stealthy if Lekha wasn't, y'know, dressed the way she was.
[15:19] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru has a seat - this woman, to the lot of you, appears Ravarran, though with dark skin much like the woman next to her.
[15:20] <@SuikoGM> She's also one of the members of the Sapphire Sharpedos, Iltani would probably be able to guess, from the emblem on her armor.
[15:20] <@SuikoGM> In any case, Luc speaks up.
[15:20] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo is also eavesdropping, in a more subtle way, outside the tent.  He uses Lekha's less subtle hiding as a bit of a mask, and picks an easier spot behind her.
[15:22] <@SuikoGM> "Tengou Star. The Star of Conflagration. A lofty weight rests upon your shoulders that you do not yet realize. When the time comes, you will be required to make a choice that will make or break the woman that you have become."
[15:22] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru seems a bit confused.
[15:23] <@SuikoGM> "Whatever choice you make, live with no regrets."
[15:23] <@SuikoGM> "Next."
[15:24] <@SuikoGM> She glances at Soma. "Alright... why don't you try?"
06[15:24] * Somalakshmi steps forward and sits down, still wondering if he's just doing this for the women, but also a bit curious about his reaction to the dark haired man.
[15:24] <@SuikoGM> She vacates the seat to give Soma the spot.
[15:24] <@SuikoGM> Luc studies Soma for a moment.
[15:24] <Somalakshmi> "All right. What do you have to say about me then?"
[15:28] <@SuikoGM> "A sirocco blowing wherever nature deems fit. A force of nature with no direction. You are Chimou, the Ferocious Star. The one thing notable about you is the lack of notability. What do you value? What will you value? Discovering your passion will be the key to become more than a stray wind."
[15:28] <@SuikoGM> "You won't realize what you have until it's gone."

06[15:29] * Somalakshmi hesitates for an extra second after he says next, but steps out of the chair anyway, smiling.
[15:30] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru: "That seems a bit harsh."
[15:30] <@SuikoGM> Luc ushers any of you remaining out out out before calling in the next group.
[15:30] <Somalakshmi> "It's all just for fun, isn't it?"
[15:31] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru: "Sure, but he didn't have to insult you. ...then again I suppose he's been doing that to several people passing through." She shrugs. "It's all vague to me."
[15:31] <@SuikoGM> When ushering the last two out, they get pushed into Lekha a bit :V
06[15:32] * KatsuoOfTsukinoshi takes that as his cue to disappear into the shadows. Or the trees. Or whatever's handy.
[15:33] <Somalakshmi> "Honestly, I don't really believe in fortune telling. Destiny isn't something you can just know, even with magic. I find it comforting being told that I don't really have one."
06[15:33] * Lekha eeps and immediately goes to stare up at the sky. OH LOOK A BIRD

[15:34] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru: "That's... one way to perceive it."
01[15:35] <Lekha> "Oh, sorry." Lekha turns around again. "So, what'd you think? Learn anything fun?"
[15:41] <Somalakshmi> "Fun? I suppose it was a bit fun. His methods are a bit strange, don't you think?"
01[15:43] <Lekha> "Yeah, you'd think if he was sitting around in a stuffy ol' tent all day, he'd want to make things more dramatic. You know, so he doesn't get bored."
[15:45] <Somalakshmi> "He certainly seemed to put more effort into his performance for the women."
01[15:45] <Lekha> "Oho. Well, he is that age, don't you think?"
01[15:46] <Lekha> "...Though there was someone he did a long fortune for that SOUNDED male - er. Not that I was listening in!"
[15:48] <Somalakshmi> "Perhaps he mistook him for a woman."

[15:49] <Iltani> "He was awfully terse with the both of you," Iltani says, finally speaking up.
[15:49] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru: "I wonder... in any case, nice to meet yo- hm?" She looks over at Iltani now.
01[15:50] <Lekha> "I'm not sure I'd call that terse, considering his other fortunes were like... a sentence at best."
[15:50] <Iltani> "Well, not with you. Compared to most of us, he was positively glowing when describing your own alleged future," she continues, trying to calm down the fidgety Pokemon in her arms.
[15:50] <Iltani> "Though he probably touched on a nerve when it came to Merydia..."
01[15:51] <Lekha> "What's all that stuff about being a star, though?"
[15:51] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru: "...I don't know how to feel about what he said. I'm perfectly content with the kind of life I lead now. What could change? I think Somalakshmi is probably closer to the truth."

06[15:57] * Somalakshmi stoops down and gently takes the moonstone from the white phanpy's trunk.

[15:58] <Iltani> "So what star was he born under?"
06[15:59] * Lekha crouches to pat the lil' elephant. :D
[15:59] <@SuikoGM> Lekha, there's totally a berry plant next to the tent where you were hiding. Maybe it was decoration, maybe not., but berries are delicious. Quite a few used to grow in the marshes.

[16:01] <@SuikoGM> In the meantime, Merydia seems to have wandered off to get a drink. Bernard has likewise mysteriously vanished.
01[16:01] <Lekha> "I've seen a few in my homeland, but never in the wild - always owned by traders."
01[16:02] <Lekha> "Also, I've never seen a white one before!"
[16:02] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru tries to make conversation with Iltani in their absence. "Hm, you're part of that retrieval team camped near our tents?"
[16:02] <Iltani> "Relentless Absols, yes."
[16:02] <Somalakshmi> "Your homeland?"
[16:02] <Iltani> "We make do with the jobs we can find."
[16:02] <@SuikoGM> She nods and offers her hand. "Sumeru, vice captain of the Sapphire Sharpedos. Nice to meet you."
01[16:02] <Lekha> Burblebird, distressed by the lack of attention being paid to him, snags one of the berries and holds onto it possessively. >:
06[16:03] * Lekha nods. "Lekha Satyasvapna, at your service. I hail from Davadezi."
[16:04] <@SuikoGM> The adorable little creature with Lekha is a sight to behold himself. Seemingly half slug, half bird, he squishes around with delight once finding those berries. All his!
[16:04] <Somalakshmi> "I see. My name is Somalakshmi. I'm a travelling dancer. What part of Davadezi are you from?"
[16:04] <@SuikoGM> Pava would be in...
06[16:05] * Iltani transfers Mistral to her other arm before shaking Sumeru's hand. "Iltani Isaacs. A pleasure."
[16:06] <@SuikoGM> The fringes of the Dava region, where the capital of Spati is. The Emerald Marsh is kind of in the sticks though, not really that close to Spati.
[16:07] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru nods. "Same here."
01[16:07] <Lekha> "Pava, in Dava. It's.... really not close to anything at all, though. That just means it's quiet!"
[16:07] <Somalakshmi> "I see. You said, at your service? What sort of service do you perform?"
[16:07] <Iltani> "I think these two need to go out and make some friends, though - or at least, not cling to me for dear life."
01[16:08] <Lekha> "It's a figure- Hmmm."
01[16:08] <Lekha> "I guess I do some painting. And I'm going to be a rune hunter! And I used to do security work."
[16:08] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Katsuo leans in a little from his position at the mention of 'rune hunter', and also eyes the Froakie with interest.
[16:09] <@SuikoGM> At that, Levante actually hops down and starts exploring around Sumeru's foot.
[16:09] <@SuikoGM> The woman laughs a bit at that. "Adorable.  A ralts, isn't it?  ....Male...?"
[16:09] <Iltani> "Female. Her name is Levante."
[16:09] <Iltani> "She is a bit shy, but she's been adjusting. Both were caught just yesterday."
[16:11] <@SuikoGM> "It's so hard to tell. You'd think after working with enough androgynous... actually that reminds me, where -is- that boy Cornell?" She glances around. "...Probably found something to tide his interest." And then back to Iltani. "Yesterday? And already so well bonded."
[16:11] <Iltani> "Perhaps a little too well, I suspect."
[16:12] <Iltani> She motions to the Froakie clinging to her arm.
[16:12] <Somalakshmi> "Going to be a rune hunter? That seems like quite a sudden change of profession from a painter."
[16:12] <@SuikoGM> "It took me the better part of a month to fully tame my arcanine..." she muses.
01[16:12] <Lekha> "Well, sometimes one finds oneself suddenly unwelcome places, and wants to try new things! Just for a change of pace."
01[16:12] <Lekha> "It sounded exciting!"
[16:13] <@SuikoGM> Mistral crawls up your arm and has a seat on your shoulder now, leaning against your neck.
[16:15] <Iltani> "Hm. It might be because they're so young, or the circumstances in which I met them."
[16:15] <Somalakshmi> "Are you travelling alone? Or are you working with other hunters?"
[16:15] <Iltani> "Mistral was looking for warmth - and still is, apparently - and Levante was fleeing from a demonic Mightyena."

[16:24] <Iltani> "I need them for detail work. They aren't exactly a fashion statement."
[16:24] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> Shortly after Lekha leaves the group, there's a voice behind her.  "That fortune teller, he seemed to realize you already knew what he was talking about, didn't he?"

[16:26] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "He said 'But you know that'.  I wanted to ask you about that..."
01[16:27] <Lekha> "Maybe it was because I didn't seem too surprised?"
[16:28] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I'm Katsuo of Tsukinoshi, I'm looking for someone.  I was thinking I'd look for people who have...strange knowledges, like that boy there, to see if they know anything to help me with that."

[16:31] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Well, it's worth a shot regardless.  I'm looking for my sister, she ran off from our village without any prior notice, and I think I have an idea on what she's trying to do, but not why she thinks she can do it now of all times..."

[16:33] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "She's probably looking for information on our parents.  They disappeared when we were young."
[16:35] <@SuikoGM> Levante droops a little but seems to accept that.

[16:37] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "29, but she looks a bit younger.  At home, she's usually dressed in...would you know kimono?"  Katsuo suddenly realizes he's talking to a foreign girl.  "She's got black hair and red eyes like me...and she's a master of disguises and acts.  The boy there said she'd been here, so I figured I'd ask around, starting with you."

01[16:38] <Lekha> "Well! I'll sleep on it. Any way I can get in touch with you afterwards?"
[16:39] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "I'll be around here for a few days, I'll probably be at the inn...ask for a fireman."

[16:41] <KatsuoOfTsukinoshi> "Good."  With that, he gives her a nod, and then slinks off to sneaky shadow land

[16:43] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru considers. "...Hm. There's still quite a bit to see. I think I have the next stop already in mind, Somalakshmi."
[16:44] <Somalakshmi> "Oh? Where to next then?"
06[16:45] * Iltani sighs. "You win, then. I'm sure someone here sells lenses with 1:1 magnification in your size, little one."
[16:45] <@SuikoGM> "The races. Why don't you enter your phanpy? You might let you, he seems exotic enough..."
[16:45] <@SuikoGM> Levante perks up a little and starts to walk with you to the next attraction.
06[16:46] * Iltani seeks out just that, for the time being, before she's dragged off again.
[16:47] <@SuikoGM> If Soma doesn't say anything more, Sumeru starts herding her off rather excitedly.
[16:50] <Somalakshmi> "Sounds like it could be fun. What do you think, Sevai?"
[16:50] <@SuikoGM> The little phanpy hronks happily. :==D
[16:51] <Somalakshmi> "Let's give it a try then."
[16:51] <@SuikoGM> Sumeru: "Then it's settled. If you two win, then... hm, I'll think of some extra incentive or another." she laughs. "Let's go."

[16:52] <@SuikoGM> ....aaand we'll call it here, completing the rest of these activities when we can. The gears of destiny shall turn quite soon.
