- [1:14][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: Palace of the Dead listening to someone tell me I can't be a crafting mentor because all of my crafts aren't 60. lol.
- [1:15][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: Its true
- [1:15][NOVICE]Diana Bloodmoon: >.>
- [1:16][NOVICE]Diana Bloodmoon: >===== bord (try's to set fire to ul'dah)
- [1:16][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: I had a healer tell me to stop playing Foe Requiem, even though I was playing it for them and the DRK.
- [1:16][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: How. Dare. You.
- [1:18][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: Having a WHM tell you, a ????ing career BRD, not to play a song you're playing for the overall benefit of the party.
- [1:19][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: You can only hope one day they realize their mistake.
- [1:19][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: Not gonna lie: it took a lot of self-control not to go Gordon Ramsay and flip my shit hard.
- [1:19][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: Anyway Uggor to explain their reasoning for that. A lot of crafts give you cross-class potentials at level50
- [1:19]The party has been disbanded.
- [1:19][NOVICE]Diana Bloodmoon: im glad i have not ran it to such ass's while playing
- [1:19][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: You also need goldsmithing at level54 for a x-class from that craft (I can't recall the name atm)
- [1:20][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: I mean, I know I do. I've owned the game less than 60 days, I'm working as fast as I can
- [1:20][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: Maker's Mark, Satorin?
- [1:20][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: In addition a lot of two star and above crafts require materials that come from level60+ crafts so if you're not a Grandmaster of the Hand then you likely are not familiar with the game to provide assistance in crafting
- [1:20][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: Satori*
- [1:20][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: However do realize that you can set you mentor status to whatever
- [1:20][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: see, I hate that assumption
- [1:21][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: I know how the crafting system works, what crafts I need for what cross classes; I earned mentor status through the crafting/gathering achieves so that's what I wear.
- [1:21]Elstabbo Supreme[Western Thanalan]: Blades of Lodisia is now recruiting for new members of all levels and experience. We are a friendly and active Free Company simply looking to boost our numbers for endgame content and eventual raiding, send a tell to me or Miyu Blight for info or invite.
- [1:21][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: and that's the exact argument this BLM who keeps standing in the AoE is making.
- [1:21][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: You don't need to.
- [1:21][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: I can't possibly know what CC skills I need or how to make high end recipes.
- [1:22][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: Don't be an elitist.
- [1:22][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: Uggor, you have CRP at 60 and CUL at 51. The rest of your abilities are at 15
- [1:22][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: I have eyes and a brain and I can read.
- [1:22][NOVICE]Arasthel Winters: You're supposed to if you wear the trade mentor
- [1:22][NOVICE]Arasthel Winters: icon
- [1:22][NOVICE]Mithrildes Galavir: Ehh
- [1:22][NOVICE]Arasthel Winters: The requirements are just too low
- [1:22][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: I know how it all works, I don't HAVE to have them at 60
- [1:22][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: Uggor, knock it off. They're trying to be helpful.
- [1:22][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: They're being rude, honestly.
- [1:22][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: I agree with Uggor.
- [1:22][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: Then ask them to stop or ignore them, don't resort to their level.
- [1:23][NOVICE]Mithrildes Galavir: I also agree with Uggor. You don't need all crafters at 60 to know how to craft
- [1:23][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: i hve all crafts at 60 and still need to follow guides for high level crafting
- [1:23][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: No, you just need them all to be properly equipped for crafting everything
- [1:23][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: which I understand.
- [1:24][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: being able to craft doesn't mean not understanding how to
- [1:24][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: Having them at 60 does give a better understanding on how certain cross-classes work.
- [1:24][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: *being unable
- [1:24][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: not really?
- [1:24][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: depends on how you learn
- [1:24][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: He doesn't have Innovation, Careful Synthesis II, Maker's Mark, Comfort Zone
- [1:24][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: But he can still know what they all are, and do.
- [1:24][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: that doesn't mean he can't understand how they work, though
- [1:24][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: I have a list open next to me, in a google doc. I know what I need to get, where they come from, and what I use them for.
- [1:24][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: I have most of them at 50 or higher and I don't pretend I know what I'm doing
- [1:24][NOVICE]Eclaire Farron: you guys all take your selves way too seriously why I dont even bother wearing the crown lol
- [1:24][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: You can read the tooltips, sure, but using them and seeing what they actually do gives some extra insight.
- [1:25][NOVICE]Klades Dunaidh: I think if crafting ability was supposed to be tied into the ability to be a crafting mentor they would've set it up differently
- [1:25][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: To be honest
- [1:25][NOVICE]Klades Dunaidh: So it really just sounds like some people going "waaaah you can't be a crafting mentoooor you're not good enouuuuuugh"
- [1:25][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: Oof Lightning, does your ivory tower get struck from time to time?
- [1:25][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: I think mentor status is just being willing to help.
- [1:25][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: There's no shame in saying, "I'm not sure", or, "I don't know."
- [1:26][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: like i said, i still look up guides because i don't have the time to work out ideal rotations for high level crafts
- [1:26][NOVICE]Cecilia Tyyne: True. Even mentors can learn new things.
- [1:26][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: "Let me look that up for you."
- [1:26][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: but i'd still consider myself a crafting mentor because i understand how and why to do things
- [1:26][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: I half-agree. A mentor should be somebody willing to help, but at the same time, misinformation isn't useful.
- [1:26][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: And I strive to NEVER provide misinformation. I have 2 monitors and google regularly.
- [1:26][NOVICE]Lyra Kelgo: Of course, misinformation is bad.
- [1:27][NOVICE]Eon Reaver: at the same time, a beginner doesn't need to know the lvl 60 3star rotation
- [1:27][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: Uggor, you got powerleveled to 60 CRP and just did the achievements to get back into the mentor chat
- [1:27][NOVICE]Eon Reaver: they just need beginner knowledge
- [1:27][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: I'm not saying you are? The topic has expanded beyond just you darling
- [1:27][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: Why can I not blacklist someone from chat while in duty, smh
- [1:27][NOVICE]Klades Dunaidh: because spaghetti code
- [1:28][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: i was using it as an example, that's all cherie
- [1:29][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: My take is that Satori is being a berk and that you're rising to it too easily Uggor
- [1:29][NOVICE]Mithrildes Galavir: a berk?
- [1:29][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: it's a slang term
- [1:29][NOVICE]Xiexie Sar: guessing it means jerk
- [1:30][NOVICE]Uggor Thaholy: YEs, I did get help getting the HQ items crafted to turn in for leves. I paid for all of the mats myself. I did 50-60 myself, completely. I did it to get back into this chat and become a Mentor; because I love helping people. So yes, this was a goal of mine, and I continue to grind daily to get everything to higher levels. And maybe I AM rising to it, because I don't enjoy being told that I am doing thing wrong or can't understand something because I haven't experienced it.
- [1:30][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: Er, not quite
- [1:30][NOVICE]Raichu Oak: Is that a new word like "fam" and "100" and "lit"?
- [1:30][NOVICE]Klades Dunaidh: I mean if we're honest the gate of entry to being any kind of mentor is not especially strict so complaining that so and so should/shouldn't call themselves a mentor is dumb
- [1:30][NOVICE]Klades Dunaidh: holy paragraph batman, let it go
- [1:30][NOVICE]Raichu Oak: I'm really bad at new slang.
- [1:30][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: It's English slang for a fool
- [1:31][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: I'm not fluent in colonial slang so I occasionally call people a pillock
- [1:32][NOVICE]Satori Komeiji: I'm spamming this shit up so this is the last response. Uggor, I am saying that you should not be a crafting mentor. Not until you have all the basic x-class abilities down so you can reliably produce HQ level60 items. The only person stopping you from being an aventuring mentor is yourself.
- [1:33][NOVICE]Cherie Marechal: Noted, now sod off with your high-minded attitude.
- [1:34][NOVICE]Eclaire Farron: with out snowflakes we would never see snow
- [1:34][NOVICE]Eclaire Farron: -Abraham Lincoln
