  1. >"Alright class, before I let you go, I'm going to give you a project. I'm going to be assigning partners for this one, so pay attention as I call your name."
  2. >You slam your head on the desk. You just want to get out of there, the last thing you want is another atrocious partner project.
  3. >You pick your head up and start rubbing your temples at the thought of it.
  4. >Especially considering your partner experience consists of a lab report partnered with Flash Sentry, all he did was leave you to do everything as he practiced with his band, then took half the credit.
  5. >And a week ago you had to deal with that stupid "egg baby" thing with Trixie. It'll be more fun to hang yourself than do that again.
  6. >Maybe this time you can be the one to dump all the work on the other person.
  7. >Who are you kidding, like that will ever happen.
  8. >"Now, get with your partners, I'll discuss the assignment."
  9. >Shit, maybe paying attention would have helped.
  10. >You look around the classroom, maybe you can pinpoint to see who is partnered with you by seeing if someone is staring at you.
  11. >You make eye contact with Applejack, bingo.
  12. >You pick up your stuff, and start to walk over to her, maybe she won't be so bad to-
  13. >"Anon! I'm over here!"
  14. >Now you fucked up. You turn around to see Rarity waving to you from the other side of the room.
  15. >Well, you can't really think of how this could go. Not that you don't like her, you've just never really had the chance to get to know her.
  16. >You scramble yourself together, and quickly get over to the seat next to her.
  17. >Rarity looks at you, giving off a look of confusion and disgust.
  18. >"You didn't really mistake me for Applejack, did you?"
  19. "Well, I, um, wasn't paying attention, sorry."
  20. >"Anon, it's okay, I'm just teasing."
  21. >"Please pay attention, and then I'll let you go. Please let me just go over the assignment. You going to be working on creating a fictional company, and what you'll need to focus on is advertising, and proving why the consumer should go with your company over the others. Any questions?"
  22. >Doesn't Rarity work at that dress shop? Maybe this would actually turn out really well.
  23. >The bell rings, allowing you all to leave for the day.
  24. >Maybe this would be a good opportunity to talk to Rarity to get some stuff started, see if she is going to be a good partner or not.
  25. "Hey, um, Rarity, when would be a good time to maybe start working with you?"
  26. >"I do have some time before I work at my boutique. Do you want to come with me to discuss some things about it, and get started? It's not a long walk, I promise."
  27. "Sure, that would be good."
  28. >You both clean up your stuff, and make your way to the door, grabbing the papers before you leave.
  29. "So... you work at a shop already?"
  30. >"My parents run it, I work there a bit to get some experience. It's my dream to eventually run a shop like that."
  31. "How long have you done that?"
  32. >"Ever since I was little. If you're really curious, I'll show you around it a little bit."
  33. >Fortunately, Rarity was right, the walk wasn't too much.
  34. >You spent most of it making a bit of small talk, but nothing really personal.
  35. >Though you must say, you kind of had a wrong impression of her before.
  36. >Again, you never thought she was bad or anything, but she did hang out with the likes of Hoity Toity and Photo Finish, who were relatively snobby and rude. Especially with the likes they thought of "beneath" them.
  37. >You almost feel bad for Rarity, by hanging out with them, it really makes her look bad in comparison too. Yet, she really isn't.
  38. >You make it to the building, and she unlocks the door, to reveal the boutique.
  39. >Stepping inside, it really felt like a high-end store, certainly something you shouldn't be waltzing into in a t-shirt and jeans, it's like it's not meant for the someone such as yourself.
  40. "Wait a second, I thought we were going to your place?"
  41. >"Yes darling, this is my place. We live upstairs and the shop is downstairs. Come on, we'll go to my room to start."
  42. >You follow her upstairs, and she leads you to her room.
  43. >It's a rather simple one, a lot less stuff than your room what with all your chotchkes and such.
  44. >It was just her bed, a nightstand, a desk with a computer and a couple of supplies, her dresser, a closet to the side, and that was really it.
  45. >"Anon, you can take a seat at the desk. I'll go pull up a spare chair from somewhere and we can get something started!"
  46. >She leaves the room, letting you be for a moment. It's surprising she trusts you alone alone for right now.
  47. >You put down your bag, and pull out the paper. It'd probably be best to start filling out some of the things you can, to get something done and to prove to Rarity you're not someone who will just sit around.
  48. >You may have a good impression of her so far, but you certainly don't want her having a bad impression of you.
  49. >Realizing you forgot a writing utensil of any sort, you start pulling open draws of the desk trying to find something.
  50. >As you take out draws, you stumble upon, a small, glittery notebook
  51. >Considering where you are, you realize it's fairly obvious what you're looking at.
  52. >Before you have a chance to examine it, Rarity has already returned, forcing you to shut the draw.
  53. >"I'm sorry, I hope I didn't keep you waiting."
  54. >She pulls the chair up to the desk, and takes her seat.
  55. >"Anon, did you have anything in mind to start with?"
  56. >Maybe it'll be good to try to be polite and start with her interests.
  57. "Well, we could do something regarding a clothing company. I think it'll be easy to work with, being able to create some fictional company and why it'll be better than competitors?"
  58. >She appears to be shocked that you would even suggest such a thing.
  59. >"Really, you wouldn't mind that?"
  60. "No, not really. I think it could work well."
  61. >"Oh thank you Anon! I know this might not be your first pick, but it is so kind of you to say that for me!"
  62. "Well, like I said, it seemed like a good idea."
  63. >"Okay! Well that settles that then! Now what?"
  64. "Well, the paper says we have to find what people are 'looking for' and capitalize off of that."
  65. >"I could just use the information from the sales downstairs."
  66. "That could actually be a really big help, it's actually good that you have something so nearby."
  67. >Time quickly flies as you two have been bouncing off ideas from each other for this fictional company and the idea.
  68. >In fact, it's been going so well that you almost feel you've been getting along with her more personally. You almost seem to be enjoying yourself.
  69. >Suddenly the moment is interrupted by a knock on the door.
  70. >"Rarity? Are you in there?"
  71. >"Oh no, Anon I'm sorry, I'm late! I was supposed to be working downstairs some time ago! I'm coming daddy!"
  72. >Shit, her dad's here now? You don't want him getting the wrong idea at this second, you don't know what he he's like.
  73. >Rarity gets up to open the door, and on the other side is a rather large looking fellow, sporting a mustache. He looks over her shoulder, and suddenly spots you.
  74. >"Who is this? Rarity, I told you..."
  75. >"No daddy, he's just someone I'm supposed to be working with at school on a project! It's not that."
  76. >He's still glaring at you. If looks could kill, well, you know your fate.
  77. >"Is this true?"
  78. "Y-yes sir."
  79. >Would you even tell him other wise if this wasn't the truth?
  80. >"Alright. But she has to work a bit, so you best be on your way."
  81. "O-okay."
  82. >You scramble for you stuff, and try to make it out the door without making eye contact with her father. Just take your stuff and go.
  83. >"Anon wait!"
  84. >Before you make it to the steps, Rarity ran up to catch up to you.
  85. >"We should exchange numbers, to keep in touch for the project! Is that alright?"
  86. "Yeah totally, that would be great."
  87. >After exchanging numbers, you run out the door, and go on your walk home.
  88. >Maybe working with her won't suck, after all. Especially considering she asked for your number. It may have been to keep in touch for the assignment, but that still counts for something... right?
