Hi y'all!

Word on the street is that Troy's Commissioner of Planning on Economic Destruction, Bill Dunne, will leaving soon and, as is a useless tradition in government, we should honor his service.

Attached and below are a draft resolution to thank him for his service to the City of Troy.

Feel free to modify the wording as needed.

RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM DUNNE FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF TROY

WHEREAS, on the 5th day of February, 2016 William S. Dunne will be leaving the office of Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development of Troy TODAY; and

WHEREAS, William Dunne served the citizens of Troy for the past 12 years and a month and five days;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Troy City Council does hereby pause in its deliberations to honor and commend William Dunne for the years of service he rendered in the best interests of the residents of the City of Troy; and specifically his actions in the following notable situations: his treatment of co-workers, members of the press, waitresses and auditors with the valuable skills he learned at the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, for his spirited debates with City Engineer Russ Reeves, PE, for the 2011 City Hall lease double-jeopardy, for his donation of federal HUD CDBG funds to the Sanctuary for Independent Media via complementary sidewalks, for attempting to get the City of Troy sued during the former City Hall demolition with a non-existent asbestos scare, for his role in actually releasing asbestos on King Street and at Bomber’s open air patio during the “Emergency” demolition of 4-10 King Street an historic wood-frame building dating from before the Great Fire of 1863, for his successful and transparent attempt to sell the former Scolite property way below market value, for the FBI/DEC/EPA investigation winning demolition of King Fuels as well as King Street and “arsoned” properties on 5th Avenue behind the Bomber’s parking lot, for his visionary proposal to put a dining area in Franklin Alley, for chasing away multiple excellent designs and developers at One Monument Square as well as his agreement to sell the land for one-quarter of previous proposals, for the unnecessary $790,000 Canadian Comprehensive Plan, for the development of the South Troy Industrial Road, for the development of John F. Kennedy Park into a hotel, for the introduction of multiple low-income housing development into the City of Troy as great expense to taxpayers, for the generous 40-year PILOT at O’Neil Apartments, and for the secret Downtown Parking Study, amongst many other episodes of heroic service; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Troy City Council transmit a copy of this resolution, suitably engrossed, to William Dunne, as a token of appreciation.
