  1. Hello! And welcome to yet another boring-ass episode of "WHY DOESN'T THIS F*CKING THING WORK ANYMORE?!"
  2.
  3. Today, I ask yet again for the umpteenth time why doesn't mtpfs or any other Media Transfer Protocol File System work with the Amazon Kindle Fire?
  4.
  5. In the beginning, this device DID connect like any regular device. I was able to download all the stuff that was on it off it.
  6.
  7. Then that stopped working.
  8.
  9. I though doing a factory wipe would fix it. It did not.
  10. I thought installing every MTPFS/FUSE software with apt-get would work. It did not. In fact, it made using other devices that use MTP impossible.
  11.
  12. I tried using other computer with other operating system (Namly a netbook that had Windows Vista on it.) The f*ck Microsoft helped out with that considering NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I PLUGGED IT IN and they wanted me to buy Windows 8 in the process for a problem they created to begin with since they developed the retarded MTP software. (And yes, it is retarded! Before MTP, tablets could connect as Media devices over USB and do more than one thing. MTP on the other hand is the Tanya Harding's Bodyguard of file transfer. HITS IT IN THE KNEES! Oh, and MTP can only do ONE THING AT A TIME, so it's so special it rides the short bus!)
  13.
  14. Meanwhile, back at my 64-bit Ubuntu computer that I built with my two bare hands back in February, dmesg give me THIS
  15.
  16.
  17. [479186.517631] usb 2-1.5: new high-speed USB device number 45 using ehci-pci
  18. [479186.601658] usb 2-1.5: device descriptor read/64, error -71

  28.
  29. And here is what /etc/fstab looks like.
  30.
  31. # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
  32. /dev/mapper/ubuntu-root / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
  33. # /boot was on /dev/sda2 during installation

  35. # /boot/efi was on /dev/sda1 during installation
  36. UUID=C8F8-EAD3 /boot/efi vfat defaults 0 1
  37. /dev/mapper/ubuntu-swap_1 none swap sw 0 0
  38.
  39. Some times it is an error -32. But it certainly doesn't like it when I plug on-the-go cables into my Amazon Kindle Fire HD. Perhaps I've explained this like A THOUSAND TIMES already. As gracious as I have been the past few months, the response and the resolve has been slow and often inconclusive
  40.
  41. You know what would be great, NEW IDEAS for fixing this problem. Google and Duck Duck Go never seem to have a solution for this problem and lately have started to pull up my or others peoples UNFINISHED problems involving MTP devices no matter what the operating system.
  42.
  43. What ever is going on, my case is different. And frankly, I'm getting sick of running through the motions of "restarting the computer" or "restarting the device" or some sh*tty answer where people treat this like a Tech Support problem rather than what it is: DEFECTIVE BY DESIGN.
  44.
  45. I'd really like to blank out FireOS on this device and replace it with Cyanogenmod. And I'd really like to kick the a**hole's ass a Microsoft who developed probably the worst thing their company has made since Microsoft BOB and Clippy!
  46.
  47. Somebody help me out with this issue, and be QUICK about it. I've been dealing with this since the beginning of October and I'd like to wrap this up by the end of November of this year. I also would like to close most of the 187 open Chrome tabs I have open on this computer that is supposed to be really fast but Chrome has slowed it down to a snails pace. (No I will not change browsers! Focus on makeing the KFHD7 to work!)
  48.
  49. I'm losing my mind considering I can't seem to get anything to F*CKING WORK lately! I've tried several times this month to make a bootable Ubuntu Startup Disk but the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator program is crap (crashes before it finishes), Unetbootin is crap (I've wiped my thumb drive several times only to have it do nothing after letting my computer sit for a half-hour with my thumb up my ass just to wait for it to TRY Ubuntu without installing but nothing happens. But again, this will be put off for another time. I want the KFHD7 to work.)
  50.
  51. Oh, and let's not forget what a piece of crap the methods of getting a Sixaxis controller to work with Ubuntu is. Seven years and I just can't use Ubuntu's BLUETOOTH PREFERENCES, I have to use sixpair and jsgtk and it still doesn't work with Steam for Linux. Oh, and it breaks all the other Bluetooth stuff for the rest of the computer so I can't use my Bluetooth stereo receiver to play sound or attempt to connect the KFHD's Bluetooth Sync (which I'm sure doesn't do anything.) (Again, another time. KFHD7 first!)
  52.
  53. I'm just at my wits end and I need someone to help me make this goddamn thing work for once with my computer!
  54.
  55. HELP ME OUT! I'M OUT OF PATIENCE!
